It came to me as a surprise the McLaren F1 he reviewed was Jay's and the best part of it (and the sweetest imho) was that Doug was casually enjoying the ride with Jay, he wasn't balls out interviewing him, he was enjoying the drive.

Only thing about Doug which dissappointed me is that he defends Tesla which tbh just shouldn't be the case. The Teslas just are not as good as they are advertised (not even close actually) yet Doug advertises Tesla in a sublime inconspicuous way, more than any other car. Orher than this, he is truly unique and I very much like most of his reviews. He should give some cars more points to the cool factor.

Simplicity is why I like Doug. It’s all about cars and passion for cars and he does not take himself too seriously. He is the demonstration that you can do quality content without fancy effects and overwhelmingly expensive gear when you have the passion.

Strongly disagree. He preys on the inclination of insecure elitist consumers by shitting on subjective aspects & quirks of nearly every car by framing them in a negative light. The algorithm rewards this because it drives traffic & sales. But at the expense of the unwitting consumer.

I can only speak for myself but I imagine many other people think very similar to me: I only like his videos because he talks about all the little things that no one else ever mentions. Other car reviewers never mention that the turn signal stock is from a different car or that there's a perfect little cubby designed to hold your phone in the center console. The overall review means nothings to me. I can watch someone else truly test the speed/power/reliability but Doug really shines a light on the little things.

I could listen to him geek out about something as stupidly trivial as how a turn signal stock feels so strangely satisfying or something as little as a tiny drawing of the Among Us astronaut inside the fuel cap of a car only 12 people are interested about for an entire afternoon and not get bored.. That's just how uniquely appealing Doug is. Sure his content and personality ain't exactly for everybody but something about his strangeness and simplicity is just so engaging for me.

I’ve followed Doug for years and learned a lot in this, fascinating. I believe his humility is one of his finest traits. I ALWAYS go to his reviews to learn more about specific cars and only discovered recently that the “Cars and Bids” was his creation. Thanks for an awesome interview!

The fact that his videos now are the same now as they were then is too understated. Over a decade his method never dated or needed refinement and at the same time never got boring or out of character. He had a formula, faith in himself, and went straight to scaling. What a legend.

Very innovative giving Doug a Doug Score lol. Your content is easy to watch, interesting, knowledgeable, and most importantly, wholesome. This is such a beautiful story. Doug introduced me to the “other side” of automobiles, he makes it interesting, quirky, and digestible. It’s fantastic, and I’m glad I stumbled across him a couple years ago. And now, The D in December stands for Doug, and I will only watch Doug in that month- to pay this beautiful man handsomely.

This is exactly what I have been waiting for. Doug is and will always be one of my favorite youtubers, and like you said Graham he hasn't changed a bit over the years. I'd love to see more videos like this. You could even go on a road trip meeting lots of creators around the country, and use those experiences to make videos for the main channel, the after hours channel, and the podcast.
