From the bottom of my heart do I recommend to you visiting Europe. I honestly think that after all the things you mentiond you liked on your trip, you would fall in love with the scenery, the vibes and the art here.. Think about it :) Greetings from Switzerland.
In Pittsburgh, that plaza of super reflective buildings is called PPG Place. PPG is a glass and paint company, so they are definitely showing off with those windows! I’m definitely a big fan of the glass castles, too!
hi native southern pennsylvanian here, it really felt good to see my home getting some love!! it's a nice change of pace from the usual folks ragging on us. glad you enjoyed the drive !
Aaaaah! You came to Pittsburgh!…and you went to Randyland! (the colorfully decorated house) At the beginning of the video I figured you would just pass by but was very happy to see that you actually spent some time here. Yes, come live in Pittsburgh!
Wow! Looking forward to seeing the rest of your tour! For me as European, it's always fun to see, that you can drive for days and still stay in the same country! If I drive less than one hour I could be in three different countries! ;-)
Ah....your trip and moving; that explains why you've been MIA for a while. Glad you're back, look forward to seeing your travel adventure and new place...
Ah, you're making me miss Pittsburgh. I've lived more rural parts of Pennsylvania, which I do not miss, but I really do have a soft spot in my heart for Pittsburgh. I went to the Warhol museum once, to see the British band The Wedding Present on tour. Behind the stage, the museum had projected Warhol's film Kiss running on a loop for the whole show. Which the band thought was pretty cool. I really appreciate that you post whenever you have something interesting to share, regardless of whether it fits into a set schedule or maintains your brand.
I love Ohio. But that is a very fair assessment of driving through Ohio on the highways. Ohio is much more scenic in the south (where you get the foothills of Appalachia), but that's not exactly a direct route.
Like! I have never been to any of these places. Pennsylvania countryside looks like Switzerland, surprise… and the cities look appealing, which i didn‘t expect. Look forward to the rest of your trip and the way you present it 👍
Damn you, making me fall in love with Pittsburgh! I go as Andy Warhol for Halloween every year because I have short unruly white hair and the same clear Moscot Miltzen frames he wore. Nobody could ever figure out who I was supposed to be until I bought a 6' tall inflatable Campbells Soup can to carry around. Then they would say, "Oh I know! You're, um, that guy. What's his name?" Philistines!
So cool to see your perspective of my home town! I bet all of the neighbors in Pittsburgh watching your channel were happy to see this tour from your eyes.
sometimes what you are describing is called running away and if a person has this happen every so many years that usually means that what they maybe running from is catching up to them, I used to do what you are talking about metaphorically I would just leave start from scratch I did this until I just stopped doing it I stayed in the same place and fought against that feeling to run away. after a few months of this and got past it I waited for few months after that urge and moved and have been stable for around 7 years. but I am currently going through the same feeling but this time it isnt running it is the need for change I have reached my peak of how far I can go living this way so none metaphorically I need to pack up my sheit and leave, start a new. the issue is money and how to live, I have been saving funds for a few years and keep watching for things that are signals for me to move on and to where, , when I was referring to metaphorically running packing up my sheit and going I actually walked away from everyone accept for close family left that entire life behind me and have done it more then a few times
I’m from Pennsylvania, so I’ve visited Pittsburgh and Philadelphia loads of times. It was cool getting to see those cities I know so well from the perspective of someone visiting for the first time :) I think a lot of Pennsylvanians take it for granted. It’s definitely a pretty state 😊
So funny you say that about Ohio. Worked with someone from Michigan and she talked about having to drive thru "Blowhio" and she said she couldn't drive fast enough. Was endless. LOL.
Finally playing catch up on the Lefie vids! I have been to Pittsburgh multiple times and I quite enjoy it. And thanks for the reminder to visit the Warhol museum. I still have not been! Walked past it a couple times, but it just wasn’t in the stars on my visits. UPMC is a great hospital as well. They did my bro-in-law’s double lung transplant back in the summer of 2017. It really is a nice city, and underrated I think. I only live a couple hours south of Pittsburgh and a couple hours west of Columbus in West Virginia. You should have came a little bit more south before heading east! 😆 Off to watch more videos! (I have ALWAYS technically lived in WV, but I have had the joy of traveling via vehicle to the west coast and back, and have spent as much as a couple months living away in various states 😊)
Oh how I miss road trips. I live in Québec, Canada and the landscapes are very beautiful and great for that! And It's funny because the architecture of Philadelphia and Pittsburg, with the tall narrow brick buildings very near the street, remind me a lot of my own neighborhood in Quebec City, named St-Sauveur! Back then, it was a popular place for the workers and lower classes in the city and it holds a lot of history. And it's what I love the most in the place where I live. ^^ Can't wait to see the rest of your driving trip.
Moved across country several times....it has always been an awesome experience!! So far I have moved 40 times (I am much older than you 😆). Been married for some time & we still move with just what fits in our vehicles.
You actually nailed driving Ohio interstates. Long boring stretches. You should have dropped onto US 40 which runs parallel to I70 or US 16. Both present a more varied and interesting view.
Hello, from Pittsburgh! That first building was the United Steelworkers Building. The second building is One PPG (Pittsburgh Paint & Glass) Place, the cluster of glass-plated building are PPG Place, and the public space between them is PPG Plaza. That yellow decorated house on the North Shore (where you got coffee) is Randyland, and the gardens, etc. are open to the public. You caught Pittsburgh on a rare, beautiful and sunny day.
I am interested to hear your take on what it feels like leaving your friend behind when moving to a new place and then how you make new friends when you arrive.
I am desperate to come back to the US after not visiting for 5 years and I think this series will just be creating a bucket list of places for me that I'd never even considered visiting before!
You should check out DC and Baltimore also. Both cities have row houses also. At some point when you come back to the East coast, you should check them out. 😊
Today I've learned that we have very different taste in buildings, but you made me appreciate the (in my opinion) very boring just glass buildings, by noting how the sky is reflected. The mirror buildings was cool though with their very reflective surfaces.
This is really interesting to me. I haven't ever been to the USA (I'm in the UK) and because I have decided not to fly again, I won't be going there. This is a really cool way of sharing some of that huge country with us. Thanks, Lefie! I look forward to part 2.
"This is what my apartment looked like before I moved all the stuff out." "This is a picture from after." After picture is missing one coffee cup, coffee table, and laptop rested on coffee table. End of list
@@Lefie I know minimalism hasn't come up in awhile but I didn't want to forget one of the core Lefie foundations. You showed the empty apartment and I had to go "Is this gonna be a before or an after kind of photo?"
Now you made me want to go to Pennsylvania, when I will finally manage to get to the US:) I completely understand the feeling of moving to new places every few years. There are so many feelings involved, but those are great experiences. Have a great time in your new place and will be here in 3yrs for sure, to see what will be next;)
Thank you for sharing your adventures! Most cats don't like road trips ... But I still think you should get one! You could live in Philadelphia and call it Phil!
We did the same thing. Packed it up and headed north. It was a quick decision. Camper van was stuffed to the gills and went to Ikea to buy furniture that would fit into a small apartment.
One of my biggest regrets is not moving back near my family after I finished my higher education. Now everyone is dead or dying, it's too late :/ don't make my mistake. Choose family over a job every single time.
I just experienced the Andy Warhol Exhibit at the Toronto AGO (art gallery of Ontario) - fascinating as he was into so much art including film. The exhibit was diverse and even had his wigs. I am now investigating his superstar Edie Sedgwick. I did not realize he had been shot. Thanks for posting
Less than 2 weeks ago I put all my stuff in my car and headed west with no idea what I’m doing. Where did I leave behind? PITTSBURGH. Looks like you found Randyland. Haha.
This need to keep moving that you expressed reminds me of the Modest Mouse song "The World At Large." "The days get shorter and the nights get cold I like the autumn but this place is getting old I pack up my belongings and I head for the coast It might not be a lot but I feel like I'm making the most The days get longer and the nights smell green I guess it's not surprising but it's spring and I should leave."
Oh god, lefie, if I had a vehicle, I would be packing it up and driving away all the damn time! I was lucky enough to be in Philadelphia the day before independence Day. Saw the bell and independence hall.
next destination based on the lane you are in is either Chicago west or Toledo Airport, I am going with the first choice as airport parking is expensive
I should have met people in person rather than internet, internet makes me wierd, No body but all letters. Lol, Happy Halloween and Diwali Diwali is on 4 Nov.
