@@DV-cq4dr that is awesome!! Welcome home! It is so rare for a JW to come out of it still believing in God. I remember when I picked up the Bible and wanted to know what it actually said and my sister looked at me like she wanted to barf. lol She is a Catholic today, thanks be to God.

Congratulations, fellow convert! 😊 I was confirmed at Easter Vigil Mass 2015 after 50 years as an Evangelical Protestant. I am now married in the Church and have children to raise. It will be calm for a while, but Christ calls Catholics for combat. We are facing a hostile pagan secular culture that needs to be converted. Viva Cristo Rey!

I resonate a lot with this. I don't know the exact moment when I started to question the protestant church I was part of, but I became aware of certain issues and questions that would not leave me alone. A big turning point was the day I dropped into a catholic church on my way to my usual protestant church. I felt compelled to step into this church that day and it just so happens that a Sunday service was about to commence. I said I'd stay for 5 minutes then go to my usual church......I stayed for the entire service, I didn't want to leave. It was such a powerful and joyful experience. I think that was the day I realised I could no longer be a protestant. I went away after that and read and researched church history but that was just a reinforcement of what I knew, what God had already put in my heart. I'm not saying protestantism is a false religion, it has elements of truth. I liken it to a jigsaw puzzle, the protestant church has some of the pieces whereas the catholic church is the full picture.

I am so glad you enjoyed Kimberly’s testimony. That is so wonderful to hear how the Holy Spirit moved in your heart, and how beautiful the way that God continued to move in your heart during the Mass. I love your puzzle analogy. I have also thought about how Protestantism has a few pieces wedged into the wrong spots, but you never really notice until you stop to examine it, and then they become so obvious.

I love how this conversion story included soul crushing battles in both the emotional and the intellectual theaters of spiritual warfare. On the emotional front, Kimberly struggled with scrupulosity. From personal experience I know how tormenting that cross can be. I tried to live a holy life but felt that every step I took in that direction actually moved me further away from God due to my imperfections and lack of pure intentions. For Kimberly, this caused her to jump into the intellectual pursuit for spiritual truth. The intellectual arena is where I began my journey. I too went through a Great Books program in college. I came out that thinking the emotions are just annoying urges in our bodies this way or that that are best ignored. A stoic life of good books was the highest form of life in my mind. It wasn't until my forty's or fifty's that I began to understand the importance of emotions to a healthy life. Similar to Kimberly, I didn't find a bedrock of peace within which to live until I integrated both the intellectual and the emotional into a blended whole of body and spirit. BTW, I'm a cradle catholic. Thanks for sharing your story, Kimberly.

Such a beautiful conversion story. I am a cradle Catholic, and for so long I took my faith for granted. It wasn't until I had to defend my faith, that I started to read, learn, listen, pray, and understand, what I was taught in my growing up years, was the true faith. I thank God for all the people who forced me to learn more about my faith, by questioning me.

"Don't impose a timetable on yourself for conversion." Probably the best insight I've heard on the process of conversion. It's based largely on the scriptural concept of God knowing our hearts. The Christian life is a process of traveling to the Father, to perfection. None of us ever achieves the end. There comes a point at which God says, "Enough, little one." And He picks us up and brings us to himself. It's always in God's time, not our own.

Hi Shirley, thanks for your comment. I am not sure if Kimberly is able to reply, but one resource I would recommend is the radio show Called to Communion with Dr. David Anders. He is a convert, and the show is devoted to these kinds of questions. You are welcome to call in to the show or write an email, or your brother is also certainly welcome to call in. At the very least, maybe he would enjoy listening to the show. There are also lots of wonderful Catholic resources online that can help you answer these questions. Catholic.com is one good one. In my own life, I will say that I have not had success debating my family into the faith. Prayer seems to go a lot further, and in fact, my video project was birthed out of prayer for those who are not Catholic. God bless.

Protestants believe that the Bible is the word of God and there is nothing beyond it. But Catholics don't believe that the Bible is the word of God, We believe that JESUS IS THE WORD OF GOD, the Word that became flesh and dwelt among us. Jesus The Word of God became man and came down to earth and lived among us as a sign of his boundless love for man. Sola Scriptura means that there is nothing beyond the Bible, thus making it an idol. Therefore your brother is basically worshipping the Bible like an idol and not Jesus. Tell your brother that the Bible was written by humans and it was compiled by the Catholic Church. So the Bible that he is quoting to you was put together by the Catholic Church some 2000 years ago. What can his Johnny come lately, here today gone tomorrow organization teach you what your 2000 year old Catholic Church taught him.

One of the factors in the moral downfall of our country, is that these great books are rarely taught to our young people anymore.Kimberly was moved by the medievals, especially Augustine, but everyone who aspires to a thinking life, or what Plato calls the “examined” life, should be exposed to all the great books of western civilization. Why this changed so drastically, within the space of one generation, I can’t say. But if I’d l own that my own children would not receive the same type of education I received in American public schools, I would have homeschooled.

I was a trainee Roman Catholic priest. I never met God there. I was in Pentecostal churches, baptist Churches, Church of England, and Methodist churches. I never met God there either. The problem? The true gospel was not preached. It was a having a form of holiness at times and circus at worst. Then I started to search for the Truth, and Jesus spoke to me on the 20th Sept 2014 at 11:30 am. Run away from Roman Catholicism, and many other churches where true gospel is not taught. Instead, read the Bible and follow what it says. You will hear from God, see visions and dreams. Above all, you will receive the Holy Spirit! Heal the sick and many more. Jesus of Roman Catholicism is as good as Islam. Don't be fooled.

The Bible, or the New Testament, was put together by the Councils of Hippo and Carthage in the early 4th century AD. I liked this because I can relate to a couple of things here. To name just a few: at some point I attended a CMA church for some months, later I also attended a Protestant Church that was a bit similar to a Catholic one, but it was a Lutheran one, not an Anglican one, though it did rent an Anglican church for its services and I agree that studying theology is hard, exhausting.

@21:00 minute mark when it was suggested to her to use St Ignatius of Loyola's method of discernment was very powerful. I also loved her experience with explaining ((defending?) Marian teaching at the student gathering of Catholics at her school. Dominus Vobiscum

Well done Kimberly. 👌 Atheist here and fellow survivor of religious OCD 😖. I often enjoy listening to Catholic conversion stories - especially since the conversion of Leah Libresco - as adult Catholic converts are always extremely intelligent. It's a pity that I never had a chance to examine the claims of Catholicism closely before I deconverted a couple of years ago. Notwithstanding that, for a long time I've thought that the Reformation was a disaster - chiefly because it produced over 500 years of 'cheap grace'. Anyhow, I doubt that you'll ever read this as your website no longer exists. 😮

Also-totally with you on the Reformation. It made sense to me up until I actually read a lot of the reformed writers and saw how much of the original church teachings they were throwing out with the bathwater. :( I won't throw out any cutesy "it's never too late to revert! ~~✨✨" refrains, but do know that there will absolutely be a place for you if you're tempted to explore things again. In my own discernments since this interview, there's absolutely stuff I've wrestled with from within the church-whatever caused you to step away is very likely a present & real concern, and we need people from inside & out to refine how we teach and do things. Blessings to you!!

Hey Mark. I was cradle Catholic, drifted off into sin for 20 years, was encountered by Christ and became a disciple. I didn’t know whether Catholic or Protestant but started learning and trying to follow Him. Slowly becoming convinced Catholicism was unbiblical and became Evangelical for about three years. Then the logical inconsistencies started and I discovered the early Church Fathers and came back to the Catholic Church. All that to say discipleship and continuous conversion isn’t usually a straight line from Point A to Point B. Leaving the Church was part of the process of coming back and seeing it all for the first time. It sounds like your path is similar so don’t think because you USED to be something you can’t return by a different route. I would suggest only one book for you. Four Witnesses by Rod Bennett. It’s an easy to read introduction to four of the earliest converts to the Faith. They describe life as a first generation Christian and what they were taught and how they lived for Jesus.

Love it! Researched your way to Catholicism. I have always thought that Catholicism is the doctorate of faiths. You have to have full intellectual and emotional maturity to grasp how profound and beautiful a gift from God it is.

Caritas means Charity in Latin which is derived from the adjective 'carus' meaning 'dear', It originally meant 'Christian love of your fellow human beings'.

Old school Catholic maiden's of the light lead us to the light they were two types of Maidens back then they were called sisters the others were called maiden's of Christ now these maidens they were not nuns but they would help the nuns they were virgins maiden's of Christ the maiden's hollered to us you're going to get save today when the bishop comes to anoint with oil close your eyes tell Jesus you're sorry for yoursins and ask him to come into your heart we opened up our eyes and we were all weeping and that was the beginning of and 11-year Revival starting around 1957 and into the 60s.
