India(ns) “Progressive” ? You wish. My girl has been blackmailed to go back home to an arranged marriage to someone of the same “high caste” how’s that for progressive?. She used to tell me how progressive her family was and how her mom was married off at 12 and unlike her mom she and her sisters weren’t married off at 12 and she unlike her mom was allowed to go to school and even travel outside of India but now she is forced to face reality. Imagine progress is being allowed to travel and not being married off at 12. Much much more actual “progress” needs to be made. In education, hygiene, culture, infrastructure, jobs and safety especially for women and women’s rights. If educated rich parents still force their children into arranged marriages, We can only imagine what poor uneducated families do to their girl children

@@Biobele Because of arranged marriage we have less divorce rate compared to love marriage and we 98 % of us have one mom and dad and we don't use terms like biological mother and father stuffs 😂

Indian born and living in Germany here, which you left out completely. Indians today are one of the largest groups of (legal) immigrants to Germany. I work in the field of advertisement / film (senior visual effects artist) but a lot of Indians here are doctors, engineers, programmers etc. but also work as delivery people, nurses and so on. And then we've got some connections in history, even though in a much darker period of Germany. Subash Chandra Bose or "Netaji" came here for support for Indian independence and assembled an Indian troop, which consisted of prisoners of war. He had an Austrian wife and their daughter is Anita Bose-Pfaff who lives here in Germany.

One shouldn't forget the Romani migration ~1000 years ago from India to West Asia and Europe. They contributed a lot to global music and dance. Also, the large number of Indians who fought in WW1 and WW2. The most enduring influence of the Indians on the world is our place-value numeral system (including the numeral 0), schools like Yoga and Buddhism, and many industries including textiles, metallurgy and spices. Btw, the era of Gupta empire is 4th to 6th century CE, and not "6th BC".

I think we do need to mention too that Fijians and Caribbeans had to go through a really tough and racist time. We also can’t fail to recognize that there was a time when we were treated as second class citizens, red-lined, paid less for work, racially terrorized, our temples were attacked, our families and social groups were devastated by gang culture AND YET we’ve continued to survive and thrive.
You guys forgot to mention the Jewel of the Caribbean, Trinidad & Tobago. Yesterday we held a state funeral for the first East Indian & Hindu Prime Minister in the Western world. Basdeo Panday was the best known Indian in the diaspora a few years ago. Trinidad has Hindu & Muslim schools and public holidays for Divali & Eid ul Fitr. More than 40% of the population is of East Indian origin. Some of the highest offices were and are occupied by East Indians such President, Chief Justice and also first East Indian woman as Prime Minister in the western world. The honorary Kamla Persad Bissessar. Our present President is also of Indian origin, the Honorable Christine Kangaloo.
Thank you Dianand. This is a very short video and we did mention Trinidad and Tobago at 08:07 yet very briefly. The subject of Indians in the World deserves hours of video and we hope to provide more detailed content on this in the future. Our condolences on the passing of Basdeo Panday. Thanks so much for watching and for your input!

Indians can easily assimilate in any region of the world, not just the english speaking nations. The reason for this is India itself is one of the most diverse nation in the world with various languages, cultures, traditions and festivals. Since they have been living together for so long with so many communities, they are quite habituated to handle cultural shock when they migrate out of india.

Most Indians migrants are flexible and works really hard. They respects the local culture while keeping own traditions alive. Also, never enforces own culture upon others. Very patriotic to their new home, yet connected to India. Importantly, they make it a point to contribute towards local economy. As part of Indian culture, emphasis on education has always been high, mainly in the science stream. I think it is due to the fact that they follow a flexible culture rather than a cut throat one. Thanks for the video, never knew Indians are there in these many countries.

This so-called ‘Indian diaspora’ has its roots in the Indian civilization, not merely the country of India because many of the people of the ‘Indian diaspora’ trace their ancestry to many different countries in the region of the Indian subcontinent or what we would like to incorrectly describe as South Asia.

It is interesting to note that post colonialism, many Indians left the Caribbean and moved to North America or to the UK. Liberty Ave is a suburb of New York City and is known as little Guyana. Moreover, second generation Indian kids born today in these places are more than likely mixed with other ethnicities.
India's best export is their holy people and gurus and the ancient and timeless Vedic culture. I lived near Mumbai for 8 years and loved it. I was lucky to have lived with my Guru for all that time.

Maaaaan, my family was the first five Fijian familes in Edmonton from the 70’s. We’ve played a hidden role in Indian culture, the Desis now days only have tattoos bc the Fijian gangsters in Vancouver had them and the Punjabi gangsters in Vancouver thought they looked hard. So the cousins in Punjab saw the tattoos in the 90s/2000s when a bunch got deported for gang culture. And then a few ppl went to Mumbai with their tattoos and boom. 2nd contribution Fijian families started creating a divide in the celebrations of holidays in Canada based on the astrological time here vs India. I specifically remember this bc it’s our kul guru that calculates the calendar. 22ish years later that is the norm now for all the temples, where previously until about 2010ish most of the temple calendars coordinated their holidays to be celebrated on the same day in India.

Biggest export ? Zero, decimal system, lots of lessons in geometry & astronomy, mathematical numerals that went from india to arabia then to europe in 6th -7th century before that europe used roman numerals which were complex & tedious, the '1 2 3...' symbols that u see today are derived from indian numeral system. There's so much more than curries & bollywood, we're talking about a place that has history dating back to the oldest civilizations. A place where 3 major religions Hinduism, Buddhism & Sikhism & others like Jainism etc. were born, let that sink in. Just imagine the amount of philosophical knowledge the place must have something like that to happen. India's history is seriously underrated, give it try.
Thank you!! I just hate when people with no authority on Indian Civilization made videos on India without proper knowledge. The creator of the video should know that India is one of the few intellectual civilizations of the world. The other being Greece which Europe has inherited. While they were indeed a few great civilizations of humanity, only two produced intellectual traditions (India & Greece.) In my view India’s is more rigours and developed than European even to the beginnings of the twentieth century. India’s great philosophical/Linguistics/Mathematical traditions are unparalleled until nineteenth century Europe. India’s analysis of the Consciousness and Mind are more rigorously developed than anything The West has produced until 1950. Why these creators of these types of videos emphasize only curry and Bollywood and Meditation is beyond me. India is humanity’s greatest intellectual civilization, get this!!
The british "abolished" slavery and replaced it with "indentured labourers" which is essentially modern slavery - the type seen in uae. That is one of the driving reasons for abundunce of Indians all around the world and India was the reason the brits wanted to end slavery - because the brits had a large labour pool in India which no other european power had or could match....
This part. The telling of this tale implies the Indians had liberty of choice when many of them were shipped as subjects for labor paid very little and in awful conditons, with travel documents and IDs often held hostage trapping them. Something that continues today still. Yes we are also a highly infustrious population, bc we want better, but the ease of this story telling is absolutely colonialism waahed.
Great documentary , very nicely put together . Great voice and very positive and unbiased . Your channel deserves to grow into huge base . Good luck and God bless .

The largest group of Indian students in the USA study and live in Arlington, Texas at the University of Texas in Arlington (UTA) which distinguishes itself from the University of Texas in Austin. Here they tend to study the sciences, mathematics and engineering, whereas down south it is the arts. Arlington is frequently overshadowed by Dallas to the east and Fort Worth to the west, however it is a very large city of about 400,000 people and a key component of the DFW Metroplex with a population of approximately 7,637,387 in 2020. It is grown considerably since then, and its economy is larger than Houston’s.
chutney song stared in guyana way before sundar popo came out with nana and nani but they were not promoted as tv and youtube did not exist in those days in guyana. I see some chutney songs on record from guyana originated in the 1960ies. Sundar songs came out in the 70ies.
@@randysingh6548 You might be hallucinating. According to Chat GPT: Chutney music originated in Trinidad and Tobago, a country in the Caribbean. It is a genre that emerged in the mid-20th century, blending elements of traditional Indian music, such as classical, folk, and bhajan styles, with Caribbean rhythms, influences from calypso, soca, and other local musical traditions. Chutney music often features lyrics sung in Hindi, Bhojpuri, or other Indian languages and reflects the cultural fusion of the Indo-Caribbean community in Trinidad and Tobago
Suriname is a different story, the population is a mixture of the Indonesian, Indian and African communities, brought there by the Dutch West India company (Geoctroyeerde West-Indische Compagnie)
@@СтоянДончев-ь8ц That's just partially correct. We have a very segregated population, consisting of the original natives of Suriname and people of Dutch, Jewish, Portugese, African, Indian, Indonesian and Chinese descent. We do have a small group of people who are biracial/multiracial, but many of the communities are living together, while their ancestral heritage is still fully intact. The Surinamese Hindustanis were shipped out of India 150 years ago by the British East India Company and the Dutch West Indian Company as indentured labourers. Our ancestors made sure that we never forgot where we came from and passed on the Indian culture and language as much as possible to the next generations. That's why we still speak a mixture of Bhodjpuri and Awadhi and we are still practising Hindus or Muslims (depending on the religion of our ancestors).
Indians have the highest per capital income here in the US and are very successful. They also make up the 3rd largest group trying to get in the mess that is the border with Mexico right now. Who knew?
