In Missouri over the last few years I would say yes, ash is often used as firewood. It is also milled into lumber. Last week the going price on ash boards was $2 - $3 per board foot depending on quality. I like to buy it for furniture when I can. Our region has been affected by the Emerald Ash Borer which has ravished ash trees in the area. Unfortunately, many giant 100-year-old trees are felled each week in our metro area. That's how I acquired this log. What's sadder than using it for firewood, is the amount that ends up in the land fill.
