This brings me back to 2009, my little brother and I listening this. Him trying to play guitar parts by ear and singing at the top of his lungs 🥰. He passed last November... I know he is worlds away now, but I still hear him singing. I love you forever.
Sorry to hear that brother, I graduated in 09, this song is forever part of my childhood, I think about the times we used to have and adventures we went on.. Life wont ever be the same :(
Me too. I miss going to shows around 03-07 & seeing bands like Thursday/ Saves The Day/ Underoath/ Taking Back Sunday/ Cursive/ Fall Of Troy/ The Kinison/ The Get Up Kids/ At The Drive In/ Refused/ The International Noise Conspiracy. Wow, that was just from the top, but out of all the early 2000-2007 emo bands I'll say Thursday defined that other wordly emo/screamo sound the best for me at least. How about anyone else?
+Disko Dyslexic I wouldn't really call a bunch of those real 'emo' but yeah, they are bands I listened to when I was a kid, at least most of those. There are a ton of great 'emo revival' bands out nowadays that are tons better than what I listened to when I was younger like: You'll Live, You Blew It!, Pianos Become The Teeth, Marietta, Meraki/Toska, Have Mercy, The World is a Beautiful Place & I am No Longer Afraid to Die amongst tons more.
This song was late underground alternative rock phase for me and transports me back almost 15 years now to being a teen....if there was a way to pay millions of dollars to go back to then, I'd do it in a heartbeat
Honestly Matt Good, Travis Ritcher and Derek Bloom were all the heart of this band with talents in their own rights Matt being an underrated vocalist and guitarist. Travis giving raw ass screams. Lastly Derek double kicking the fuck out of those drums as one of the most talented drummers in the genre.
Time goes by so fast! It's hard to think about listening to this some years ago when I was an emo teenager, and still listening to it now that I'm a teacher. Still love it so much, tho.
Madden 09 man. Those were the days.. Play football outside everyday then watch the Cowboys game every sunday or monday then play madden when it was either raining or no one was home. God I miss being a kid! After 2010 I stopped going outside everyday. Man kids these days are missin out man.
Matt is adorable. I don't normally like higher voices, but his is so clear and sweet. I could listen to him sing all damn day. also, I want to pet his hair. it's so pretty!
Chills and goosebumps. This has so many memories tied to it. I bought the album in Freshman year and was thrown in jail for the summer a week later. I sang this song the whole time I was locked up (for reasons I won't divulge - it's America, we all go to jail). This kept me going. I owe so much to these guys. It's like it came out to prepare me for that trial. "We pave the roads we take. We bend before we break." I'll still be singing on and on and on.
"World's Away" We pave the roads we take We bend before we break Across the world with you Across the world with you The love you never found Was right here all along Waiting here for you Waiting here for you When words mean nothing, I'll be here singing On and on and on and on A world away, I'll still be singing On and on and on and on I know you feel like you've come too far But you can always trace your steps back to the start Tearing down what you had tried to build Sometimes earthquakes have a chance to kill When words mean nothing, I'll be here singing On and on and on and on A world away, I'll still be singing On and on and on and on When words mean nothing, I'll be here singing On and on and on and on, whoa A world away, I'll still be singing On and on and on and on Whoa Whoa Whoa Whoa When words mean nothing, I'll be here singing On and on and on and on A world away, I'll still be singing On and on and on and on
I absolutely adore this song. It is so incredibly meaningful to me. I loved this band with and without Sonny. There's more to a band than just one member, you know?
Sure are.. all grown up now lol I still reminisce about those days. Where did time go.. I still listen to a lot of the music though mostly everything mostly..
Reunion and new EP (2013)[ In November 2013, Matt Good, Derek Bloom, Matt Manning and Travis Richter reunited as From First to Last and launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the recording of a new EP. Good said he also reached out to Sonny Moore to see if he would be interested in contributing in some way. OH MY GOD... IM SO HAPPY
Matt Good is one of my favorite people ever. He can actually sing really well and has his own unique style of singing and guitar playing. I respect him a lot. He stood up like a man and took charge when Sonny stood down. He made the best of the situation he could and he did an amazing job. And now Matt's all with Craig making amazing music in d.r.u.g.s. FFTL inspired so much in todays underground rock scene. They are legends. And something about Skrillex. Get over it.
This song is my childhood 2024 still my favorite song. Anything Matt Good sang is my favorite he def carried the band after Sonny. Playing Madden 09 after getting home from school and hearing this and going outside riding bikes with my friends. RIP Dylan I miss you brother.
I didnt remember this song at first but when i heard the lyrics i had so many flashbacks to madden 09 and jamming to this. Good times( im not crying you are 😭)
I know a lot of people wouldn't think of this very highly, but some 2000s emo stuff feels really nostalgic (in a way where it's not just old memories, but it even felt like that back in the day.) I some a weird memory of listening to this for the first time in 2010.
This video always continues to amaze me. They held their own and Matt is god tier in this video. I love this band to death and they have gotten me through some rough patches in life. Seeing the reunion was a dream come true. But FFTL album follow up after sonny left was absolutely great
