You're absolutely right!I'm in the same condition with the owner of this house.I'm in a deep depresse even if a take a medical care.I feel better about my mood but I can't do anything to clean my house except cleaning the dishes and the pots that my cats are feeding.L keep my toilet very clean but not all the room.The floor is dirty full of newspapers and l don't clean my cat's poops.The smells awful but l can live like this way cause I've use this chaos.I try very hard to pick the garbage from the floor and wash it.I'm desperate cause of this and I feel awful.My depression 's get me worse.Nobody visit me and the reason is obvious!Sorry if I make you feel tired and discussing but my point is that this is huge problem and a mentally illness.Thank you all and please,don't have but feelings and don't be criticals to us!Bye from Corfou island Greece! 🇬🇷❤️

@@teresaellis895 Yeah, in most place they put a really large container of recylables through a scanner and if it finds anything nonrecylcable (a bit of peanut butter on the side of a jar, a cap that isn't recylable when the bottle is, etc) they just throw the entire container away. She'd probably make things worse by trying to recycle because there's no way the recyclables are clean and cleaning them would waste her time (and use soap and water which might make it not even environmentally worth it). I hope she doesn't feel too pressured, it's silly to talk about recycling from homes where concerns include zika from mouse droppings.

The hyper-focus ability of ADD/ADHD people is a real thing and yet it can be exhausting physically and mentally. Most people cannot keep it going for too long as it can precipitate a sort of collapse. Unfortunately, many neurotypical people see the hyper-focus and expect that the person can do this at will. Not true: it depends upon stamina and physical requirements, health status, age and experience of the individual. Many learn to do it for employment purposes but are too tired to be effective at home. Compassion is appropriate. What was the saying about not judging someone until you have walked a mile in his shoes? Try ADD/ADHD shoes on for size and perspective. Barbie has it!

A more accurate description is the inability to choose what to focus on, rather than a lack of focus. And an inability to switch focus at will. Hyperfocus is amazing… when the stars align and it happens to be on something important. But, that’s not always the case. Obviously this guy’s hyperfocus is on his job (which is important) and he just can’t switch in and out of that to focus on cooking and cleaning. One day he could be spontaneously all about cooking or cleaning, though, ‘cause the hyperfocus rarely sticks for long and switches to something else for a chunk of time. Perhaps this experience will spark that, who knows. But also, and I don’t know if this is common with other ADHD people, but dirt just doesn’t exist to me unless I can see it. In theory, I know invisible germs and whatnot exist, but it just doesn’t occur to me to clean until I can actually see some dirt. Out of sight, out of mind. Which obviously means the dirt could build up a little bit before I think to clean it. Also, when there’s something else I need to focus on, that’s when I’ll get a spark of motivation to clean my whole place. People tend to put this down to procrastination, but it’s more accurate to say that I’m clearing the visual distractions to help focus on the thing, it’s a part of the process. Computers can be a whole different ball game, though. I can get so sucked into hyperfocusing on something in the computer that nothing outside of the computer exists, which may be what’s happening to this guy as well if his job is in the computer 🫠

Also, even when you see the dirt, you might get distracted before cleaning it. You might go to fetch some cleaning supplies and notice something else that needs doing or discover that you’ve ran out of something and either get preoccupied doing another task or forget to buy more of the thing you’ve ran out of. Which can happen quite a few times before you eventually buy more cleaning supplies and get round to it. Basically, as soon as you close that cupboard or leave that room, the dirt or the need to buy cleaning supplies might not exist anymore 🫠

If this guy can afford $1000 (which you definitely deserved) why doesn’t he hire someone to come in & clean every few weeks?

It's always the people who never clean themselves that judge the most. They have no idea the amount of work that goes into this.

They don't know that most things are not even getting recycled by these companies...they ship their garbage to the 3rd worl countries like Thailand, Cambodia etc. and it gets burnt or scattered there. People are so clueless, search it yourself ...

Most of the jobs you do for free are massive jobs that most people wouldn't even do for lots of money. I don't think the average person really understands the extremely unsanitary and sometimes dangerous conditions you are dealing with, if they did, they wouldn't give you a hard time about whether you recycle or not

Even if she wants to recycle like the plastic cups, pour away first, wash and dry them.Then you can recycle. If anything that is contained, nothing can be recycle. You are doing a great job already. Well done❤

@@leeheongow8014 It's the same thing where I live. You must wash & dry the cups (or whatever you're trying to recycle) before throwing it in the trash. YES, they separate the garbage from the recycling at the dump. So, once you've taken the time & effort to clean the items, you mix it right back in with the rest of your trash. I still have a separate can for garbage & my clean recycling & bag it up separately. I'm trying!

He needs a cleaning lady two times a week. He can afford it and it would help him learn too… and enjoy a clean environment. 😊

Yes I believe that because if you are taking care to do your own recycling it would be fine but when you are doing other’s apartments you don’t know exactly what is involved and if you throw in something that is contaminated it would contaminate the whole bag so sort of defeats the purpose

Yes, I've heard the same. I have been recycling, neighbor quit recycling and said, we go to the trouble to rinse, sort and put two different bins out and the truck picks them both up and dumps them in the same place. So they quit recycling. Also heard the bottle caps and bottles if on, they throw that bottle away. You have to separate the caps because different plastics, until the bottle makers get on board with a material for cap they can use.

I think now they say it's closer to 20%. Ppl have no idea what gets thrown in landfills. My husband use to pick up the dumpsters at a major home improvement store chain and I was astonished at the still new in packaging items that were headed to the landfill. My husband saved things that were on top. He didn't "dumpster dive". Worry about recycling some plastic cups is very miniscule.

I was thinking the same thing, watching his most recent video. Especially with hoarders we need to cut them some slack and just toss everything.
