I thought promotions were every 52 weeks until you made it to the position's full promotion potential. 🤔
@Youonlyloseyourself
@Youonlyloseyourself 7 месяцев назад
@@omo2023 yes that’s correct. However, there is a thing called “hiring authorities” in federal Jobs. That ranges from someone who has a disability, a veteran, and a lot more. Each of these hiring authorities, some comes with a points structure and also it comes with different hiring clauses for example: a job that is posted with a veterans preference, that veteran is not subjected to the normal “52 week” wait which is time in grade to get the position. Hence why a lot of people are able to climb the ladder fast. Please note not all jobs have veteran preferences. USA job is a please read job board! Good luck
@omo2023
@omo2023 7 месяцев назад
I think what threw me off is the way you presented your message originally. Yes, using DHA can get a person into a higher grade quickly and since they really wouldn't have much time in federal service based on your timeline, starting a new probationary period wouldn't hurt them at all. However, if the person was in a career-conditional position and got a promotion in less than 2 months, that's new to me because generally, you must wait 3 months before transferring/promoting, but again, if they're applying to a DHA position or other positions where people could qualify under certain circumstances, it's doable. This is not happening in an intern program though.

Shoutout to the AUC Dual Degree Engineering Program. I did my program in EE through Morehouse and Georgia Tech. I wasn’t really hearing the word “cybersecurity” back in the early 2000s, and IT wasn’t on my radar at that time. 20 years later, I’ve finally transitioned into the industry!

It can be done I was hired as GS 05 GS 06 GS 07 after my first three years in active Army was over. I later came back into the Army then i retired from the Army and then hired into a GS 12.My point is this if you want into civil service positions apply apply apply all they can do is say yea or nea. Its more focused on experience. the degrees dont matter anymore how i know because i got hired as a GS12 last June and i brought it up and my director even told me straight up. Its the experience factors now over the degrees. Its about the years of experience you bring. Id say go for the highest gs grade you can and dont take no low gs position

Ouuu good call with Teal and ISC2, i didn't know about either! I jumped on that CC course. I love to hear about Arielle Baine's non-profit. I am inspired by the idea of tech being the base for human-centric missions. Hmmm.. any canadians know a gov link in canada that lists GocTech contractors? Our gov website is hard to navigate and I wanted to start looking job postings on actual company websites to get familiar with common terms, as suggested by the two ladies above. Actually I'm sure it's not hard to navigate, but I am coming in from a touring life and I've been on the computer more in the past month (soooo interested in this possible career path im like.. gunna go for it I'm pretty sure) than my in the whole rest of my life lmao. Thank you as always for a brilliant video :)
