Currently, there are 114 auto brands in China. According to data from the China Passenger Car Association, the top 15 brands account for 70% of the country's total auto sales, with the remaining 99 brands dividing up the remaining 30% of the market.
So, how does the quality of Chinese auto brands stack up?
In this episode, we'll examine the brand "Hongqi" or Red Flag in English, followed by information about BYD.

Every country/territory do. This is why Tata cars (from India) are illegal in the west. Not only do they not comply with safety regulations but also emissions. At present time here in Canada, we can import several cars from China but none are "street legal". We use them as a cheap alternative of motorized vehicles on farms and such, just like golf carts but with much more power. Even if they break down over time, their initial cheap price makes it advantageous.

A similar thing happened here in Australia a couple of years ago. This bloke bought a brand new Jeep and it broke down and /or had to be taken back to the dealer around 35 times in a short period of time. The owner eventually gave up after trying to get the car replaced from the dealer and took his car to a paddock. He advertised that people could come and smash it with sledge hammers, which they did, and he eventually finished it off with a large excavator that he had onsite. Oddly enough Australian law states that an item must be either replaced or the owner refunded if the item is faulty or doesn't fulfill it's intended use. Jeep didn't want to know about him. I can't remember the outcome but he car was destroyed in the paddock.

Even with massive government subsidies they still can’t make a quality product. I’m in Australia and I’ve seen a few BYD dealerships pop up around the place I give them 5 years snd they’ll be out of the market. To be fair there should be massive tariffs on these cars as they are undercutting quality cars but because the government is pushing green vehicles these cars are given a free ride. People need to realise these pieces of junk create more carbon than a combustion vehicle and are so much more of a safety risk but the consumer is brainwashed and think they are doing the right thing. If you don’t think these Chinese car manufacturers are stealing your information you are very naive. I get all governments do it but I’d rather it be my own country listening than some foreign power who just wants to dominate everyone else. The CPC has made a massive mistake, they think by stealing all this technology from Legitimate companies they’ll be able to produce the equivalent or better product but how wrong they are. The world is catching on and is turning its back. Within 20 years China will be what Russia is today and India, Vietnam, Thailand and Mexico will dominate world manufacturing and then 20-30 years after that it’ll be Africas turn. It’s all swings and roundabouts the problem is China hasn’t taken advantage of its boom to create a strong home consumer market.

Attracted by China's affordable prices and profit potential, businesses from the West frequently enter and succeed in the market, praising its favourable conditions. However, local competitors supported by the state arise over time and alter the landscape. Tesla and Uber are among the firms that confront challenges from the government, and some eventually discover the market too intimidating to work in. This pattern has persisted since the 2000s, despite a conspicuous historical trend. Why the world doesn´t learn... Most developed Asian countries withdrew from China a long time ago when they saw this, yet businesses from the EU and the US continue to invest in China. Which is still receiving funding for development from the EU....

Customer satisfaction is last place unless the customer is a big wig in the CCP for then there can be severe consequences to that particular customer being unhappy. If the only way to make that customer happy is to (for instance) give him a new replacement car, even fitted out with special features, for no charge then that is merely the cost of doing business and less costly than the customer staying mad or getting angrier. For everyone else without the clout, it all take your chances and hope for the best.

Having work for 2 mainland chinese companies , the first early on in my career and the second right before covid hit , i have sworn off ever having anything to do with such companies although their salaries can be substantial. Their company SOP or rather the lack of it is jarring. After a difficult day deciding on suitable methods and approach in handling products and services, you found out right before the operation starts the next day that it was scrapped that morning itself and employees have to individually check in with their bosses (who are always at this kinds of meetings) on different sop's on the same product . Mind you this happened more than 40 times in the span of a year. Even then the level of customer and after sales service is near non existent. God have mercy if you try to salvage an existing customer from leaving , the boss will call you in to be reprimanded for trying to jeopardize the company's operation as well as trying to pilfer the client from the company . So this here story hits the spot.
