50 cents for more bitter gourd? Where to find? The customer is living in another world. Everything is so expensive now. No need to feel sad and cry over a customer who has no understanding of inflation. Kudos to these young graduates. Salute 🫡 Jia You
100 dry bowls daily, so assuming 150 bowls total given that soup is less popular. At the median price of ~$7-ish (from her signboard), that is 31.5k monthly gross revenue Given the F&B industry standard of 5% net profits margin, that is 1.6k-ish monthly. That is pathetic for a university graduate. What turns the whole story around is that the sisters are expanding their business, turning them from hawkers to businessmen With their collective F&B empire, that is a very respectable 9.5k-ish of profits monthly. Still... 5k each when you have to work 365 days. Nursing is probably a better deal, unless they expand even further. Their overall annual compensation is about the same as a fresh graduate in 2024, except that they have several years of working experience already but am taking on business risk (and upside)
Maybe that part is scripted. i think that they trying to say is running cost is very high and hence the selling price, not because they are out to cheat money
Proud of the sisters. The whole story was covered within 22 minutes and I'm there were lots of pain along the way before seeing the success. Mesmerized by the courage from these girls in the world's most expensive city. Persistence breaks away all the obstacles and explores the opportunities. All the best wishes and have a great success ahead. with love from Melaka.
50 cents for a free meal. It's all these old folks that make Singapore a great and wonderful place to live in. We must really learn from our elders to be calculative and take advantage of every situation that we can.
lol I detect sarcasm but I generally agree, I find some old folks totally sickening, like my FIL, declaring unattainable standards and picking fights, bullying ppl
@@1965Singaporean If I can buy a HDB for 50k and sell my HDB for 600k, I won't call it suffering. Are you really sure the boomer generation were more hardworking than the generation before them and after them? We are facing brain drain because of certain brain-dead people.
Being a hawker isn't easy - the early mornings, long hours, and constant standing on their feet. It's not just a job; it's a relentless commitment. I deeply admire and respect their dedication and perseverance. Kudos to them for their hard work and determination! Wishing them continued success in their business endeavors. I definitely need to go and try their dry ban mian with chicken cutlet or mee hun kway one of these days.
Nothing but respect and they have achieved such results because they remained resilient and never take the easier option to give up. Kudos, truly inspirational.
These singaporean girls are not your typical entitled singaporean one. Well done, girls. Wish you both great success. Very good programme. It is very inspiring 👏 to our youngsters. How come our graduates can't find job ?
2 beautiful sisters n a wonderful supportive mother. It’s so tough what all 3 of u are doing but precisely by doing it , all of u have become such lovely people.
This is a true example of how grit and having faith can overcome anything in Singapore. More power to them they deserve all the success that is coming their way
Bravo girls....u doing fantastic leh....when im back to singapore , will sure go to taste your food. Hougang centre.... Your service from the heart is priceless....BRAVO!
These two sisters are an inspiration for any entrepreneurs out there! I wish you both continued success in your expansion journey! You have both shown commitment and resilience amid the challenges. Kudos to you both! And please remember to take care of yourselves too! 👍
actually stay nearby and tasted the previous and current stall. must say that the taste is almost identical i just thought they had a rebrand! very inspired and will patronise them more. jiayou girls!!
Food business is a tough, thankless job. Can't make too much profit, especially in hawkers. Margins are thin. My hat's off to these young women, they are very strong and persevering well. Wish them all the very best!

Mickey Rooney once said: "You will surpass failure on the way to success". It is hard at the beginning. it is manageable in the middle. it will bloom at the end. keep your heads up. Respect and love to the two young lady.
mad respect to the 2 ladies. hopefully they can balance work life, because 1 stall is already taxing, now they run total 5 stalls... it will be affecting their social life
Singaporeans are spoilt. The price of a simple bowl of Lor Mee in Melbourne is $18.40 and a cup of coffee is $5.00. Appreciate & encourage these young girls for trying to make it as a hawker.
Very very inspiring!!! 🎉🎉🎉 congratulations seeing u and family work hard and growing well is so good feelings 😂 good and positive attitude means everything!!
Very toughing stories of your hardwork and trying times of giving up totally at one point of time.. Fortunately your perserverance and hardwork had paid off to being successfully having at least 4 stalls and one restaurant . Keep up the good food standards and I am very sure all Singaporeans will patronise your stalls once your stories had reach out to them. God bless
I admire their resilience & courage at their age in this age. Jia you! Definitely positive role models for esp their generation. Hope to be a patron if I’m nearby. ❤
The girls have such a good mom. When I wanted to do the same many years ago, my parents discouraged me and even accusing me that I will treat them as workers (even when the business was just an idea that time).
When studying in SG, i felt those dishes, such as ban mian , just ok lah, a bit plain if eat often. But after leaving Sg a while, when i see it, together with many hawker center food, i kind of miss it :)
Only $7k to take over this stall business and being shown how to cook and run a business!? That's a great deal. the rest is pure dedication, take your time, you will succeed.
Only after I moved overseas then I realised.. Actually hawker food cheap and good. When I tried to make it myself, so much work is involved in hawker food. In comparison, Western food like pasta, fries burger are very easy to make
I wish u all the success for all your hard work, a word of caution take a day off a week from a long time business woman. Sometimes it is wise not to bite more u can chew and need to establish funds and improve current business rather than rapid expansion.
Rental cost is too high. Why charge such high rental? Is it justifiable? How much margin are these landlords earning? What can we do to tackle these issues to help our hawkers?
It’s supply and demand, basic economics, you d umbfk. There is always someone willing to pay higher and higher prices to outbid others and get the stall. Thats the reason for the high rental. And the landlord being a logical person will obviously choose the tenant that bid the highest. The tenants are the ones causing the rental price to rise

Nooooo, with the restaurant you are working your butt off to pay high rent to the landlord. I wish you well with restaurant. I feel the high rent will hurt you all.
knn which stupid customers thinks they cheating the customer to make things more expensive... my bto estate food are much more expensive than that. Their prices are really reasonable and I will be more than happy to support them
