How did a thrift store mystery of a young woman singer turn into a way for me to save myself? I found Becky's album and I started unlocking things I held inside about last year. The New Years tag is so personal and I share with you the RU-vid Creator of the year for me, my special " word" for 2024 intimate confessions of my favorite memories and insults...and a vow not to be so afraid of what may happen tomorrow...and just live & love for today.
Thank you Becky Baker...all these years later, you are still touching hearts and changing minds.
I had a good week - it was cold here in Michigan. I went to 2 of the largest thrift stores and had a blast! I found a small wine table, lovely pottery, a copper compote I just cherish and other assorted items I show you in my home. I love those candle holders...they look so romantic in person all lit up!
Thank you all so much for being here! The highlight of my week is for me to be able to spend Saturday night with you all!

I was diagnosed with a very aggressive, hard to treat breast cancer 2 years ago. I went into it thinking that I will do everything I need to do to defeat it. My family supported me. It wasn’t easy, but I came through it …..not focused on the cancer, but what my life was about - my beautiful children and grandchildren. I was one of the lucky ones…so far, and I thank God every day for the gift of life.

Not the cancer...until Melissa55 I had never even thought of this dynamic...this amazon desire and passion to be our authentic self through all the pain and fear. I lost all my hair during chemo. One day in a Target dressing room I took my wig off and looked at myself in the mirror under those harsh unforgiving lights and said to myself, “What the h-- happened to you?” And then I said to myself, “I’m still me and I’m still here.” I put the wig back on and walked out of that dressing room and resumed my shopping ( and my life) True story

I went thru chemo but chose not to wear a wig. People knew I had cancer so I said to heck with it. Most of my treatment was thru the winter so it was stocking hats and scarves. I found that being bald was a bit liberating...🤗😉

I totally understand "alone" I'm 78 living on a large property in a 4,000 square foot empty home. I'm usually the loneliest at night going up the stairs to bed. I guess we must take the first step forward to have conversations and make friends. I think I am afraid in today's world of scams and criminals. I don't trust people.

⁠@@roxy4158I totally agree and understand If you had single friends that felt the same and were in the same situation, it would be good to have them as roommates in that 4000 square foot house. Kind of like the Golden Girls I think that would be so much fun I would love that No more going upstairs to bed with the house empty Someone to talk to at dinner Some one to ask to go shopping with or pop popcorn and watch a movie We women need support and friendship when we are single and alone People you can trust to not scam you or take advantage I wish you all the best And I’ll remember you when I walk upstairs in my empty house to go to bed It’s not 4000 sq ft , but 2400 is too big to be alone in Happy 2024 😊

This journey I'm on is such a gift.....let me count the ways. I too was diagnosed with liver cancer 11 years ago. The short of it was that I received a Donor' s liver. It's been 10 yrs now and I'm so very grateful for this Gift of Life. I talked to my Donor's Mom on the 10 th anniversary in Nov. What an awesome Mom to pass her daughters gift of life for us who were complete strangers. Thank you , Priscilla ❤

I went through Triple Negative Breast Cancer. I was diagnosed in 2018, had 5 months of chemo and had a bi-lateral mastectomy . We live in a small community and I chose to journal my experience in Facebook posts. I learned that some women had never had a mammogram. Some women were afraid of the discomfort , scared the radiation was worse than the disease, afraid that their husband would leave them if their breasts were disfigured or removed. My journal covered everything from promoting early detection, all of the diagosing procedures, the poking the prodding, the classes about what to expect, the incredibly kind and wonderful nurses that take you every step of the way to the day you are ringing the bell of completion! I am 5 years cancer free, still have checkups but the further down the road I get the better I feel...I AM A SURVIVOR!!

My word for 2024- BRAVE. I am fighting my FOF (FEAR OF FAILURE). I am unemployed & starting over. I am my harshest critic. With others I am a great supporter, encourager and fan. This is very, very hard. Please know you are not alone out here. There are strangers like me who understand.

My word for 2024 is healing. The year for me ranks about a 2. Lots of health issues and was laid off from my job of 14 years. I’ve struggled to find a new job that’s the right fit so I had to settle for one I’m over qualified for, underpaid for, but it’s a job for now! Waiting on biopsy results which are pointing to a type of blood disorder causing lesions in my spine. So once they figure this out I hope to heal. Both physically and emotionally from this horrendous year. Ready to redefine my life after 50 (well almost 53…..) ❤❤❤. Love your channel and am so happy I found it this year (one of the pluses)

Congrats on your wonderful accomplishments. I love the sign that says Friends are the family we chose. As I get older my friends are my connection to the world. Being retired I am not as social so spending time with my loved ones is more important then ever. I’m going to Europe with my girlfriends from different states & countries for 3 weeks this summer so my word for 2024 is travel. I will be traveling alone for a but I can’t wait!

I think 2023 was the year I became extremely grateful for everything in my life. I’ve always been grateful ,but I really understood how many wonderful things we have in our life , the kids and grandkids, in law kids our beautiful vintage home, and just everything we have! I truly embraced gratitude. Going forward into 2024 I want to continue that although I don’t think I’ll ever lose it now. I wake up every morning grateful for that day and every wonderful thing I get to enjoy. This year my goals are to tackle the things I’m sick of dealing with every year. I want to get my health where it needs to be ,my weight where it needs to be ,and I want to get better at spending less ,and saving more. I finally figured out the lighting issues and camera issues with my channel and I really want to try to bring my channel back and enjoy creating again. My husband‘s on the same journey with me And I’m very excited about this year ! I truly believe it’s going to be a good year, dare I say a great year! As usual I enjoyed your beautiful video and it amazes me how I think there can’t be one more thing she can do to make that home more beautiful and then you find it! 😂

I lost one of our small dogs a shih tzu , Jack Daniels he was 9,5 years old, it was sad, I lost my brother and my best friend last Feburary . I watch Melissa too she is so inspiring, I love watching you and Desi. I had a woman tell me (in my 30's ) I don't like you because you are skinny' I said 'Well, that's intelligent of you!' We got a new puppy for Christmas from our youngest son and his wife, I named her Maggie Smith for the actress. Oh and I quit smoking, have been quit for one month today!

the happiiest moment of 2023 was when i got my new apt. i was so stressed out just working to pay almost all my wages to this landlord .now im going from 2250amonth to 659 a month and it is so much nicer at this new place so glad i pursued this housing .the hardest part is downsizing going to smaller one bedroom from what i yave now but it is so worth it .i am looking forward to being with the people there i already know quite a few tenants so there will he so much more fun for me . yes my word for 2024 is FUN ...board games , events, the free bus stops out front of my window .so glad i went to senior center they were a wonderful help in my new journey with all the paperwork involved big shout out to Kaylyn M. youre the best.If i had not syarted watching your channel i might still be stuck in a rut but your courage inspiried me to bust a move .thank you little poet Happy new year to you and Desi

Glad 2023 was pretty good for you. Was the worst year of my life I had so much loss starting from January right up to the end of the year and now I have to adjust to living alone and being sad. At 69 I just don’t like being alone after being with my husband for 40 years. I’m gonna work on it though and see if I can try to have happiness again. You look very happy and it shows 💕

No one here to help care for me like my husband used to is just kind of hard, but I’m fortunate for the life we had together. I appreciate your kind words.

My special word: humor. Sometimes life throws a curveball and I’d rather try to find a laugh (at myself usually) where I can if it’s possible. Life isn’t easy and is sometimes absurd; we are flawed as humans but it sure helps to have good humor rather than bitterness. And to remember to have compassion. I look forward to your videos.i follow Melissa 55. I had breast cancer when I was 32 so when I found out she was diagnosed with it I kept her in my prayers. I was originally. From Ky. So I know of a lot of places she talks about. She is very uplifting . When you have had cancer and survived it makes you a much more great full person.

Jeanieturner I had breast cancer when I was 35. Then again 25 years later in the same breast. It was stage 4 that time. This was in 2013. Today I am healthy, retired and living in my small cabin by the lake. Life doesn't get any better that this. Cancer gives a new perspective on life and what is truly important.

You’re so genuine I feel like I’m listening to a long time friend 😊 I’d rate my year a 4 only because I stayed in a job I hated and was ultimately let go - I learned never try to make 💩 smell like a 🌹! I’m 61 unemployed but I’ve turned it over to God. In spite of my personal 4 - The best thing was my husband of 38 years quit smoking - it took an angioplasty but I’ll take the win! I started the gift of words. I’m making a scrapbook for my daughter which has one word per page. I gave myself the word SOLUTIONS, witch at the moment fits me. I just love you Susan!!!! I look forward to your videos every week. You're so genuine and totally relate to us. You make me feel like you're talking just to me and that you appreciate our conversations as much as I do. I just watched another channel right before this video, the lady on that channel has always been so nice but tonight she looked into the camera and told her viewers we are just a camera lens, she doesn't see us or know us and is starting to feel reluctant in sharing her life with us. I know she doesn't know us but it just felt so hurtful to say that to her viewers that we are just a mere camera lens. Anyway, thank you for making us feel real and loved....thank you for sharing parts of your life with us ....thank you for being YOU!!! Hey Sue’s and Desi! What a beautiful tag! You are happy I see it! Been with you, Desi and Cooper for years and you seem very content in your beautiful new home with all your treasures! My year was a 5 maybe? My best friend…sister of 52 yrs passed. She had pancreatic cancer and it was a year of sheer Hell…a week later my dr of 17 yrs suddenly passed and then my friends mom 2 weeks before her 90th birthday the week of Thanksgiving l.ltoo many deaths too many tears. I’m snapping out of my depressed state of mind and focusing on my artwork again. Not passing any invitations that I did last yr. Going to try and live my life to the fullest. Happier is what I will focus on. Health enjoying my husband, son and beautiful grandchildren…..I was hysterical when u told the story of the women in the comment that didn’t like you. People amaze me with their cruelty and candidness! Well….maybe we don’t like Her! Lol…..enjoyed my friend…see u both next week❤🩷Happy New Year!!!

I want to always strive to be a better person. I have a new person in my life! My word for 2024 is “transition”. I plan to retire this year. I’ve enjoyed a nursing career spanning 44 years. Lots of changes have happened in the medical field since I started in 1980. Also, my dad passed away this past year. So thankful to have had him all these years and blessed to still have my mom. So lots of changes happening but I’m ready to embrace them. I unlocked how I felt finally too, how much time I spend every night watching RU-vidrs! I have wrote letters, send cards, & gifts to several and never heard back, disappointing!! I finally realize these women are not here to make friends (even those so many say HI friends, so thankful for you) they are here doing a job! However they will be friends with other RU-vidrs.
