I can’t believe you’re in Seoul…….i visited there in June and am going back next year to travel around Korea and Japan. Ohhhhhhhh girl I’m sad you left my hometown of London but I’m excited for your new adventure.
Oh woww you’ve been here before and are coming here again next year🤭?? Can u hit me up with ur recommendations plsss😚 tysm - I hope you’ll enjoy these new Seoul series 😌💕
@@maggie.yanggg oooooh definitely. I can’t really help with eating out as I travelled alone and in many traditional restaurants in Korea they don’t do tables for just one person unless it’s a chain restaurant. You guys should definitely go to Banpo bridge at night (between 7.30pm and 9pm) they have a daily water display with lights and music. You can sit right by the water, order takeout and watch the display. Also go for breakfast or lunch at Hongjecheon cafe which sits right in front of a waterfall. It’s so tranquil right in the middle of Seoul. When you go to Itaewon there’s a great Thai restaurant called Buddhas Belly I think 🤔 but the food is nice and you can sit out on a ledge overlooking a view of Seoul. Also take your passport with you if you’re going shopping for clothes etc and or even at daiso and olive young as you get a tax rebate as a foreigner. Most shops do it automatically so you don’t have to do it at the airport when you leave but you might have to spend over a certain amount but it’s not a lot. I’m sure you’ll do the usual tourist places like Namsan, DMC etc. Even though it’s colder you should definitely hike some of the mountains in Seoul. If you go to Namsan go just before sunset….the view at sunset is beautiful. I didn’t get a chance to go myself and I’m not sure when the season starts but try and go to a baseball game, they’re supposed to be another level in Korea. I’m going to go to one next year. Hmmmmm….what else? You could do a weekend ( or even a day trip ) to Busan by the sea. The train system in Korea is very good and you can get to most parts of the country really quickly by train. When I go back next year I’m going to spend a night in a traditional Korean house. It’s supposed to be a really nice experience. If you’re doing the usual tourist places like the palaces etc check before you go as from memory most of the palaces and museums are closed on a Monday. For eating out I would say you’ll get a much better experience of the true taste of Korean food once you start eating in restaurants. The takeout is good and I did it a few times but eating in the restaurant is always better. Especially the ones you happen to stumble upon in the little side streets. As there are two of you you’ll be fine getting served. If you’re looking for places outside of Seoul I’ll send you list of the places I plan to visit next year. If you let me know what specifically you would like ideas on I’ll see if I can help. Also….just a tip. There are seats on the tube for the older gentleman and ladies….even if they’re empty…do not sit on them…you’ll know why if you do!!!🤣 Oooooh definitely try a traditional sauna. You’ll find them all over a Seoul. I’m not sure where you’re staying but I was in Jongo so I was right next to the Cheonggyecheon stream. It runs right through a part of downtown and is a nice place for a run, walk or sit at anytime of the day. Also Google maps won’t work in Korea so download Kakao maps. Your travel card can be used on the buses, train, taxi and some convenience stores (depending on the one you purchased). You can top it up at convenience stores or with the machines at any station. Don’t put too much on just in case you lose it though. There are lots of good night markets…besides the famous Netflix one so try some others. I liked namdaemun. Shopping for anything high end you could go to Lotte department store on the top floors is all duty free but you have to haves both your passport and proof of your flights leaving Korea. Insadong is a nice little area for cafes and galleries. It also has some nice shops but they’re for tourists so a bit more pricey. If I think of anything else I’ll let you know. You’re going to have the best time in Korea!!!
Oh I forgot, you should definitely go to the DDP, it looks like a big spaceship at night with lights that change colour. It’s huge and very impressive. I’m an amateur photographer so I took lots of photos in Seoul but the DDP was by far my favourite place to take photos. It’s a nice place to just walk around. And yes, people are very friendly in Seoul so don’t be worried about going out and about on your own. Obviously nowhere is 100% safe but I never felt unsafe at all.

I love Asia, especially being Asian myself. But the only problem is they use WAY too much plastic for everything over there. Convenient but terrible for the environment 😭😭😭
yeahhh I agree ... The packaging for everything is so neat & perfect but I've noticed how I now have to throw trash (plastic waste) way more than usual 🫠
