Tibetan, Nepali and Mongolian all have one common name for a hard liquor distilled at home. It is called Arak. It is almost like a water very clear. I have seen in my childhood days every family distilling Arak for home use. Arak is made from grain. After fermenting with yeast it is then boiled and vapour are channeled into another container for condensation.
