Hello Uli, thanks a lot for your helpful videos! How is it with child? We have a 5 year old who should start school next year. Do they accept your child to forskola or to school if you don´t have your personnummer yet? Or does the child have the wait till they can start untill the parent(s) have their personnummer?

Yes, I think that it's possible. I did it without personnummer (EU citizen but still possible for non-EU as well). I would contact the Kommun you live in and ask. They normally have to give you a preschool spot within 4 months. If you're in the process of applying for personnummer there might be the possibility to use a temporary number for your child. But best to talk to someone within the Kommun so they can help with details based on your circumstances.

@@LivingSwedish It is nice to feel the fresh air, since back home is almost 40⁰. We are now looking for a place to stay for the next 9 months we will be here. The food at the Market is incredible. People are being polite and very helpful. So far so good. But many challenges. The girls are not yet at school because we don't have a "pemanent" address yet. So yes, this makes me anxious. 🥰 thank you for asking!

I'm a young adult hoping to move in for university and eventually full residence. I want to start a new life, but I'm very nervous about such a daunting thing. Would it be considered offensive to legally change my name to something more Swedish, even if I have no Swedish roots in my family?
@LivingSwedish
@LivingSwedish 9 месяцев назад
@@piecreep I think you shouldn't change who you are if you don't really want to. Think about WHY you want to change your name! Is it because of others?
@piecreep
@piecreep 9 месяцев назад
@@LivingSwedish It's mainly gender identity, but I specifically want to change my name to be able to assimilate easier and be apart of Swedish culture. My only concern is I don't want to offend any Swedes because I'm trying to be a part of their culture

You can just come here. But I would apply for a personnummer here because it will make your life easier :)

Nice one.How long does it take to get the personanumber? Someone just said that you can be scummed on blocket how true is this?
@LivingSwedish
@LivingSwedish Год назад
It's hard to tell. Sometimes it goes quickly and sometimes it can take quite a while. There is a lot of scam unfortunately. I luckily haven't come across it personally but I read a lot of stories. There are also agencies like Samtrygg where it's more legit. Otherwise, I'd say don't pay anything until you're sure it's real. Ask for personnummer of the landlord and the whole name so you can look it up online etc. At least, that's what I would do. Don't transfer any money to foreign bank accounts. I was quite happy that a 3rd party received the deposit so it didn't go directly to the landlord unless they made a case after we moved out.

Hello mmam, thanks for all the wonderful content you present, I just got a heart breaking information this morning on RU-vid, that children are being kidnapped from their parents in Sweden and given to foster families, where they become drug addicts and are some time sexually abused by the social welfare staffs , this has got me thinking a lot, please how true is this for international students, I don’t believe it’s possible with all the positive social welfare given to kids,and I hear they are gangs etc please can you clarify this issue. Am so worried please . Thanks in advance

That is so false i have never heard of that so that is just bullshit we swedish people ate not like that you said sounds more like something that would happen in american

This is totaly fake information which spreads on the internet. I'm a genuine swede and i can ensure you that this is not happen in Sweden. Of course there can be some cases there the social welfare authorities must go in and help the children because the parents are drug addicts and the children get hurt. But kidnapping no no.

In Sweden we have increasing problems with criminal clans and have had for the last 20 years or so. What happens is that social services get involved and in extreme cases if these families does not even attempt to follow the laws we have. Social services can and will take care of their children. This does not happen suddenly from one day to the next, but is a process that can take years. And the parents definetly knows there is a risk it CAN happen during that time. The criminal clans does not like this *of course* and are quite happy to spread lies about the reasons social services "kidnap" their children. Regular law-abiding families would have to mis-treat their children to an extreme level for social services to sieze them. Like in most other countries. Childrens right are strong here though. For example, it's illegal to beat you children. Which seem to be a shock for some cultures who seem to belive it's up to them to use whatever means they need to raise their children. Including violence.
