From Planning to Sailing 🚢 1st Time Disney Cruises Tips and Tricks 

On our last Disney Fantasy Cruise I was the medical emergency. I ended up in ICU in Cozumel. The cruise insurance you can get from Disney when you book will pay your transportation costs back to the states. The $879 I pa9d for the insurance paid the $39,000 air ambulance bill. Additionally it refunded part of our cruise fees because it covers trip interruption. It also guarantees a full refund if you have to cancel or the cruise gets cancelled. Best spent money I’ve ever spent for vacation insurance.

My disney cruise was cancelled because of Hurricane Irma but Disney gave me 100% refund and 25% off if I wanted to rebook. I was able to upgrade to a balcony because of it. I believe they handled the situation amazingly.

Been on 5 Disney cruises so far. By far the best exoeirences I've ever had. 3/4 days are not enough! Save up for a 7 day, you wont regret it!

The best advice is to stay the night before on Disney property or near the port. We took the risk on our first cruise and we had "plenty" of time. Flights were delayed not once, not twice but three times that day causing us to miss the ship. Luckily Disney allowed us to reschedule for next year but they did not have to. We were lucky. I will never take a cruise without spending the night before close to port. It is worth the extra cost of one night at a Disney hotel (bonus) to make sure we don't miss the ship again.

Silver here, 1 cruise shy of getting gold! I remember on one cruise, we were the next group ready to check in when we all had to evacuate the port. No one had even boarded the ship yet. It turns out that SSNs didn't match up when scanning checked luggage (from what we heard through the grapevine) and Homeland Security had to intervene. Took a good number of hours for them to sort it out but we were ultimately able to board the ship... after 4 PM! Disney did a nice job taking care of us including bringing us snacks and fruit once it was permitted. We obviously left port late as a result but the Captain assured us we would make swift time to our first port... Not only could we feel the increased speed but we actually made it to our first port ahead of schedule! Totally out of our control but the cruise itself made up for all the hardships we faced to get on the cruise itself.

When I went on my first Disney Cruise, I had hardly any plans on the boat. But then I went on my second and I did so much planning. Thank you for this video cause it is spreading help me plan. This is my favorite channel of all. Thank you for such great content!!

I'm going to be silver member in 52 days. Can't wait. I love the daily itinerary papers Disney hands out on the cruise for the activities that are happen on board. Remember to have all your paperwork with you as you check in makes everything go pretty fast!

I'm a gold Castaway member and I love Disney Cruises more than anything. My tip would be if you want to eat at Pollo or on the newer ships Remy's you need to make those reservations as soon as you can because you don't want to miss those because it's an amazing experience. My personal favorite is brunch at Palo the best!

Hi....I recommend midship, upper decks to avoid seasickness.

My first Disney cruise I took it in Nov. And never again will I go on a cruise in the Caribbean during hurricane again. But I did really enjoy the Disney boat and hope to go on it again soon.

We’re going on our first Disney cruise in November 2019. It’s a 7 day cruise. I hope I didn’t aim too high for the very first cruise. Hi michael, I usually travel in January and February for the passed 4 disney cruises, is way cheaper, for this 5th One I'm traveling this October and coming out from nyc for the 1st time, let's see how it goes, the only pro is that I'm close to home when I get back no planes. I always book a middle stateroom an always get inside stateroom . Something happened on one cruise we missed our 6am flight and we were able to get on another plane but we had to be separated cause there was not enough seats for us 5 so I left first with my 2 boys then my daughter and her dad went on a later plane. So I got to Florida on time and I told the disney transportation about our situation and that we were waiting for the rest of our family and they got there we were the only ones in the disney bus and disney cruise ship waited for us cause we were there late like 4pm that was nice of them but it felt weird that our family were the last one arriving at the ship 😅😰. I did purchased the insurance and always will cause u never know and something almost happened that day. I love arriving the ship early so i can eat and explore so my arrival time to ck in is 11:30 am but we will be there by 11 lol. After this cruise I'll be gold castaway member, can't wait to be platinum very soon. This cruise I'll be participating in the FE group and decorating my door. We always do the 1st dinning cause that's the time we eat and after we watch the show. I always bring my insulated cup so I can fill it up and it stays cold all day. Even though I get a lanyard I'm making my own with different disney designs so I will have a few to coordinate with my outfits. I want to do a transatlantic maybe for my 50th. Tfs be blessed.😇

Michael, great video as always. I agree about the landyards being convenient fir some people. However, wearing a lanyard always reminds me of work as I always wear one for access to secure rooms at work. I want nothing reminding me of work while on vacation, lol. On Royal Caribbean, they have wrist bands (much like Disney magic bands) thst you can use instead of a sea pass card. I wonder if Disney has rolled out magic bands for use on theis ships as well? Perhaps that will be coming with their new ships?

Hi Michael! What if you don't live in the States and you're flying to a Disney Port for a week on a cruise and then go back to your country. Do you need a visa?? we are flying in the day before our cruise. im too scared we will miss the ship due to delayed/canceled flights the day of sailing. we actually are flying into Tampa. WAY cheaper than flying into MCO.
