From pledge to good practice: Refugee-Led Organization Empowers Refugees in Lithuania 

During the Global Refugee Forum 2019, refugee communities in Lithuania came together, pledging to establish a refugee-led organization to strengthen refugee inclusion in the country. Four years later, the Refugee Council of Lithuania is helping refugees set up businesses in the country and has become a positive example for others to follow.
Today, refugees make up half of the organization's staff and management, and projects are designed, implemented and evaluated together with refugee participants.
“For myself, it really means a lot to be useful to the society and the refugee community,” says Violetta, Project Director at the Refugee Council of Lithuania. “Since I’m a refugee myself, I hope that I can understand the difficulties and that I can be useful for the society.”
