Married at 21. We both were in R.N. school at 25. He was always a habitual adulterer and the emotional distress took it's toll and I failed a class, just gave up on school, went back to my old job. He, of course, with my supporting him, finished and ended up kicking me to the curb for his new girlfriend. Divorced, slogging along in the heath insurance industry until I was 48. My Mom dies, Dsd has dementia and I become 24/7 caregiver until he dies 3 years later. Got into LPN school immediately (RN had a LONG waiting list) and became one of two, 52 year old graduates that day. Now, at 68, I'm retired and so glad I finally achieved my dream of becoming a "nurse." It's never too late.❤

Yep, your are "my son the doctor". I always believed in you. There are no words for how proud I am of you for the man that you have become and for the passion you have for what you do. In addition to being the best doctor I admire your passion to help others to become the best that they can be. With love always, Your proud MOM

As a person who has suffered from depression from a very young age, it has always been difficult to be passionate about anything. I have tried so many jobs & never found satisfaction. Well, I am a few years from retirement now & due to a couple of recent events, I may have accidentally stumbled upon my future. The moral of my story is don't quit! My story & my life is not over & if you are reading this, then your life & your success story is still possible. I have survived longer than I could possibly ever have imagined & hope that if you are reading this that you will not give up either.. Dr Ricky, your story about finding your passion & not giving up is so inspiring. My story about surviving even without finding passion is inspiring also. So, for everyone who is reading this, please keep working & praying for another day bc you might just win someday. Peace & prosperity to all of you who are reading this💕

Thank you for sharing your story 🤍 I studied biology and even got master degree, and now I’m in my 5th grade in pharmacy college while I’m 27, but actually days ago I’ve decided that I wanna study medicine and be a neurologist after I graduate from pharmacy college. People may think that I’m insane but what to do I’ve fell in love with it! Plus I LOVE challenges and I’m not feeling good about my self and the boring life, so I desperately wanna push myself and live to the fullest to show myself and everyone that I’m capable of doing anything. It’s a BIG challenge but that’s what makes it SO EXCITING :)

Thank you for such an inspiring story of hard work, and never quit attitude toward becoming a doctor. I am 64 and your video inspires me to start a new business that I have been considering starting for a while. Thank you again Doctor Ricky for the motivation and proving it's never too late in life to go after what you want.

Current M1 at RFU/CMS. This is a special place that truly values the non-traditional applicants who are a good fit for their institution. 90% of those who matriculate did not have any other med school acceptances. But they would rather take the student with the 3.5 gpa who is a team player and passionate for service and the profession over the 4.0 student who is not all in for the journey they are embarking on.

Yet another example of how special Ed is less a reflection of a learner's faults and more about how education REALLY SUCKS at teaching people who just need to do things differently!

It's so sad that a lot of people simply don't get the chance to become a doctor, attorney, or whatever (in poor countries it's even worse)! Although we need qualified people so much everywhere in the world. (versus me, who "turned away" from so many chances in her life 😥)

Why are there so few comments and likes? The algorithm and notis aren't doing their jobs.
