Kirby, as a 22 year old I have to say that you are an inspiration for me, and a joy to watch the videos. Most of my family are big believers of the classic gentlemen style, mainly a cousin of mine and with all that I have been a big fan of your youtube channel and all its content. Thanks for everything and cant wait to see more of this series. Love from Portugal
I certainly agree and as the same age I fully believe the correct styling and way you conduct yourself is so important. Watching Kibry's videos are always a treasure to watch and deeply informative.
I am also from Portugal, and even though I see some good examples, sadly most men (and women) dress like clowns. Stay on the path Francisco Azevedo. I utterly enjoy your channel, Kirby. Thanks for sharing.
Kirby..? Is there actually anywhere, where this type of history and knowledge has been recorded for all to see at will..? Simply a magnificent achievement... Thank you.
The tradition. The sartorial splendor. The elegance of the polite discourse. Thank you, Kirby. In this day & age of apps, instant gratification, and billionaires wearing black T shirts every day, you are fighting the good fight, sir. Thank you for all you do. Gladly buying from your business to support you any way I can.
This is such a great series. I know I will never be able to afford a Henry Poole suit, but I am glad to be along for the journey. I'm just hoping I can save enough for a Kent & Haste suit before they both retire!
Fantastic episode! The increase in production value over the past months is nothing but astounding. And may I applaud Simon for doing a fabulous job as a guest host on the show. 10/10.
Wow, what a video. I have had always interest in tweed, but didn’t know the reason. But the variance in the colors and the tradition and history that is going way back in the history now I can understand why tweed still remains to be one of the most loved fabric even today. And what a luck that it holds. Long live the tweed!
It's been a great pleasure to enjoy this journey with you on kitting out & attending your first 'proper' British shoot! Thanks again for the always excellent content!!
Thank you for doing this series and all that you do on RU-vid. Like you I too grew up in Texas, shooting and fishing. Like you I have always wanted to learn and be part of the greater sporting community and in particular the more refined English and Continental side of it. Unfortunately there is and was no guidance where and when I grew up and so I truly admire your perseverance and determination to learn and teach us. Thank you.
Thank you for this lovely insight into this tradition, Kirby and Team! The craftsmanship and appreciation of the old techniques is truely inspiring as it shows in the quality and depth of the products. I must say of all the content that is out on the internet I'm enjoying this series the most.
Very glad too see this whole process is still being done in the uk and not overseas, every country needs to be making and creating from within and not relying on cheap overseas production. Excellent series so far!
only found the channel last week and the quality of these videos are easily one of the best on youtube. the elegance and attire from kirby and others is sublime I love it,
Thank you for taking us on this journey Kirby. This is fascinating to me, and the people you have chosen to work with are all top notch. I feel like I'd love to share a pint with those fellows. Can't wait to follow along on all the upcoming videos.
It’s impressive to say the least how the productions have matured and grown over these very few years. Kudos, Kirby and team! The new chapters are as eagerly awaited as something on Netflix! If not more - high quality documentary. 👍🏽
Enjoyed the first episode although I would say that unless you are going to a "shooting house party" you really won't wear a full 3 piece suit to shoot in. No one really does that anymore especially if you are going to a "commercial" shoot. The breakfasts and lunches are rarely "formal." You definitely need "wellies" for your boots. Everyone wears them now. You definitely need "shooting socks" and garters. You definitely need a "shooting coat" for outerwear especially as the weather in Scotland can get very wet. I've been shooting grouse for over 30 years, it's a great sport.
Bear in mind though that this is a programme about tailoring, not shooting, and aimed at an audience ignorant of what really goes on at a shoot. Take away the narrative of the mandatory requirement for a five piece suit and that rather destroys the whole story arch. Most of us who shoot know that for the most part it’s a case of tweed cap and breeks, with a pair of Le Chams, a Schöffel gilet, and some form of technical coat and that’s what we’re wearing instead of the tweed suit. Since I twisted my ankle I’ve abandoned wellies and gone back to the more traditional approach of boots and gaiters over the shooting socks and I must say that, unless you’re having to go through deep streams or put up with some sort of bog, it’s actually a superior system.
Amazing video. I'm looking forward to purchasing a tweed waistcoat or two for the office for later this year. Would add a cap and or some type of bag certainly if one was available.
Great quality content as always Kirby. I start a new job in a couple of weeks and you inspired me to revisit the tailors a few weeks ago to upgrade my wardrobe with some quality threads and some new shoes. Keep up the great work, it is very much appreciated.
I live here in Norfolk England, you should try out a nice Flag driven Partridge shoot once you have your suit sorted. The Glorious 12 twelfth, followed by Partridge shooting 1st September then pheasant 1st Oct.
Such a great episode. Thanks so much to Simon for traveling to Scotland and for Kirby's team to shoot it. Amazing what those different colors can produce in the way of texture and weave. My brain definitely does not go in that direction. I was wondering what the rules, if any, apply to having a jacket buttoned or unbuttoned. Simon has his unbuttoned and both Alan and Stephan have theirs buttoned (and dare I say the buttons look like they are straining /pulling a bit). Also, I've noticed that Kirby keeps putting his, mostly left hand in his pants pocket. I've rarely, if ever, seen any of the men his speaks with doing that. In America I see men unbutton their jacket when sitting down and buttoning them when they stand.
Love your videos Kirby! Can’t wait to get my first bespoke suit gonna save up for Kent and haste, just recently used RaveFabricare based off your recommendation. Everything you show us is truly Top-Tier.
Hey Kirby. Love the content. Im a huge upland game hunting fan. I have been wanting to have a custom jacket and vest to fit with my kilt to hunt in. Any suggestions as to who may be a great company to contact? Thanks. Can't wait for the next episode!
For me, the highlight of this episode was the interplay between Simon and Ruth. Sort of flirting between two very talented craft workers both of whom have taken their respective practices to that next level. Is there a term for craft taken far beyond the mundane?
Did you consider using Harris Tweed Kirby? Could of had a wee novelty ferry to the island to visit the mill's ha ha I prefer a three button jacket so I'm looking forward to seeing the finished 3 piece
