Traveling in the Motorhome was a great experience, but it was always limiting for access to locations. Two years in a row I went north to Alaska, bypassing the Dempster Highway, and forfeiting my chance to enter the Arctic Circle. With the new rig, the Arctic is a challenge we can easily handle, so we are northbound to the top. Starting from the Canada USA border, we will be making our way through BC, Yukon Territory and finishing in the NWT at the Arctic Ocean.
I have some planned locations and adventures, which I am very excited to dive into, but I am going with a loose schedule so that we wont be missing any opportunity that comes our way.
Here's to another amazing travel season, and more stories to be told.

Dustin, my wife of almost 50 years and I have done this trip three times. Cassiar-Tuk twice and length of Alcan-Tuk once. I am under orders, we will not be doing it again, but let me tell you I will be with you all the way. Let the Journey be as important as the Destination.

@@Destination_Adventure You referred to it as an expedition, it sure is closer to that than a camping road trip. Almost anywhere, stop and safely park and walk away from the road, over the rise and just sit in silence and marvel at the vastness. Look out for any dark dots making their way towards you, those would be bears. Spend your money, your 20 bucks makes a real difference in the villages you will pass through. God, I wish I was allowed to return, lol. Not many 70 year old women want to endure the trip. sorry, I prattle on...

Boat launch. From there you launch and run out to the point and around back in to Quauccet ....spelling wrong...and let the adventure begin. The village is fly in boat in only and when gramma taight up there in the 60s we would hear the stories of the wild and crazy bush pilots that would deliver her. Fascinating history and also of one seal pup adopted there. Good luck and Bon Voyage pal

I'm an electrician, when you go through a wall, especially a metal one, you want to use a plastic or rubber gromit to keep from rubbing. A metal pass through tube is also a good solution, silicone isn't enough to keep it from wearing through the insulation of the wire.
@havnfncali1
@havnfncali1 4 месяца назад
I wanted to say the same thing. Needs rubber pass through bushings. The first trip will rub right through that wiring and hopefully pop a fuse is the best outcome.

Here's a self sustainability tip: eat lots of pike and lake trout. Or walleye or even grayling up there. We will keep cooked fish in a bag in a cool dark location for up to 24hrs and cook it again when we're ready to eat it again, which can be essential if you want to eat big fish. Rapala X Rap Perch, Mepps & Blue Fox spinners, Schishimi Togarashi and fresh garlic, sesame oil, chili sauce, soy sauce, and tons of canola oil and a load of salt should fill out your arsenal.

Envy your lack of rust on the west coast. That truck and brake line specifically would be rust dust here on the east coast. Might suggest wire grommets for your drilled hole for your cooler wire, all rough roads you drive will wear into the wire. Princess auto sells a kit of different sizes.

Hi, I have been to Inuvik some 30 years ago with a VW T2 micro bus on the Dempster Highway and also to Tuktuyuktuk by Beaver (no road at the time :). I was inspied by John Mc Phee's book "Coming into the County", a MUST READ if you like the North. I then crossed the Yukon near Dawson, over the Top of the World highway and down to Eagle/Alaska (mentioned in the book) Saw my first Northern Lights. A great trip in a small van with 50hp :)) Never failed! Greetings, Andreas

Dustin, on your way from Vancouver to Williams Lake, you could also have taken the scenic Sea to Sky through Squamish, Whistler, Pemberton, through Mount Curry and joined back onto the Fraser Canyon at Lillooet. Love this show you've put together! Absolutely love it!! Just wanted to send out a friendly jesture in regards to you wiring in your freezer. You may want to consider some rubber grommets when you're going threw the aluminium sheet metal. Your adventures can be bumpy at times, and those wires will rub on the metal, eventually arking out - failing. Thus failing your freezer and any food in it. Happy and safe trails and i look forward to your adventures to " Tuk " this season!!

Dustin, if your heading up the Alaska highway north of Fort St. John, at mile 171 just north of the sikkani cheif bridge take a left on the “Grassy” rd for 16km then another left for 1.5km to the parking area and hike into the sikkani falls, it’s about a 10 minute hike to get down to them, just don’t go in there if the roads not dry, it gets pretty bad when it’s raining!

I did do my brake bleed with the { single man brake bleeding method }} For me a 2 liter pop jug and very well washed out dried for weeks then to put several inches of brake oil in that way you don't get air coming back in. Do pump lower the oil in the reservoir so to reduce the new oil/ old oil mixing.

ANOTHER Fantastic "Workshop" Saturday edition, thanks Dustin, and welcome to the Great Canadian Adventure Emi 3:40 I have a Friend "Andy Callum" who works for the Reliable Towing on the Highway thru Hell show. 3:48 always prefered taking Highway 5, the Fraser Canyon to Kamloops, and beyond. The Coquihalla has always been called "The Car Killer" for a reason. That climb up to the old Toll Booth, has killed plenty of cars over the years, in 2008 I popped an engine mount in my 1990 Mazda B2200 coming from Merritt to the toll Booth, and spent a couple of hours trying to get it back in, a kind motorist finally stopped and helped with a jack & a chain to get it to seat, and secure it until I could get back home to North Van. 11:02 Hey Dustin DO NOT forget to put the nut on before you flare it, or you might end up short, and have to make the flare a second time..

Was great to meet you both today, thanks for coming to say hi. 😊. Next time grab a sticker, because I’m always happy to give them out. lol without folks enjoying the show, I don’t get to pursue this passion, so a sticker is the least I can do. ;)

Good morning from overcast south Okanagan, thanks again for the update. Welcome to Canada to your traveling companion, it's always nice to have company along on any adventure or so I've found. All the best to you both, safe travels and we'll see you next time.

Carry a pair of vise grips if you ever get in a pinch for your brake line 😂
