yeah.. its not one thats going to be overlooked in the future. Gone down as one of my highlights of the year - if only for historical contest - but then I did buy it! so its nothing but potatoes for Christmas!

I had an OB-8 for years in the mid-80s and liked it a lot. Sold it in the 90’s and never looked back. Now buying a new Prophet-10 Rev4 and couldn’t be more excited. This board sounds good and familiar to me from my old OB days, but I don’t feel it’s worth $5000. Just my take…

i was thinking of getting the OB-X8 desktop, and the UDO Super Gemini when it comes out. do you think there will be any overlap, or would those two make good playmates?

Probably in a minority of one here but this really doesn't sound that impressive to me. Your demos (here and on your own channel) are about the best I've seen and it still feels a bit.... meh. Perhaps it's better in the flesh but I could certainly find something better to spend the thick end of £5k on. Not that that's going to happen!

You might not have watched enough demo's on this. If you love the Oberheim OB sounds you'll love this synth. Not everyone loves that sound and if not, it's not for you.

I get that.. my comparison with the OB6 is interesting. there's a fair split between people who think it sounds much better and those that think the difference isn't substantial enough to warrant the cost.

@@StarskyCarr I’m of the feeling that as unpopular as my statement is going to be - I like the sound of the Synapse Audio Obsession plugin and the OP-Xii plugin much better over the OB-X8. With those plugs available and sounding as they do, I’d feel like I was throwing my money away on the OB-X8.

I agree with your comment on the extra controls for Osc levels and changing it the filter types. Nice video as usual!

nothing about this impresses me. nothing about this synth soundwise to me is not that impressive. if this keyboard sold for $1,000.00, I still would not buy it.
