i remember this match. i watched this match with my friends in my friend house. they support for india but iam support for watson he is always a t20specialist
Shane Watson and David Warner was the most destructive opening partnership Australia had during 2010s. They hammered us Indians in 2010 Wc and 2012 Wc with their 100+ partnership. Sadly Aus broke it in 2016 WC. Despite scoring a 124* in early 2016, Aus dropped him in the batting order for the WC and sent him at 6 in the (quarterfinal) match against India. Aus opened with Finch and Khawaja and Warner came in at 3. Followed by Smith and Maxwell. Aus got knocked out in group stage again.
It sucks :( but the main issue is because we had four quality openers. Finch was number 1 batsman in t20, Watson did well as an opener when he scored 124, khawaja was in form in big bash and Warner been the best t20 openers. It was a selection dilemma but smith at the time was t20 captain decides the batting order. It because our players were too good to be dropped.
Shane Watson has done so much for his side especially in T20I format and experiencing him represent QG,Sydney Thunders and other franchises was fantastic altogether.Happy Birthday to Watto!
And RCB used him in the worst way possible. They could have dropped gayle because he was out of form and how good watson would have been in chinnaswaamy. CSK used him brilliantly.
@@pumbadumba8341 they had kl too that season. And RCB wanted a finsiher and watson had experience in middle order playing for aus. But yeah, if watson had opened that season, I don't think RCB had needed much help from middle order coz kohli and abd were in beast mode in 2016.
No.1 white ball alrounder bowling=Wickets taker, death bowling ability+line length 140km speed with accuracy makes him a complete bowler Batting=good Technic, hard hitting ability, pickups gaps for single, double, and stole boundry make him complete batsman And also safe fielder makes him a legend white bowl alrounder He debut in 2002 and retire 2016 and he only played 190 odi in 14 years because a lot of injury not allow him to play regularly If he not Sufferring from injury in entire career he scored 10000 k odi runs + 350 odi wickets.
Back up the order, given the captaincy and t20 100! When he was announced as captain and finch was injured, watson took advantage in the batting order, put himself as the opener and it worked
*If only watto could've survived the heat of test cricket to become one of the prolific all rounder in test format he would've became a successor of great kallis (watto's career was shorter than kallis though) nonetheless he was a beast in limited overs which itself made him one of the successful cricketer*
