You are head and shoulders above the rest of the reactors, I'd like to request never tear us apart by inxs and frigid pink house of the rising sun, thanks for keeping this music heard
@@johncampbell756?? In the end is off of Fly by night, Neil's first album saw that tour in 1975, in the end was one of the most popular songs they did live with Neil, in the early years
@Randy Easy to judge people when you know nothing about their struggles or addiction. You probably think Kurt Cobain and Chris Cornell are damn fools too. F U!
I am not a conspiracy theorist..however there are Too many questions surrounding Michael's death..and they all lead to Sir Bob Geldof and...Bono from U2. Don't take my word for it. Research it yourself. RIP Michael. 🙏✝️
I was waiting for a fella to slide over to me and tell me that I was one of his kind...finally happened when I was 53. He rocked my world...sure I married him! Still a remarkable romance 8 years later. I married the wrong man when I was 25. Life always gives you second chances. I'm grateful! Love this song!
Written by the great Andrew Farriss, he and Michael wrote the whole album 'KICK'. This song was written with every main word ending in ATE. Pure genius.
KICK was the name of the album. This song was released September 1987. They were far ahead of their time in pointing out the white/black divide and the rest of the social commentary. Though the beat may be recorded a little differently in 2021, the words in the Mediate section still hold true. I was lucky enough to see INXS in concert a couple of times back in the day. A great, great band of their era.
Yes !! Agreed I’m not a musician ... but also that electronic sample whatever thing lol. They seem to be one of the first that I can recall ...? In fairness I was born 89’ lol But I feel like they don’t recognition for how the music was composed
I lived in London in the mid 1980s. INXS, Level 42, UB40, U2, Peter Gabriel, Pet Shop Boys, George Michael, Robert Palmer, Bananarama, Eurythmics, Duran Duran, Culture Club, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, and Simply Red played at all the clubs. Michael Hutchence of INXS had such amazing presence and his early, untimely death was tragic. Thanks for the reaction.
My, my. What a sexy lil thang Michael Hutchence was. Plus all that talent. Hope he's having a great life on the other side. Or maybe back again on this one.💙
I thought Michael Hutchinson wrote it? There's a scene in the INXS movie where the guitar player plays the riff and Hutchinson comes back with the Lyrics in like 5 minutes.
Really really sad story. He was murdered and it was made to look like an accidental and degrading suicide. What's tragic is that people believe the lies.
@@hollytheresee I worked in the music industry here in Oz. (Ironically contracted to work for INXS only weeks before his death.) Good friends with someone who worked as his personal bodyguard on tour. Word is he was murdered because he was setting up family with Bob Geldof's ex Paula Yates (who also was suicided a few years after Michael). Paving the way for Geldof to get custody of his children, and strangely to also win a court battle against the Hutchence family to get custody of Michael's daughter as well. I've met others in the industry who also say the same thing, but of course no one has any proof.
Dael Anthony Deal I live in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney and had my school reunion back then at the Ritz Carlton about a week after his death. I always liked INXS and when he died it was such a shock. Then Paula Yates’ death. I can’t imagine anyone having him murdered. Bob Geldof could have paid off the Hutchence family in order to keep the daughter couldn’t he? Only fair she be kept with her sisters. What a mess all this was and very sad. Also, Hutchence was into drugs so I still say he did it to himself accidentally but I’ll keep thinking about it and maybe do some googling because nothing surprises me these days. Thanks for reply.
I was on that dancefloor, too! The first time I heard this, I was driving across Alligator Alley in Florida, alone, 'round midnight, doing 90mph, with the radio on. I was excited by the beat and Michael's sexy vocals. This song blew me away!
I still can’t believe Michael wrote the lyrics in 15 minutes after Andrew did the music, He was one of the greatest. Also he would of been an awesome actor as he wanted to some more acting after Dogs In Space.
Written by Michael Hitchence + Andrew Farriss Produced by Chris Thomas. He produced Sex Pistols , Pretenders + Elton John before INXS. In 1987, this song was lit! Dance clubs played it. I saw Mexican low riders play this + walked past urban guys breakdancing to this! Fire! 😎 RIP Michael Hutchence.
Another Australian band of some note was The Divinyls. They had 1 big hit in the U.S. “I Touch Myself.” The official video for this will show you why this band was popular. Oh and the song is pretty good too.
Yeah, I would go with "Boys In Town", "Pleasure and Pain", "Science Fiction", or "Ring Me Up".. all are a bit more heavy and edgy from the Desperate LP.. The sexy video definitely put them on the global map for sure..
Chrissy Amphlett was a rock queen. Father in law has many cool stories hanging out with her. Many people will also remember her pissing on stage, it was "her thing"
I was extremely fortunate to see these guys live in the very first US show for the KICK tour. They were so great live and when they played Need You Tonight/Meditate the crowd was blown away because the album hadn't dropped in the US yet so nobody had heard it yet. Amazing live band. RIP Michael.
This minimalist sound was so refreshing when it came out in 1987, after all the years of 70s distortion-free multi-track and then 80s synths crammed into every space imaginable. This was stripped down like early punk was striving for, but more melodic, and of course they had one of the great front men to grab your ears and heart.
I can’t believe how few people have mentioned “Never tear us apart” one of the greatest songs of the 80s. You should do that along with “Love will tear us apart” by Joy Division one of the all time greatest songs
It's like that Highlander film: "There can be only one". Prob their most popular song here. Terence Trent D'arby & Michael Hutchence had been friends, & while M.H. is irreplaceable, Terence did him proud at that tribute concert.
T.T. D'arby was awesome. The perfect (replacement). If he had stayed on in INXS they would still be making great music today. Like Brian Johnson did with ACDC when he replaced Bon Scott. Ce la vie.
I love INXS and Michael Hutchence was so hypnotic. I love the full 2 video combo and I get upset when I see someone play the Need You Tonight video without the Mediate addition! They go together in mind like peanut and jelly!! LOL! Kick was my favorite INXS album! Love it!!
INXS 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺. Love love love them. Devastated when Michael left this planet. There are so many songs in their catalogue. Go find them and enjoy. The Swing album is my favourite. Johnson’s Aeroplane is my choice for best song. Go listen to that one.
INXS was such a great band and a staple of the 80's and 90's. Michael Hutchence had such a captivating presence. I will never forget where I was when I heard of his death. The rest of the band seem like great guys too. Some other songs I'd like to suggest are Kiss The Dirt, Beautiful Girl, The Stairs, Never Tear Us Apart and Heaven Sent. Original Sin is also a great song that was banned from radio stations in the U.S. because of its reference to interracial relationships and people's narrowminded views at the time about the topic.
Ahhh the late, great, enigmatic Michael Hutchins of INXS. I migrated to Australia in 1987 and way forced-fed this on commercial radio! They were big in the UK too. Other members of the band were all brothers. He took his own life in a hotel room in Sydney. It was shockingly sad😱
I had such a crush on him when I was younger. The man is so sexy, from the vocals to his movements to those eyes... I still have Kick somewhere. Might have to go find it. Such a good album. He and Jim Morrison have a bizarrely similar energy. They even look very similar, move in similar ways. Both of them had such heartbreaking lives. It’s so weird, and so sad.
This video was a key moment for me as an influence to become a guitar player. I remember I would miss the bus to school just to watch the top ten on Mtv, when this was in the top ten Mtv actually played music.
RIP Michael.😭 Such a hottie. Such an awesome time in the music world. First 10 years of MTV where we could see our favorites perform our favorite songs. 70's and 80's were wild, crazy, and so dang fun!
I remember going to a rock party once and this once the dance song . Holy cow was it wild that night . INXS are that one band who can make even the dance hater move
I miss them so much. Ah. The 80s .. my parents played all of this music at our bbqs in summer.... the best memories. I was 12! The documentary about Michael Hutchence.... so sad. I had no idea he had brain damage from some strange car/bike accident. He struggled mentally after that, and his nutty ex-wife/wife tormented him. Then he died by suicide (they reported)
The reason he had a shirt that said kick is that is the name of the album the songs were on. I remember because I played it to death throughout the 90s. And yes this was a direct homage to Bob Dylan. I saw them live at Radio City Music Hall in New York City during the kick tour. They were amazing. Michael Hutchence was an amazing front man. Such a tragedy the way he went out
KICK was a monumental album and the producer with Nile Rogers ( Chic/madonna/Let's dance David Bowie etc) if you go back and listen again you can here his influence all the way through. When great meets genius.... Lucky - Daft Punk Nile Rogers & Pharell .... Nile Roger truely is THE HIT MAKER !!!
Between the release of this album (Kick) in 1987 and their 1990 album (X) Michael Hutchence briefly joined the music group Max Q you should check out their songs ‘Way of the World’ and ‘Sometimes’
That's how we did it back in the day, funky, sexy and hot without being ... INXS This is how L.A.B does it today - Baby Will You Let Me. Checkout their other live studio performances - In The Air, My Brother, Yes I Do, Natural, Fashion Dread, Mr Reggae, Proud Man. So slide over here and give me a moment. Your moves are so raw I got to let you know, I got to let you know. Their one of our kind.
I grew up in Australia as they started....they were playing around pubs and drawing great crowds......Meditate is a bit of a homage to Dylans "Subterrainian Homesick Blues".
nxt inxs song is TO LOOK AT YOU and SOUL MISTAKE from 82. The film clip for Mediate was at the Wollongong BHP steelworks Australia in 1987 about 1,5hrs drive south of Sydneythe clip was done in 1 take they jumped the fence imagine that now wouldnt happen.
Oh wow, I've stripped to this at least 50 times but never knew about the outro. One of the sexiest songs of all time. Makes the cashed-up boomers feel young again, but still sounds super fresh to younger ears even 30-odd years later. Most importantly, I feel sexy as hell strutting onto stage and seeing everyone perk up when they recognize the opening bars. Never gets old.
Yes. This was a tribute to Bob Dylan's video for Subterranean Blues or whatever it's called. Sometimes I forget about INXS but they were really an incredible band. The album this song came from is nearly perfect. What I mean is that every song is a banger and very few albums can say that. Or something. I dunno.
Well I forgot how beautiful the extended cut is. From talking about little hubba hubba with a girl and her raw knees to an uplifting message of liberation and love positivity for this planet and all its inhabitants. Thank you. I always dug these Aussies groove that was unique to them. A lil electronic a lil rock and soul a dash of funk with just enough pop to gain commercial success and still preserve their creative originality. Dude could sing pretty nice and let the music tell his body how to boogy wiggly step spin. May have gotten some more banging tunes if things were different. RIP ☮️❤️🎵
I saw Inxs in a small outdoors amphitheater with Simple Minds in Detroit. MH had passed away. Their fill-in was pretty good. Both bands put on a great show. The only negative was that their was no one there! Maybe a few hundred. What a shame. These bands were so popular in the eighties. Inxs filled Wembley. As they were playing I was wondering how they felt. Despite the low turn out, both put on a great show and I was so happy I got to two great bands I grew up listening to on the radio.
Jamel great reaction, INXS were a Aussie band who perhaps should have been much bigger but unfortunately lost main man Michael Hutchense. For your one hit wonder list my recommendation is WANG CHUNG with "Dance Hall Days" you'll love it. Take care buddy and cheerio from Glasgow.
The 80's and 90's were 2 of the greatest decades for the music industry. Unfortunately, we lost a lot of really talented artists during that period. All we can do is keep their music alive so that their legacies will live on.
