Why is the birth rate going down? Because it's harder and harder for ordinary people to raise a family, buy a house and save for retirement. Rich people haven't stopped having kids, Elon Musk has 14, Trump has 5. Children are becoming a privilege of the wealthy and those on the government dole. Immigration doesn't make it easier to afford children, immigration increases the demand and cost for everything but labor and the young native born experience it daily.
@@Muzakman37 It's obvious in South Korea. I don't know about Japan, it's pretty different culturally, not worse at all, just different. In China the factors driving it may be different but the effect is the same. Ordinary people are struggling and want change.
@@amenbrother8818 That's not quite it. Japan,SK & Taiwan all have absolutely stunted population growth and in Japan they've finally recognized that they can't maintain what they've been used to without immigration, public attitudes have changed there. Thailand is also about to peak in its pop & then its down from there. There aren't burgeoning radical/hard right surges in any of them.
Yeah but who's to blame? You are blaming the weakest side of the equation which is the immigrants. Immigration needs to be regulated and fixed but who's to blame are the ones at the top not who's at the bottom.
@@TheTwangKingsTalking in a leftist echo chamber will never give the answer on what’s actually going on. To have a real discussion it requires the other-side be represented.
@@victorbernard1256 If the "other-side" doesn't engage in demagoguery and fear-mongering, and can carry on a normal conversation, why not. But something tells me that is not possible.
@@victorbernard1256lol! I just read the response post by thetwangkings. Isn't his / her response the classic pot calling the kettle black?! Again, LOL.
To me its obvious... the system doesnt work for most people... here in the UK I have worked all my life, bit never been able to buy a house and pay rent that has gone up 50% since covid. All other bills also sky rocketed... I have now lost job along with the team I work in, as the company we worked on IKEA wanted on rebid a third of the price... so the company has sent the work to Malaysia and SA as cheaper. So this is the answer, no one has an answer to Globalisation, AI and Immigration, that affects peoples lives. Politicians seem only able to protect the rich people and only enble the rich to get richer. So affected by globalisation like me, naturally are looking for alternatives, and more extreme politics both left and right who claim to have the answer. Of course these parties dont have the answers either. But that doesnt stop people vying for change. Company and shareholders greed fpr more profits, Neo Liberalism ideology, globalisation, immigration, AI and computerisation automation and aging population. All is to blame, and no politician is really looking to solve, because its a long term solution, with a global wide policy needed and a lot of short term pain, and the world political systems and country cooperation is simply not built that way
To add it is not the immigrants nor the people abroad doing the work cheaper at fault here... But the companies not being curtailed by government to that natural inclination to raise profit over all else, at the detrement of wider society. That is everything from companies like Amazon, Apple avoiding tax...etc goverment cant do anything.
This is why Trump rose in America. He addressed this issue and in his first term, brought jobs back. He lowered taxes, so companies came back to America. This is why the globalists hate him and continue to lie about him. Our food has doubled under ole Joe because we have higher energy costs because Joe shut down our energy independence. The only jobs he created were government jobs, like hiring 78.000 more IRS agents to go after people to pay more taxes. No matter how the media spins it, the people see exactly what is really happening.
I agree with most of what you wrote but there's this strange belief in the West that the West can end globalisation and resume as the world was before it started. The truth is we no longer have the power to end globalism because now that China is out of the bag and dominating the global markets there's no putting China back in their isolationist bag and retake those markets. We can't keep our economies robust if we don't have markets to sell our manufactures. China now dominantes markets that were exclusively for western economies like cars and technology. The West had the power to start globalism, but has no power to end it. That's the truth everybody seems to ignore.
You can tell that they fear the tv budget cut. Nobody is mentionning anything constructive anymore... we just scream and call half the population stupid, without any arguments...😅
It’s simple, when one side pushes extreme left and wokeism, mainstream ppl turn right or extreme right. Remember every action has an equal and opposite reaction.
The people who are under educated are people like your guests and unfortunately most politicians who have no idea either about economic realities on the ground or solutions to problems or even how economics works. We are in a mess because the tax burden has been taken off those who could afford to pay and who used to pay from Roosevelt right up to Reagan. Economics is if people can afford to buy business doesn't work. If the workforace isn't healthy they are not productive. If we don't fund education at all levels we will lack professionals and those we have will ask too much for their labour which will cost the taxpayers more. And if people turn to extremes it is because the mainstream centrist have let them down. Next step after Starmer = Reform
Everything that could go wrong for the average or small business man HAS gone wrong….the west’s governments acted as if ONLY the top 1% existed, in recent years 😬
You should be asking why the far left surge, because here in the real world there is no far right surge, it just seems like that to the left who have gone so far left everything normal is far right now.
This is a sociological and psychological phenom and fueled by the self-interest of each political party. The present European and USA generation, say up to the age of 50, have been enjoying a very easy time compared to the generation just after the war. This present generation wants to have everything without working for them. And i everything in the society has been getting very competitive. The political parties have made errors in migration politics, which has been an excuse for the young generation. They think, in vain and ignorance, that stopping the immigration will solve their economic, political, social problems. It is true that migration is really a big problem. the solution is to make proper and appropriate decisions together with public education. There will always be extreme minds deviating from the democratic norm. This can be taken as a positive thing for it will act as checks and balances. But these extreme right groups can never prevail as the history tells us. And Pres. Macron is challenging the civic minds of the French people. And he is right. People at the end will take responsibility of their life by expressing their minds.

That should be " Mal-educated ", not " Under-educated ".
I am concerned that what you're referring to as "mal educated" you really mean "don't agree with me". As someone who probably does agree with you (liberal, highly educated) my opinion is to allow debate to become degenerate is playing into the fascists hands. The fascists are not just anyone who thinks migration is a problem. They're a specific minority subset, and if migration and the economy are controlled then yes there will always be fascists but they cannot gain traction
🇮🇳 It's time for Far rights, The living cost is high, Employment rate is low and Migration issue as well, every country would have their own unique culture, so only Far rights government can preserve that tradition.
I respect and admire Gergia Meloni. Demographics is a matter of immense disscussion in countries around the work. And have a one trick pony will not work for any coutry. More than 8 billion on our globe. On your globe.
Just saying the right are a bunch of fascists is absurd. Lay out your arguement with facts and data to show the concern for human rights, economic issues and international concerns. Otherwise name calling comes off as an adult having a tantrum.
4 left of center (to far left) commentators commenting on something they have no idea about - right wing politics. It's like asking people who can't swim for swimming tips. Something for France24 to consider, when inviting guests...
@@Ghost-airlines Yascha Mounk isn't left at all, he's a Centrist and has been warning about this rise for years and why it will come, by far the most qualified commentator in this discussion on the topic, but your sentiment is right, no voices from the Right, not even the Centre Right.
All the cultures , languages, and ethnic groups that will disappear in the next 100 years are in Europe- there won't be a multi cultural UK or Europe, there will be the culture of whatever immigrants you allow in. That culture will eventually become THE culture. And no one will speak French or German, or Polish, etc... everyone wants to go to western countries and call themselves German or Polish or French etc.. while their culture and languages are safe at home. Being a French national doesn't make you French. Maybe I could become a citizen of China or Korea or India, but my ethnicity will not change. Aren't German, French, Polish people also ethnic groups. If the migration was in the other direction the liberals would call it colonialism or genocide.
In the new Woke ideology being German, French or Polish is something to be ashamed of. You need to suffer for the sins of your ancestors. This crazy ideology is what’s being taught at once prestigious universities. That is considered educated.
I disagree with Monk and Mason on several issues , but they had some interesting points to make, the yank dude in the studio was (were I French) an adver to vote for Bardella's party
Conservatives love order. One size fits all. Fear the people who don't look like you. Scared birds flock together. Safety in numbers when everyone looks, thinks and acts the same.
Something like 50+% of college graduates don’t use there degrees after they finish. If education is the biggest predictor of voting patterns and half of these geniuses are working baristas jobs after 4 years. Why is they’re say more dignified than the carpenters plumbers and nurses working in the REAL economy? who might ACTUALLY have an ear to the ground notion of what’s actually going on in the country
To answer this question, you need to see what is happening in Kenya. Around the world, politicians in democratic countries have ignored the grievances of the people and have pursued paths beneficial to them and their friends( lenders included). People are tired of being lied to but unfortunately, they still think they can get sheep among wolves( majority politicians).
Kenya's problem is it owes oodles of money to China and is now struggling to pay it's debts to anyone else, so they put taxes up which Kenyans didn't like. And if you think authoritarian regimes don't lie to their people 100x more than democratic ones then you might need to go back to school.
The top 1% have pushed the average citizen to the edge….unchecked immigration, net zero, higher taxes, inflation, cost of living, unaffordable housing, political correctness and on and on and on….WHAT ARE THESE PEOPLE THINKING its gonna happen? 😂🤦♂️
@@Muzakman37 Chinese investment are very visible but on the other hand, IMF investments that are tied to annual tax increment around the world are not visible. It is like IMF shares the loot with corrupt government officials but the ordinary people pay the price.
These people are hopeless. How about when your government makes it clear that it consider its citizens to be the enemy the people decide there must be something better.
Craig Copetas calls right-wing voters uneducated while only managing to name-call rather than speak eloquently and intelligently. That's the kettle calling the imaginary pot black.
@@outofoblivionproductions4015 Idk he is speaking from a French outlet and he's mostly spot on except for the "under-educated" part. Our public schools are being manipulated so often its less like kettle calling pot more like kettle calling rapist a rapist.
It’s the same in the US, the left basic strategy is to yell racist or fascist at their opponents. No logical or thoughtful arguments, just name calling. Obnoxious people who should not be in power.
They always try to switch the topic in more comfortable way when faces difficulty … leftist politics is oxygen for them and this moment they see that degrading
And if the will of the majority is that a sector of the minority is killed off, does that mean the fact that that path was democratically chosen make it an ethical path ?
I like to refresh the page to see how soon comments get "disappeared" lol. My first one lasted less than 10 min! Must of been full of mis-/mal-/dis-information
One of the biggest issues with Immigration, not illegal immigration but just immigration is the seeming failure of Governments to attempt to integrate people into a new society. Too ofter charities are taking up the slack and they dont involve themselves with integration because there are more pressing problems for them. Integration into a society which can differ massively has to be one of the keys.
@truthismycause2800 No not really. We were assimilationist until the 1960s before radical woke leftists told us that we could no longer be. Expecting migrants who come to our shores for our money, to assimilate to our culture and language is some form of cultural imperialism. In order to be good tolerant westerners, we must allow the 3rd world to use us without giving anything back in return other than joining the woke left and helping them to destroy our western heritage because it involved slavery and colonialism at some point in the distant past. As if non western societies never involved themselves in such things.
The economy is doing great in the US - I live in the US and I don't know what people (or what the media says they say) are complaining about - Biden has done a great job of cleaning up the mess after Trump Let's hope Trump never gets anywhere close to the White House. Your show was done before SCOtus ruling and the sad presidential debate - please have France 24 debate soon without gaslighting please.
Very good sir. Why are voters uneducated? Mind you in France the youth are at least aware of populist movements, their educational system is very good if compared to the UK, for instance. About critical thinking that is not taught at schools anymore. I would guess not at universities too. In the US, unlike France, is the transactional system, is about individualists and money. Thus the American lady is all.about economy, Americans are all about money. In Brazil, Lula emerged who will be then in France?
I don’t think people are running into the hands of far right because of immigration but immigration is just a coat & beneath it is the real problem. To me the economy is the main reason like inflation & the war in Europe, Middle East & the takeover of military regimes In some Western Africa countries, all this make things expensive & non of the left or centre politicians are making efforts to end or even have a dialogue with those involved rather they are pumping money into war instead of looking for the solution & for me I think fears are driving people into the far right. Then secondly France people are very wise they are trying to send a strong message to other politicians that want to misbehave like what they have now. Eg yellow vet protest, pension reform, farmers union protest & the break down of France relationship with west Africa countries. They just want to warn other politicians that all.
Why shouldn't an Italian PM encourage Italians to have more Italian babies? It doesn't matter if they are right or left leaning. Silly discussion here.
This older gentleman is oblivious to the fact that he is a model authoritarian with all the loathsome traits and rhetoric associated with his counterparts on the "far-right"! Waving and quoting from ideological bibles and denigrating parts of society that have become disillusioned with a political system where power is concentrated among elites and corporations and the voice and votes of the general public are ignored. We have been here before and one sides flavour of authoritarianism and totalitarianism is as sickening as the other.
The real issue is the rich-poor gap. The rich wants more immigrants because immigrants pays rents to them and work for them at very low wages. The relative poor have to compete with these immigrants for living places and wages. The relative poor are labelled far right because they ask for better management of immigrants
Why the surge? Just taking a wild guess, I would say maybe immigration and so-called asylum seekers. A totally new off-the-wall suggestion, I know. Like it's not been surging for the last thirty years.
Why does everybody think that this is an ideology problem that some people don't have the intellect to understand, maybe it is simply a financial and connexion problem, people see that the world evolves, and they make all the efforts(most of them) but despite that they feel atomized&alienated with the world they know and of course poorer by day.......they know that their problems cannot be solved by truth and just seek revenge and some satisfaction since they are thrown in this situation by the last guys they choose.....people are not stupid!
