Trigger was once a wild horse but you'd never tell it from this ranch riding run.

I watched this run! We were sitting by you watching the show and so wanted to say hi but didn't want to intrude on your day. Thank you so much for sharing and helping others learn.

Great performance! He was so laid back in the warm-up. He didn't seem interested in the other horses and what they doing except for the couple that appeared to get in his space. And then he just looked at them.

Trigger's ability to take in what was happening and understand what we were there for demonstrates his intelligence.

Mustang shows are terrific! They give Mustangs and their trainers a chance to show just how good they can be. Trigger was pretty solid in his behavior, and that is a great way to get started! I am looking forward to watching his growth in training as well as the shows he gets to!

You are so right! If the show situation is stressful it's going to put him in a negative mindset for a long time. When he realizes it's business as usual it's setting him up for even more success the next time! Beautiful run. I always think you are your own hardest critic!

What a big variety of riders and horses. If you hadn't said it was a mustang show I really wouldn't have known they were mustangs at all. Trigger did well and like you said that is what matters.

I was hoping we'd get to check out the competition - riders and mustangs - much appreciated thanks MaLinda😃. Trigger in all his lovely, flowing hairyness and muscular build stands out as what I imagine one would expect to see in a wild herd. Has his owner had a DNA test done to learn of his ancestry? I think that would be really interesting. Being able to warm up in the arena with other competitors must be a 'huge' bonus to a young horses training! Oh, to be young, fit and healthy again. My western riding years were way too short & learnt out so I sure hope there are horses in heaven!

No I wouldn't have guessed he was once wild ,(if you hadn't said). He looks happy and relaxed, and he has nice paces!Like you, I think its very important to stop and do nothing at the end of a session , and allow the horse to chill. 💤

How old was trigger when he was captured and where was he wild? Also, I may have missed it but how did you place? Very nice run and the calm warm up was why you're a pro and we're not.

Loved the second extended trot! For his 3rd/4th show he did great. Thank you for showing us the warm up, too. It's super interesting to see how you prepare him. Oh, and does anyone know if the guy cantering past at 8:59 won? Blue shirt, white hat. I realized that I kept watching him whenever he passed in the background while you were resting.

I think its bay or bay-roan. It looks perfectly sound and contented as it moves around on a nice loose rein. Probably been encouraged/trained that way; not my preference for way of going or stance, but everyone differs.
