It actually wasn't kept a secret. A dude from another band that was recording in the same studio blurted out LP had a female singer earlier this year then he withdrew the comment. People were trying to guess who. Amy Lee of Evanescence was a popular choice.
It's even crazier that things like the League Worlds anthem have been in the making for MONTHS and hundreds if not thousands of people were aware of the new LP, and somehow it never leaked from any of them
@@sleek462 Right? You'd have to be absolute scum to speak out against the concept of public court cases and being a court observer. Supporting the transparency of our court system is an extremely honorable thing to do and only scum would attack a person for doing it.
It's absolutely crucial for Emily that every band deeply trusts and wholeheartedly supports each other. This mutual trust and support are the key ingredients for a band's success.
@@chrismclean1980Mike was making money producing, streaming and his solo stuff. If it were a cash grab they'd have went with a Chester clone, not a female singer.
I'm so thankful that all of this happened organically and not planned. Everything about From Zero has felt genuine and sincere; Which in my nearly 25 years of listening to LP, that's what matters most to me. Thank you. 😌
Agreed. It feels like From Zero was tended to with such love, care, and sincerity. Definitely will be a top 3 for some LP fans. It has the prospects of superseding at minimum, One More Light and Living Things in my humble opinion.
Agreed. I felt that if they found a new singer that would be ok, but I wanted it to be someone that they found that was a natural fit that just felt right. I wanted them to feel they could go on regardless, and not feel obligated to find someone just to have someone in that position. I really think they did that, and I couldn't be happier for all of them.
@@tonyl5344I personally think Living Things and One more Light are really solid albums, I think you should look to albums like A Thousand Suns and The Hunting Party instead, since those feel like LP was still sort of figuring out their style Just my opinion though
@@Dragon_MC13A Thousand Suns is my favourite album of all time (so far). Damn, why do I love a concept album about nuclear war so much, kinda concerning
cuz shes singing linkin park songs. U have to put ur emotion into singing those lyrics man, its the only way. So ig i don’t see what ur tryna say. Alot of people when they hit a stage and if they’re a musician, that’s their place to let go
@@mxt217 i was referring more to heavy is the crown and emptiness machine, which were vocals made by/for her so are more authentic to her preferred style of singing. I mean its great she can sing the older stuff, but Id rather focus on their new stuff :)
How, in 2024, you all managed to keep this quiet is insane. Love hearing from Emily, any conversations with her and/or Colin (and StepBrad) will be great to hear!
I am loving everything Linkin park right now, loved them before during my 20s and now i am in my 40s I am loving them more, linkin park doing linkin park things
I agree 100%! I, too started listening from the beginning when I was mid 20’s and now I’m in my late 40’s. They are hands down my favorite band! Love everything they are, who they are, what they stand for, their message and of course, their sound in which ever direction they choose to go. I’m more than happy to support still after all of these years!
@@theradiantdehd3997 what do you mean? thanks to her im going to spread the good word of scientology and show support to fellow scientologist members that are getting charged for r4p3!
@@theradiantdehd3997 she addressed the Masterson situation. Whether you take what she says is on you. And, the Scientology part is speculation until she says anything if she ever does. Do you ever watch Tom Cruise movies? Or John Travolta? Do you boycott their movies. I don’t like the religion either, but I can separate the entertainment from the person. Besides, it’s been said she was born into it. That’s not her fault.
Emily's got me totally mesmerized. I mean, on the one hand we have her crazy energetic singing and then we have her soft speaking at interviews/podcasts. On the one hand we have a bad ass rocker on top of a drum set and then we have the sweet emotional girl dancing here and there and being emotional. Man, she's got it all!!! ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥👑
Chester left such a legacy in Linkin Park, there will always be part of Chester no matter where this band goes. New music going to be some emotional roller coaster ❤️
Listened to this last night. I love the chemistry between these two and the band as a whole for that matter. This whole new era is just making me so happy, and in my opinion is the best thing to happen in music for a very long time. This will bring in a whole new generation of fans, as well as giving the original fans a fantastic new perspective and the chance to see the band live again.
Emily has a crazy strong voice. And she wears her heart on her sleeve. This is kinda a conversation made public, but also very much emily being a fangirl of a band she loved. She is living the dream. Being able to join a band that hit you so hard
59:42 Mike is crying 😭 at least brought to tears. Woooow talk about being vulnerable! This was amazing to hear him so happy and so grateful to have LP back PS that's how we feel too big bro. Thank you for bringing it back to us as well
I am 64 yes old I am due to have knee replacement my op will be done with epidural so that now allows me to take my headphones in and I can listen to you beautiful great guys love from UK .
So rare these days to just see good people who actually support, trust, and respect each other. It warms my heart to see this. I am beyond blessed to get to see the revival of Linkin Park. We all know how hard it is to move on after someone so special and impactful passes on. The fact that they haven’t allowed that to keep them from trying is extremely remarkable and amazing. Props to you guys!! Excited for what’s to come!!!
Both Linkin Park with Chester, and Linkin Park with Emily, can exist in the same space. I love listening to the OG music, but I am also in love with the whole new essence Emily brings, so much so not a day has gone by where ive not had the "comeback" gig playing on repeat. People judging Emilys life are doing so without knowing her stance on things, but nor do we have the right to. Chester will live on forever through every note he sung, and through the legacy he left, but this is a new and evolving era, and its reignited my love of both this band and this genre of music as a whole. Also Emily is a complete badass. To have a new female singer in such a huge band is so refreshing.
@@ScotsmanGamer she doing a great job, what are you talking about? Remember: the band chose her and after several years knowing her and working with her they know what they do. The fans response speaks for itself.
@@sushreepadhiI’m not sure what you must’ve said for people to be that harsh but from all I see it’s less about the music that people criticize, but her past, and disrespecting the band themselves, not the music. So if you did any of that, you deserved what you got said back to you and you have no right to play the victim. And if a few comments online hit you that hard you never truly recovered and you should seek help.
Emily and Chester seem to be kindred spirits, 9:06 these parts remind me of the dynamic Chester and Mike had. Mike has a mastermind talent, and Chester and Emily are such wildfire talents that they just need to be unleashed!
What a lovely conversation to listen to. As someone not that familiar with with the Chester period of Linkin Park, I knew of coarse who the band were and in fact saw them live in Dublin many years ago. But it wasn't until one day when I clicked on The Emptiness Machine that I became totally hooked. I could not stop playing that song and immediately pre-ordered "From Zero. Emily I had not known up until this point and her vocal performance just blew me away. She also has great stage presence and command of the stage. This line up of Linkin Park I believe was always destined to happen, and I wish them all the very best with everything they do in the future. Lovely people, Brilliant band and amazing music. Thank you.
The Emptiness Machine man, when she starts that chorus it gets every time I listen to it, that's like over 1000 times now, lol 😂. Heavy is the Crown gives me goosebumps and an adrenaline.
The hardest part for me was the passage: Your favorite thing to do in the world was taken away from you. And then after a while, they said that you can have it back.💔😭😭😭😭❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
Such a wonderfully intimate, emotionally intelligent, vulnerable & compelling conversation - it made me quitel🥺 It is so uplifting to hear Mike and Emily bursting with happiness & excitement, but also really touching how authentically, honestly, and courageously they express their passion for the creative process, the slow steps taken on the journey to reforming and the care and respect the band have for each other. Loved in particular how emotional Mike got about having the thing he loved most in the world taken away (and then given back), and how sensitive Emily's reflections were of her journey into being a member of the band (yeah girl, you earned it for sure, and then some)! Also the whole 'safety net' chat was beautiful (you know we got you all too right?) Can't wait for Emily to go off on one & express herself fully on stage! Thank you for sharing your hopes and fears, joy and love for music and each other. "Let's f^ckin' goooooooo!"
Anyone else filled with joy over Emily's sincere laughter at the end of this discussion? It really melted my heart. She seems really sincere, honest, and genuine.
He can pretty much play all instruments, heads the production, is the face of the band, amazing Emcee on the stage, can rap, can sketch, can give good interviews, handles controversies like a king. What more talents he holds?
Anyone else feel like there couldn't have been a more perfect fit for version 2.0 of LP? Emily's voice is the perfect "next step" where it's not an exact replica of Chester's, but shares the same qualities that made his so great. Also, the image in the video also helps my case, but I feel like they have a very similar look to each other. Something with the eyes/mouth. As an OG fan from before they were big, I'm so excited for this next evolution of the band. Well done LP; wishing you nothing but more success in your future!
I agree but what you’re talking about it’s actually a phenomenon. Think of the matrix movies, will smith almost got the role, but then Keanu got it and now we can’t imagine anyone else as neo or fisher as Morpheus
58:21 can you hear Mike? That nearly cracking Voice, nearly in Tears? That explains all. These 4 Guys decided to go on with Colin and Emily. He says, there is no charity about that. He is 100% confidend. Thats all you need to know. And if i can understand this as a non native english speaker, you all will too.
He's a good actor isn't he? He's happy he got who he always wanted in linkin park. The one who ditched her own band to join him because loyalty isn't a thing nowadays.
@@chrismclean1980 Pero "Dead Sara" lanzó un álbum en el 2023... me imagino que está en paralelo con "Linkin Park"... tranqui bro, Ches también tenia a "Dead by sunrise" y nadie lloraba..
Thank you for being open and so vulnerable! Emily you’re an amazing human being 🌸

It's so nice to see Mike's passion for the project. He waited so long to return that now he deserves to enjoy this moment. Chester was so talented and will always be part of the band's essence, but we need to understand that Chester decided to end his life. It's sad, but even people around him couldn't help with his struggles, so we need to pray for his soul. And while we are here, living, let's celebrate this comeback and enjoy the new Linkin Park! All the success!
Yeah, let's all diminish the legacy of the man who gave this band everything by gaslighting the fans and saying you're trying to "honor" his legacy instead of respecting the fact that the face of the band and the one who put them on the map is gone.
for me it is amazing that you managed to keep your return in 2024 a secret, it is something extraordinary. I am happy about your return because deep down I have accepted that I will never be at an LP concert again and here you are, I hope that next year you will visit Europe, I have been with you from day one and I will continue to be LP 4life 🤘
They're so perfect together. Thank God for this formation. I needed this badly and for all the people thinking this ain't bringing honor to Chester, you big trippin. Keep doing y'all thing. Much love from this side. ❤❤
It's a fact that 1. The band will be successful despite any haters. 2. Anything new the band does will get hated by plenty of people anyways. Keep doing you guys! Love it!!!
"if it's gossip, it's ok... It's inevitable" Honestly i think that was the trick to really keep it secret. So much of the rumors were dismissed as hoaxes. I'm loving these retrospective BTS videos and conversations coming out, telling us how things got here. Like Joe and Dave said, there's so much to find out about, can't wait to hear all the stories.
As soon as I saw Colin was a producer as well as Mike I knew they were gonna make some cool music together. Emily as a vocalist is obviously a great addition, but Colin and Mike as a production duo is craaazy
I’m gonna admit it. I like Emily. I don’t care what people say. We just need to understand that 7 years has passed, Linkin Park is Mike’s band and we can always keep Chester in our memories. Let’s enjoy this new era
No thanks. This podcast made me respect him even less given the contradicting information they discuss. They think waving a picture at thier first concert is honoring chester I think not. Amazes me how easily you all forget about him.
@@chrismclean1980 Mike wrote a record full of songs about Chester, did countless interviews, livestreams, Post-Traumatic tour trying to heal fans, press for anniversary of HT and Meteora full of Chester commentary - it’s been 7 years of looking back. Maybe it’s ok they look forward? They shouldn’t be damned to keep talking about their friend and his suicide indefinitely
@@juliahtd69 what’s your point? Mike worked with many, many singers since Chester died. They still waited seven years to continue, they didn’t feel good about it before now - very respectful.
The fact that this has been a long process, and not something forced, makes me like it even better. Mike, the band, all of them seems so happy and excited about this, and that makes me happy and excited! Thank you for doing this!
Thank you for being so open) this podcast is way much better than any possible interview. Mike and Emily are so caring of the band and each other - great team!! The podcast is so calming, comforting and Im so filled with hope after listening to it. My god it is so good to hear Mike so enthusiastic and driven about LP’s future again! I honestly didn’t see this happening but it’s made me and so many fans SO happy! I miss Chester like a family member but keeping the band alive feels like a perfect tribute! Love you Mike, Rob (I know your done), Brad, Joe, Dave, Emily and Colin! Rock on!!!!
@@tetsuwanatomuu so LP should continue as instrumental band? and Mike and Brad lyrical talent just thrown away? I cant describe how crazy it is to reject others talent, just because you love someone. That is over idolizing.

Love this convo, lovin' the new songs and the live shows. Emily is doing such a great job with this band that I have loved since the beginning and I am so happy for the OG's that they are out doing what they love again. Plus major bonus, I have discovered how great dead sara is as well :)
59:00 well guys…that’s exactly how every day one fan was feeling on September 5th 2024. I had my eyes opened to what music could be in 2002 as a kid.
