Front brake pads and rotor replacement on a 2010 Ford Fusion

On my personal 2010 Ford Fusion I was having some pulsating issues during heavy braking. Since I was going to take it apart to check I decided to replace the pads and rotors. The last time the brakes were serviced the pads were replaced but not the rotors. This is not a particularly difficult job. A few basic tools are required. While it is nice to have a torque wrench you could do it without one. I used an inexpensive torque wrench which you can likely find online. The most important part is to thoroughly clean the parts and apply the correct lubricant. Take your time and you will see how easy and satisfying this project is. Don’t take any shortcuts lifting and supporting the vehicle. Things can go wrong in a hurry if you don’t pay attention. I hope you enjoy the video.

@@RowdiiRyanSounds good. Do your homework. Look at a couple of reliable videos. When you get a few that pretty well say the same thing you know the information is good. Thanks for visiting and posting. Roger

Awesome video thank you, I just got mine finished and I’m hearing some rattling and such underneath where the job is done. Going to take it back apart and try again!

Hi mike FromOH. Sounds like you didn’t get one of the anti rattle clips in place. There a little tricky. I recall having to play around with them when I installed them.

Hi Angel Barrera. Thanks for looking at my video. If the rotors are rusted on spray wd-40 where the hub makes contact with the rotor. Let it sit 10-15 minutes. Lightly tap the outer edge of the rotor all around the circumference. If there’s no movement add more wd-40. You may have to do this several times. It should work. Thanks. Roger

@@AmitSharma-fp5xd I don’t have the vehicle anymore but I’m pretty sure they were 19mm. You could use 3/4” but it’s not a good as the 19mm. Also some of the Ford bolts have a decorative chrome cover on them so it gets a little trickier if they have been beaten up with impact guns. If the chrome covers are in good condition not a problem to remove. If possible you should torque the bolts when installing. The torque specifications are in the owners manual. If you don’t have the manual the Ford website has a pdf manual on line for your particular vehicle. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching and posting. Roger
