Do you like the 1st part of the video? Part 2 coming soon where you will see how to retrofit a BMW K1200 front wheel to the K100. If you have any questions, fire away

@@samlawlor9873 Hi Sam, thanks for the comment and I am glad you enjoyed the video. The forks were off a GSXR 1000 K6, 2006. The axle sleeve was designed by a friend in Sweden as he was building the same bike, same forks and front wheel. Once the design was complete he shared it with me and I had it manufactured here locally. Send me a DM on Instagram and I'm happy to share the information with you to help with your build.

Looks like a great build so far. I'm in the process of doing the same. But instead of shaving any of the tabs from the bottom triple, I used the post on the left side for a steering damper and had my mech weld a bit longer tab on the frame where the steering stop is to mount it all. I also used the middle to mount my brake line retainer. But I do like the idea of smoothing all of the seams. Will give it a custom look. Will be following.

Hey Ray, That's a great idea also. Didn't think of that. I'll definitely be puttin more thought into it before shaving anything lol. Thanks for the comment :)

Great videos, can you confirm which way the stem is removed? Do you have to push the stem down through the bottom of the clamp or is it pushed up and out? Thanks

Hi Jay, love the video and definitely a subscriber. Looking forward to the video of the finished seat! Just a question on your front end, I'm going to go with the same concept but would you mind if I asked a couple of questions? Firstly, why did you decided not to go for the full triple tree and just the stem? Secondly, as a result of the lower offset do you have any steering issues (hitting the tank?) Lastly, do you plan to get a new top yoke to remove the suzuki branding?
@LifestyleLanes
@LifestyleLanes 4 года назад
Hey buddy. Thanks for the comment. I am planning on making a version 2 of the seat, I'll keep both and replace them when I feel like it. I decided to only go with the stem just to save a few dollars to purchase other parts. I need to weld some steering stops to prevent the forks hitting the tank. That would be one of the last things I address. I'd love to get a cafe racer style top yoke, but all depends on cost. If I can find someone to machine one out at a decent price, I would definitely consider. My goal is to complete the bike and have it running, I can always change parts once the build is complete.

Since I had already purchased the grips to suit the BMW stock handle bar, I ordered 22mm grips

im a bit new to building motorcycles and i cant seem to find an answer as to why people change the forks on these bikes when they do a build like you are...any particular reason?
@LifestyleLanes
@LifestyleLanes 4 года назад
Great question Jonathan. I'm sure others will have their reasons as to why they do a fork swap mainly for handling etc. My reason was mainly aesthetics. Hope this helps mate.

Thanks for the great video! I'm actually doing the same thing on a K75 (I did fir the Cognito Moto stem with no spacers and the fit was beautiful...) and got a huge scare today when I fitted the rotors... Just some few questions: Why can't you use the original GSX-R 600 axle with spacers? Could you please share all the specs and links on the caliper spacers, bearings and dust seals you used? Having the rotor spacers only on one end of the wheel only doesn't cause it to be off center? I'm planning on keeping the ABS operational on my K75, so I'll be keeping the ABS disc... I guess that brings a couple mils off the spacers. While eyeballing mine this morning, it did seem like the rotor bolts where scary close to the forks... Actually, if I was to make the rotor centered in between the brake pads, they would hit on one of the protrusions on the inner side of the fork leg... Again thanks for making me breathe again hahaha... I thought I had wasted a ton of cash on rim and rotors.

Hey is that stem really needed? whats wrong with the gsxr stock one?
@LifestyleLanes
@LifestyleLanes 4 года назад
Hey Rober, Yes the conversion stem is needed because the GSXR stem was too short. If it were longer, it can be machined to be the right length. Stay safe
