Front Yard Shrub Removal 

I think we need to acknowledge what an excellent job Brad did keeping that other chain saw hidden! I was hoping to get just a glimpse of the color, but Brad was too good! I really enjoyed the content of this video and the mystery!

Wow, everything looked fairly nice and manicured. Were they just looking for an entirely new look? Something with color, perhaps?

The best deshrubbing job I have ever seen. Hauling the bushes to the curb was also impressive.

Don't blame them for getting rid of those evil junipers. Those things stink. I wish the city where I live would pick up stuff like that! Great job.

All I could think of, as you cut down the holly, was how much it looked like broccoli! LOL Seems a shame they wanted all that stuff cut out. Was there a reason given? Doing new plantings? Were they attracting too many bugs/spiders?

A lot of that looked like generic box store shrubbery they use for new developments. Not always the best for natural climate conditions. Plus, it looked like it had been in for several years and could cause foundational issues or pipe issues if those roots go unchecked. It’ll be nice to see what plants were left and how they return in the spring time.

Wow, your first line in this video is me exactly. 😂 that is why my truck is overloaded with random tool at all time so that nobody can fit in the back seats. I’m constantly telling kids to “just push that stuff out of the way” Ha!

It’s great that the city picks up the debris, but I can’t believe they allow you to obstruct the road. Why not pile it on the edge of the property?

Nice work, I own an Echo battery chain saw. It's just right. No mixing, no noise and no fumes. I live in an older neighborhood and in the summer all we hear are gas chain saws..Nice work, lot's of good ideas here and in the end, all them imposing bushes are gone..

They should have kept that palm. It would look nice once they replanted others

At times I wish our city picked up yard waste like the city you live in does. We have to put ours in a tote so they can dump it in a collection truck. Just like they pick up garbage in. Or I have to put it into my dump trailer and take it to the compost center. At least you are using the BEST EQUIPMENT out there!

Hey! an alternative to that hand tool that helps cut through root systems is a sawzall with a fresh wood blade, my god, I'm so glad we use ours now instead of banging through everything with a shovel lol! Appreciate you!

I prefer a reciprocating saw near the dirt. The blades are less expensive than a chain but since they are slower, you pay with your time.

Great job! We are in the process of removing shrubs now. We also have one big juniper tree we want gone. The lady who we bought this house from was a hedge lover. Ugh

Always surprised when I see this method used by professional landscapers. It’s frowned upon in northern Ohio where I work. Makes any kind of future planting or renovation cost more and take longer. Using the top growth for leverage when digging or pulling the,stumps out saves so much time. And leaves the area ready for any option grassing over, new shrubs etc. we always explain this future cost to the customer including dealing with shoots from the cut off stumps etc and once they understand they almost always go with full removal. We won’t do a cut off job like that in most cases

I grew up in Panama City, Fl and for long as i remember the City always picked up stuff.

Just cutting them to the ground won’t prevent them from growing back will it? Seems like no money saved in the long run.

I hope the homeowner has some nice landscaping planned this year. Those mature shrubs was a safe but boring way to have curb appeal for the house. It did cover up a bit of the windows so it made sense to definitely remove them from at least where they were blocking. Good song at the end - Electric Speed by Maximix. Got it figured out with Shazam and added it to my Spotify driving playlist.

I was part of a crew that did this. We called it demo for short. Lot of fun. Good workout. Your clothes are too clean. Just started watching. Will see how they look at the end.

The destruction of that palm was heartbreaking. More money could have been made by transplanting that living organism. They take forever to grow. Tragic.

Love the idea of using the tarp to drag vegetation. definitely gonna do that going forward. do you ever get pushback about the stumps remaining? i had a customer get real upset and i told him that stump grinding is not cheap and requires specific equipment after which he saw some sense.

I understand it's cheaper to just cut flush but it's going to be nearly impossible now to plant a anything new especially now that all the stumps are not visible. Whatever the customer wants I guess

Question, I’m looking to removing about 9 shrubs, three are the knockout rose variety, not sure of the other 6 but seemingly just your typical green shrubs. But I was wondering what would I need to do to the soil once I remove them. I want to plant new boxwoods in the rear and possibly some petunias in the front. Also, is there a timeframe that you have to wait before planting after removing

Is there some point to not digging all that out? To replant it has to be dug out. We had similar shrubs..they were kinked out with a bobcat

I usually just pull the smaller ones with my truck, roots and all.

They make such a thing as a trailer. It helps facilitate cleanup.

A couple of things, 1st having this done last summer I'm more amazed that it's ok just to leave it on the street. 2nd. All those stumps left in the ground aren't they all gonna grow back?

So you guys in the US have this thing where you can leave stuff at the roadside and it will be collected and disposed of by the city council. I wish we had that in the UK, I can think of several of my wifes relatives I could leave at the roadside....

Removing shrubs is probably one of my favorite jobs, and it always seems to be when the shrubs look too nice to remove 😩

I don’t know if this ever was suggestion but would you consider getting a smallerish dumptruck for your debris removal?I see all the tarps and dragging it to the street as extra time with debris removal that could easily be handled with just throwing it into a dump bed. I have a ford 450 turbodiesel with a dumptruck rear end and I abuse that thing with debris removal like this job. We’re also lucky to have “greenlands” in town that takes yard debris for free like this from any local landscape company and throws it into a huge mulcher and they sell it back as compost for a cheap price. Or does a local city company just take the debris if you drag it to the street in Florida?

Competition is so rough in Arizona that I would of charged $350 for that job. Then I would get out bid to some Pisa’s who will do it for $220.

That's a lot of work, but I agree tarps are work horses. I've used my reciprocating saw with a 9" blade to cut the below ground roots. My arms aren't as strong as they used to be.

Glad you got the work, but I would have just advertised free shrubs, you dig, and it will be gone, not just cut down. Its how I get rid of most of the shrubs, even a healthy pear tree. People die for mature hedges... so much waste. And others have mentioned that beauty of a sago palm. I would come dig that out if I wasn't in a frozen climate at the moment.

What keeps it from growing back

Love the battery operated tools, I would suggest you tell them to pull the roots out more money for you. You will have to always trim that with the weedeater when you visit the property they will grow back

A Sawzall with a brush blade will increase your efficiency and will allow you to cut the roots down in the dirt without having to use the hand saw.

Nice but only 480$?!!! Why are you double handling the brush? Your trailer should have been placed before you started. A few drops of Tordon on the stumps will prevent any grow back. Looks great after all the removal. More videos please😃 🌳🌳🌳

Do I misunderstand what you said did you say somebody sent you a chainsaw to try out and they don’t want you to film it to me that means it sounds like they’re not real sure the chainsaws.
