Update: Frontierland in Cherokee, North Carolina
Video was previously believed to be Goldrush Junction: Before Dollywood became the park we know today, it went by a few other names, one of which was Goldrush Junction. This video shows the park as it was set in 1973.

I remember going there at this time as a child. Loved riding the train and water log ride. Those were the good old days. I sure miss them dearly. Thanks for posting and refreshing great memories.

I'm looking for a campground that was located near Cherokee in the 70's. It was on the side of a mountain with a river as one boundary that was downstream from a dam. Their was also a paper mill you could smell within smelling but not site distance. I've looked and looked but haven't found and my mlm parents are ling gone. I want to take my son there anyone know the campground il talking about Thanks

It’s so sad to see Cherokee now. Sure it was like this now. We still go every summer but there is nothing to do for the kids. The casino ruined this town.

Not to be combative, because that's is not my intention, but the Casino freed us from having to pander to tourists by wearing headdresses and displaying teepees, things we never had as Cherokee.

But Cherokee never had casinos back in the day either. I thought the attraction was also based on the western frontier also or a mix. Just fun family attraction not necessarily intended to be all historically accurate. But it's understandable that others have different ways of looking at it.@AnthonyMichaelSneed
