Great video! How high are the sidewalls on that building? How thick is the foam board that you use for frost protection? This build located in the Midwest?
Do you have any opinion on using the zip system sheathing on the outside? I've noticed it doesn't you use them and I'm not planning on using them myself but wondering what you think about it.
It’s a great option if budget allows- it’s a significant expense for a project. If someone doesn’t use spray foam we’d encourage that or some type of exterior sheathing. If you use anything besides an exposed fastener steel panel you’ll need sheathing.
I would say a continuous footing and frost wall is better in some ways but it’s also 4X the cost. I’ve done post frame on footing and frost wall, icf wall, but mostly on piers and I can say it works out very well if done properly. It saves a ton of money, is plenty strong, DIY friendly, and still yields a very efficient home or building. My personal home is on piers and no complaints.
