Frozen Challenger 

the challenger broke through the ice while grooming a new road 8 miles from the closest dozer, which took over 3 hours to travel to the frozen challenger

the first attempt to recover the challenger ended in a broken cable and the challenger still in place. the second attempt 8 hours later is what is on the film. we couldn't start the machine because of the frozen starter and water in the transmission and rear end

He should have shortened the tow rope even more, so that the D7 could use it's ripper gear to lift the front of the Challenger as much as possible, to transfer weight to the D7, to get a grip on the ice.

What the hell were ya'll doin at the north pole anyways I guess Santa can't keep up production anymore and ya'll were going to start construction on the new Workshop?

How thick was the ice and how deep was the water underneath? It looks like bolth units are smashing through and sinking

I'm guessing the challenger wouldnt start b/c the fuel gelled, and thats why nobody was driving it

I own a Fowler dozer but no blade, did you ever get info you were looking for? Mine came from South Africa and I live in Michigan. Was looking at this video as I also own a Cat Challenger 65. Best way to start Fowler is with a belt pulley on another tractor. Keep fuel off til you build up heat in the cylinder, then crack the fuel. Best at 75 degree air temp and up.

usually there is challenger engines and that seems to be the case here

Use a hose or flexible pipe to blow hot exhaust gas over the Challenger Motor. Particularly the fuel pump, injector lines and injectors. Jump start Challenger off the D7 if batteries are flat. While Challenger motor warms up use D7 dozer blade (and rippers), if needed to clear ice away from unit. If the warmth from the Challenger motor hasn't already broken the suction between the ice and Challenger belly plates use the hose or flexible pipe to blow exhaust gas from either tractor under unit.

put somebody in the cab of the challenger to help drive it out? sounds like an idea to me

@marchondaracing haha i have well not at -30 but i have alot of heavy equpment and god damn diesell never starts in winter haha not even our dump truck but thats why we have a block heater
