Frozen in time! Abandoned farmhouse full of stuff. Canada Explore #43
This abandoned farmhouse sits very hidden from the road and the property is very overgrown. To my knowledge this house has been abandoned since 2012 or longer. The house started to leak as there are a few holes in the roof. Once the water started to come in this house quickly started to decay. The house did look ransacked but didn't appear to be vandalized that much. Seams to me a elderly couple lived here at some point and maybe they passed away or left for other reasons but it looks like they left everything behind here. The part of the house to the left was full of firewood and I did not film this part.
This location was shared to me by another urban explorer named Kyla, Thank you Kyla! Please give her a follow on her Instagram at ...

About me:
I have been exploring abandoned places since I was a child and now I would like to film the explores and share the videos with you.
My father took me to my first abandoned house when I was 7 years old. I remember going into the house and a old farmer came in and told us "we better watch out as the floors are all rotten and unsafe". Ever since that day I was hooked on exploring abandoned places.
If you have a location you would like to share with me or want me to explore for you please send me an email at abandonedurbexcanada@hotmail.com and I will give you full credit for the share in the description and during the video if you choose.

Don't give in to the peer pressure Brent! If you don't want to go into the basement, don't go into the basement! Also, you really should bring your cell phone! You never know if you're going to need it!

Seriously, Brent, checking out these basements like this could mean the end of you. I explored abandoned homes for years, and after one bad experience, didn't attempt another basement explore again - ever. The door to the basement slammed behind me, I couldn't get it open at first, but I finally managed to get it opened, but a terrifying experience. Never again. Your Explores are the best - thank you.

This one brought tears to my eyes. All the beautiful antique furniture reminded me of my paternal grandparents home. Makes me wonder why the surviving family members would not cherish nor value the legacy and inheritance the owners worked hard for. Heartbreaking.
@penelopelopez8296
@penelopelopez8296 2 года назад
Because the furniture is more to trouble than it’s worth. It has to be moved with manpower and you need a vehicle big enough to take it away. That costs money. Then you need a place to store it….that costs more money. Sometimes you love the furniture and underneath it’s rotted or cracked or the drawers are glued shut because they haven’t been used in decades. It may look good on video but when you inspect ot closely ….it’s not worth it.

I paused when you started up the stairs. This is sad. People spend their life building a place for family. They grow old, and die. Then the family blows it all off, and leaves it to rot. No respect, no thankfulness, no appreciation for what was done for them

Maybe the relatives left it to fall apart because abuse and neglect happened in the home. Maybe it was just too full of bad memories for the kids. The relatives could have hired someone to take care of things.

i suspect when we see these places, the owners grew old and the home and upkeep suffered because they physically were unable to maintain it. As for family, if any, they are busy building the lives and homes they want. It's not disrespect, it's just life. It's the mansions I don't understand. So much left behind that could be sold or donated.

The owners of this house were probably elderly and they passed. The heirs have not been contacted to come claim the property, or they just weren’t interested. Such a shame that it wasn’t quickly claimed and sold on. So many things in the house would have been still useful. It’s so terrible to see it all just rotting away. A terrible waste.

Good explore, with the walk up to the house one can almost hear the crunch of leaves underfoot. Once the nice home of a nice couple complete with two sewing machines, a Standard and an Elna. The Hymnal on the fireplace mantel and the Christmas carol sheet music on the piano shows they had comfort in their faith. The style of the furniture in that upper bedroom at 17:34 is called "Barley-twist". The best item is probably those nice chairs, but my favorite items were the toboggans and the cow-bells at 23:45. The furniture could be saved but the house is a tear down at this point. So may you always avoid the bum gravy in your travels, and Dear Brent, if the stairs are looking that shaky, Don't Go In The Basement, we want ya alive. Cheers.

Love the videos, Brent. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us. It's a real treat to be able to come along with you on your explorations after a long, stressful work week. I know it's hard for people to see homes filled with cherished items decay; I see a lot of comments on urbex channels blaming the kids for not wanting the house or letting it fall into ill repair. People make a lot of assumptions based on what they think is normal, and really, there isn't such a thing. A gentle reminder that not everyone has kids. Not all kids survive their parents. Sometimes people leave things to a relative who is unable to take over the responsibility due to their own decline. Some families are toxic; abusive adults grow older, but not kinder; often they become even more cruel and threatening. Abused kids grow up, but they don't magically heal and become whole. Sometimes they walk away so they can save themselves and stop the cycle. While I don't know the couple that appeared to own this home, as the child of an antiquing family, I recognize the value of many of the items left behind here. As the child of a toxic family, I can also tell you that while it is sad to see the material waste, I also understand that there is nothing more valuable than your peace and healing. Sometimes people choose their own well being over things. And I've seen others from loving, healthy families paralyzed with grief for years, unable to close that chapter of their lives and move forward. This, of course, doesn't touch on any of the potential legal issues that may arise if someone has to enter a nursing home or an extended care facility, if the home owners didn't have a will or a heir, family engaged in an drawn-out fight over the estate or items in it, or the heir is unable to manage the estate or can't afford to hire someone else to do it. These homes, like our own lives, are both beautiful and tragic, full of joy and of sadness, and perhaps that's why they resonate with us so.

My husband’s great-great aunts and uncles lived in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere. The kids moved off to look for jobs. My in laws would go and visit and check on his elderly family in local nursing homes just about every weekend even tho it was at least 6 hour drive one way. His brother would come once or twice a year. After the elderly family passed my father in law went into their homes to take care of items, disperse everything. To his surprised he found all of the valuables gone. ALL OF THEM. He got rid of everything and sold off stuff to send the money to the kids and grandkids. Come to find out the brother that came once in a while and did nothing was stealing the family blind. He and his greedy family. It was found out over the years when my FIL would visit his brother and see things on tables or walls being displayed.

Its a real shame about the roof letting in so much water. You can see that was a beautiful & much loved place with many nice things. It's kind of spooky to think those people were there & then suddenly gone. Someone cleaned out the fridge but they didn't get time to pack up their things. There must have been a younger part of the family with an infant that visited but no-one even came & picked up that photograph off the mantlepiece, let alone clear up the other belongings. Of course I wonder what happened.

Can see various parts were remuddled and pretty eclectic mix of newer junk furniture and a few pieces of nicer old furniture. The old hand pump was neat, surprised still there, and the wood furnace says lots of work to heat that place. I think you're right surmising older couple and probably died or went to a nursing home. I have a few things I'd want to keep of my parents, but not all their furniture except a couple pieces and pictures of course. Sadly, these homesteads/farmhouses are too far away from cities for the newer gen to want to live there and property taxes can stack up if the children wanted to keep the property. Maybe with this post-Covid world people will start living in remote places again and homestead more.

I would love to buy that sewing machine. I wish you would have closed the piano. You need to pour some water in that pump to prime it. Thank you for going in the basement. That baby crib and high chair are worth big bucks. Shame it will just rot. Someone needs to go in there and salvage stuff. Someone save that hope chest.

A houses with thick exterior wall are fairly easy to heat. Most are cool in the summer and warm in the winter, at least former neighbors’s was. It is a shame that the lovely furniture is getting ruined. The loved the blue.

The outside pictures, is that this particular house, it kind of has a church vibe with the small steeple on the roof and the overall shape. I agree it's bad but nowhere near as bad as some of the newer hoses with some water damage. You would definitely be safer in a house like this with this type of damage than a new house with similar damage.

Abandoned Urbex Canada I’m in Victoria BC and we just don’t have the abandonment of properties here as land is just way too explain ~ but every time I’ve traveled back to Ontario I’ve wanted to explore so many spots I’ve seen on our way to our family cottage on Lake Simcoe. What magic you get to explore

This was such a cozy home, comfortable for family to visit and stay awhile. I don't understand how, after the death of a beloved grandmother, the family could just leave everything to rot. The two wooden beds upstairs were beautiful. I especially enjoyed seeing the old green Elna sewing machine. My grandmother had a later model, but that one looked so very Art Deco in its lines--really cool.

That basement is one of the most sensible things I've ever seen. Why NOT put a giant pile of combustible wood under your house? What a brilliant idea! What could possibly go wrong?! ;)

That IS an animal on the bed! Stoles were made out of various animals in the fifties, complete with the head and eyes. They were quite popular. Kinda gross by modern standards. Great video 🙏🙂

What is so hard to understand is the fact none has asked if they could remove the items? It is silly to just let all the beautiful think just lay they. One day the building will fall an decay and people will dug through the stuff and they will take it. That is what seems to happen in the states.

This makes me so sad. It sure seems to me that an older couple once lived there and likely one passed away then eventually the other.. children had moved away and just didn’t care enough to want any of their parents things. I can relate. I know my own kids will never want anything I have other than my jewelry

I always cringe and get nervous for you when you go into basements, especially ones like this. You are a brave soul for going down there! I can't do basements...they freak me out too much lol...too dark and scary and you never know what could be lurking down there in these abandoned homes lol....unless it's daylight and it's not boarded up then I'm all for it! Haha 😄 thanks for another video!

Elderly couple or widow(er) probably lived there with family members, the elderly person owned the house and died, the other family members couldn't stay, probably back taxes packed up what they could and left.

So sad. The licked chest was a clear chest, likely made by Lane in the early 1900s, I have a similar one my mom left me.💝 They open by pushing in the "lock" button, so if you depress the lock it may have been unlocked and opened. Even with the key, you turn it and depress it. Interesting and sad house. Be safe and stay well! ❤️

Very interesting. Always makes you wonder why it was abandoned. IAM gonna guess it belonged to an elderly couple that passed away, but it looks like they had children and grandchildren, but now the question arises why did the surviving family members not bother. All speculation of course, but all part of the enjoyment of the explore.

Hello to you I love the guest room especially the bed.I agree that was a nice trunk with the fitted wood lid it may have been a dowry trunk.I think the room with the bed,crib and high chair had been saved from their children and set up in there for the grandchildren or greatgrand children for when they visited.They had a very heartwarming home and I'm sure there were many happy memories felt here a really lovely place it wasin it's day which gives me a happy feeling because the house well served it's purpose.
