Thanks for watching! I'm in the process of moving right now so my kitchen time is limited. I'm thinking of doing some more of these review-style videos in the short term since my microwave is my best friend for the time being! Let me know what you think!
Years ago, Stoufers was a lot better. About 2 years ago I discovered Michael Angelo's and that's the Lasagna for me when I don't make my own, their eggplant parm is good too, I haven't tried their chicken parm yet.
Just had some Stouffer’s and I have to agree about the noodles. They are surprisingly good. We cooked ours in the oven and I think it’s better than microwaving it.
Every Michael Angelo's frozen meals are superior to anyone, perfect for a quick meal when you don't want to cook. Add a good Italian salad, some garlic bread knots, it's as good as 'out'.
Thank you for watching! I enjoyed making these taste-test videos, the chicken Alfredo videos were probably my favorite. I’ll keep an eye out for that Shrimp Scampi, thanks for the suggestion!
@@kevinsmith5288 Eggplant Parmesan is also my favorite. I live in South Texas and Michael Angelo's foods are supposed to be out of Austin, Texas, based on Michael's grandmother's recipes.
Michael Angelo's makes several very good products. Shrimp Scampi (add peas or veggies if you want. It's pretty buttery.); Eggplant Parm; Veggie Lasagna; etc.
Excellent video! Stouffers has a cheese-lover's lasagna and a meat lover's lasagna. I adore the cheese lover's lasagna. The meat lover is too spicy for my taste. I plan on buying the cheese lover's lasagna when I go shopping next week!
Michael Angelo's used to sell a vegetable lasagna at Sam's, that was amazing. The meat one is excellent too though, hands down best frozen meal out there.
We tried Rao's sauce and didn't particularly care for it. Also, I am not going to pay $9 for a jar of marinara sauce. I'm not running an Italian restaurant in my house.
Stoufers was actually served at the pepper mill restaurant chain in the 70s. Baked and then a ladle of sauce on each portion. It was great. It’s not the same today. Pitiful really
I just had the Michael Angelos the sauce was a little bitter but not enough mozzarella on top but Stouffer is good but not consistent enough in every package but I will try the Great Value next time but with like every store brand who makes it.
I like Stoufer's but have to be the Italiano style. It has more bite and flavors. My favorite frozen lasagna is LaRosa's out of Cincinnati, but may be hard to find.
I've had the Stouffers and thought it was pretty much terrible in every regard, even when baked in the oven. I used to buy the Michaelangelo's at my local Wally World until they stopped carrying it. Was pretty good IMO, at least for a frozen lasagna out of the oven. I'd throw a couple slices of Mozz or Munster on top and broil it at the end. They have another one now that's refrigerated called Rayna's. It's pretty good.
Most of them are high in sodium. I just did a frozen breakfast sandwich review and included shots of the ingredient list, maybe should have done that here. Thank you for watching!
Michael angelos was sold at Costco back in the 90s. It was the best. Better than my moms even. With my kids we probably did 3 a month. Today? It’s like everything else. Pale by comparison
One important aspect you left out was COST/value proposition. I am a Stouffers fan. I don't shop at Walmart, RAO's is too expensive for what you get, and I have never seen Michael Angelo's. It must be a regional brand. I am in Maryland.
Absolutely agree! I did mention the Rao’s was the most expensive, and I didn’t like it as much as the Michael Angelos. This is just my subjective opinion though. Enjoy whichever one you like! Thank you for watching!
I'm not surprised about Michelangelo's; ending up on top. I have to say I am sadly disappointed about the results of the stouffer's. Growing up back in the day it was common for our family to pick up a family size Stouffer's lasagna. On a side note, Michelangelo's also has an excellent eggplant parmesan.
I used to like Stouffers decades ago. I broke down and bought a box about a week ago. It was awful. The noodles were thick and doughy. I agree the sauce is ketchupy and it's lacking in meat and cheese. I was very disappointed.
@@southernaccentfoods In all honesty, I wouldn't worry about it. Taste is very subjective and we're all different on that level. You're also entitled to your comparative opinion. I think you did a good job.
I have tried them all, and none of them are as good as my Mom used to make. Her lasagna was so good everyone in the family used to beg her to make it at at least once a week. As fas as frozen lasagna the best one is Michael Angelo's, by far, even Rao's in not as good. The Stouffer's lasagna is ok, and the Great Value lasagna is the worst. Some of the Great Value stuff is ok, but not the lasagna. And you have to bake them in an oven, none of them are as good when you cook them in a microwave. I tried it a couple times and it is not even close to as good as when you bake them in an oven. It makes a big difference, you do not get the slightly burned brownish edges in the microwave.
I have to say that i don't care too much for stouffers lasagna. I feel like the quality of the ingredients just isn't up to par. I take walmart brand over it anyday of the week. I do love Michael angelo though but haven't had it in forever.
i find stouffer's to be way better than michael angelos. i tried micheal angelos twice and both times had cheap quality meat with a lot of gristle in it. i emailed the company and complained about it and never bought it again.i never tried rao's lasagna but tried their frozen pepperoni pizza and its excellent, comes heavily seasoned with a lot of oregano sprinkled over it and has great crust and sauce.
Michael Angelo's meat lasagna is good been buying it for a while so is other stuff they sell i think some out there are confusing this brand for those tiny Michelelinas not even close
I did the Michelina’s in my mac and cheese video. It was awful. I Tried the Cheape$t and Most Expen$ive Frozen Mac and Cheese! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RiWGeVN_7no.html
The Wal-Mart brand is good get a meat lovers and a5 cheese cook meat lovers first and then the 5 cheese Intel to get her makes it more like more home made. But a little more meat and and cheese would made it very good!and some black pepper.good cheap meal!
Thanks for watching! I tried the Beecher’s Mac and cheese in this video I Tried the Cheape$t and Most Expen$ive Frozen Mac and Cheese! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RiWGeVN_7no.html
Walmart make it better fold up th edges stir up 12 ounce cottage cheese add one egg ¹/3 real greated parm and 1 teaspoon garlic , onion Powder 1/2 pound of cooked hamburg cooked tiny dieced green pepper add this to the big family size
I’ve heard good things about Amy’s and I HAVE tried their pizza. I might do a frozen pizza review and include the Amy’s. Thanks for the suggestion, and thank you for watching!
Agree with the rankings. I think stouffers lasagna from 20 years ago would have won, but sadly like most things they've sacrificed quality to make a few extra dollars.
Well…that’s disappointing! I used to buy Stouffers lasagna all the time because it was really good! Honest! But like so many things the past three years have ruined/changed so much.😢🤬
Thank you for watching! The Stouffer’s was too sweet for me, which is admittedly subjective, but there are definitely differences in quality among these brands.
I am a 75 yr. old Italian American woman whose mother was a seriously great cook of Italian American food. And anyone I knew who ever had the good fortune of eating my mom’s Italian food will attest to that. I have never cared for eggplant; but, mom’s Eggplant Parmesan was outstanding. When she passed at the age of 97 in 2019, I told everyone I knew that I would never again be able to eat any Eggplant Parmesan, because, of course, nothing could compare to my mother’s. Then one day, my husband, who learned to love my mom’s, brought home Michael Angelo’s Eggplant Parmesan. I was somewhat insulted that he thought for one moment I would be willing to eat it! And I was also very surprised when he ate it, and told me how good it was. Reluctantly, I tried it. And while you will never hear me say (or him, either) that it is anywhere near as fabulous as my mother’s, I was genuinely surprised how good it was. We still buy it on occasion, and I still enjoy it. So, I was not surprised to see that Michael Angelo’s lasagna came in first place. One thing I wish you had included in this excellent review is the sodium count of the different brands. Stouffer’s products tend to be overloaded with sodium. We quit eating this brand a while ago because of that. Also, I am not a big fan of Rao’s jarred tomato sauce, so I’m not sure I’d care for their other Italian food. In general I am surprised by the quality of Walmart’s Great Value brand. Again, not necessarily the best, but still better than many of the major brands when it comes to frozen food products. Thank you so much for this review. I am going to subscribe. 👍🏼
STOUFFERS family sold out kept same pic on box & name & u had a choice microwave or Boil on most frozen foods & of microwave the bag was flexible when cooking micro or boil like chip cream beef sauce was awesome crap now
