Does this mean i could have lower voltages on the pin header ? Because i'm from a EU country and i have troubles figuring out wich pin is wich on my Q-X7

@@darmanskirata4198 No, it means you only Tx 60mW instead of 1 to 2 hundred, not much difference, US has more space. Many Tx only put out 60mW.

I see the problem with this at point 6: unplug your receiver so it has no power. I have mine soldered up, so... yeah...

Are you trying to update firmware on the Tinyhawk or the XLite? Anyway, if you're having RSSI issues a firmware update won't fix it. Most likely it's a damaged antenna on the Tinyhawk.

I believe this problem with lua scripts is at the first batches of R-XSR. Patching firmware released 10-2017 . So probably they ve start selling it with updated firmware after release.. I ve bought my R-XSR on 18th Jan and it came with updated firmware.

It can be a crap shoot what version you get since suppliers sometimes put the new ones into the same bin with the old ones.

Firmware 2.24 and above has the rollback feature.

Joshua Bardwell Its on 2.25 , from what i can tell the rx is stuck in bootloader mode as when i plug it in it stays green even when no tx is on, we’ve tried a lot of stuff to get this rx back to no avail. Flashing through bst port , updating , rolling back , nothing has worked

I guess the point to my post tho , was that even TBS isn’t impervious to software/hardware problems, these things can be finicky at times.

Want to do the same with tx16s and r-xsr. Did you get it right?

Flash S.Port flashes to the servo plug on bottom of the radio. Since the X9D doesn't have this port, that option doesn't appear.

@@JoshuaBardwell Any idea as to why they refuse to bind when I do the "flash external module" with my X9D? It's a newer X9D SE, have swapped the power/ground wires as shown in your video, using the stock Taranis battery, correct firmware, the loading bar goes as it should, but it won't bind after the flash. Fortunately I have the QX7, otherwise, as it stands, I'd be outa luck.

Once you flash the receiver, all is good.

You only need to flash one. I'm not sure why I downloaded two.

On the qx7 he wire us standard servo pinout, signal, 5v, ground.

Joshua Bardwell that's what I have . Using the cable that came with it. Led blinks briefly. Have just updated to opentx 2.2.2 and now see flash s port . Internal and external . S port still does nothing so going to update boot loader....just watching your vid on that . Keep up the great work.

I had the same issue. Running the newest OpenTX version and using 2s voltage rather than 5v (don't use 3s!!!) helped me

It's possible to manually short the pads but some will find it difficult.

Joshua Bardwell I’m pretty good with an iron, the situation ended up as me overlooking the port in bf, but for future reference: solder a small lead from the center pad to the outer ring (the edge of where the button was)?? Thanks in advance,appreciate all you do!

Would you mind elaborating on that, my button came off too. (Though the pad is still there as a little hump that I can press and it feels like it still works. I'm having a problem binding so I don't know if that's my problem.)

If you have a TX pad with bidirectional inverter, such as for SmartPort, then FPort will work.

The firmware shouldn't affect whether it will go into bind mode. If it refuses to go into bind mode, then I would think the bind button was broken.

When it powers up solid green light. Red and blue are off. It stays solid green when I plug power and hold down the bind button.

Same for me on my 2 R-XSR .... Solid Green and nothing else ... I contacted the FRSKY support ..

Xlite S cannot bind in D8 mode. You can try to switch the Mob7 and Tinyhawk to "FRSKY_X" receiver type and bind in D16 mode.

For a typical spektrum receiver, you would solder the signal wire to pad RX6. In the betaflight ports tab, verify that UART6 has "serial rx" enabled and nothing else on that same row. In the configuration tab, verify that "serial receiver" is selected as the receiver type, and then most likely SPEKTRUM2048 should be selected as the protocol. If the wiring is correct, this should cause the channels to start moving in the receiver tab. Of course, you have to have the receiver bound. I did as you instructed and change UART6 to serial RX. It worked. The channels began moving in the receiver tab, however the yaw is aux 3, roll is pitch E, and pitch is aux 1. The drone still want arm. Do you have any further suggestions on how I can correct the receiver channels and get the drone to arm? Thanks again.

Mine will only binds to xjt lite module. Wondering if having your problem. You have to remove receiver use special plug. Plug receiver into transmitter. Download r-xrs firmware FCC onto transmitter sdcard. Then goto sdcard radio setup menu and goto sdcard page then firmware folder and install to receiver (not internal) . There are youtube videos

Do you ever get solid green on the XM+? If not, then I think it hasn't bound.

@@JoshuaBardwell Yeah, its green, i finally figured out the issue. but now when i have it hooked up to Beta flight and i am in the receiver tab. its like delayed. ill get like 3 seconds of control of the preview then itll freeze. then a few seconds of movement and then nothing. i refuse to quit but man its tempting i dont know why i am having so many problems with this build

Move the radio further from the receiver.

@@JoshuaBardwell omfg. I have a giant mixture of hate and relief right now. Moving the transmitter 10’ fixed both the blinking and beta flight issue of the receiver tab lagging. Thanks man.

Since he uses servo plug where two lines are ground and power, the signal line you get automatically as you plug it.

I love my XM+ 's. I had trouble getting rssi to work at first on one quad but I once I did they ate great and super tiny. OSD gives me my voltage per cell and full. Have rssi what else do I really need. FPV for Life!

The receiver and the transmitter must have the exact same firmware on them. So if you have ACCESS firmware on the receiver, you need ACCESS firmware on the X-Lite etc.

Yes, that's what I did with my QX7 and the RXSR (most recent firmwares) and recently I've flashed with ACCESS to work with my brand new X-Lite pro, but the problem remains. In bind mode all led's are fixed.

X9D doesn't have the sport output. You have to flash using the pins in the module bay.

The fix has to come from Matek.

It sounds like you are flashing the wrong firmware. Make sure both Taranis and receiver are using LBT (EU) firmware.

@@JoshuaBardwell Tried flashing both receiver and transmitter with both in various versions. The radio was sold as an EU radio so obviously I started by flashing the RX with EU firmware which was what stopped it from working, I then tried flashing the TX with the EU XJT firmware, both of the versions available on FrSky's site, no luck. My latest attempt was flashing both RX and TX with FCC firmware and it doesn't work either. Everything was working perfectly, but I wanted LUA scripts and was told flashing the RX was a good idea to make sure it supports it and now nothing works. Also, the radio is pretty wonky when it comes to the USB connection, I basically can't get it running as a storage device so I only have luck taking the SD card out and adding the files to it directly. Really starting to regret getting this Taranis over the Spektrum I was considering and really starting to beat myself up over messing with things that did work, had this rush delivered since I was going to my first race tomorrow and now, $350 later (yes, they're expensive here) I can't even fly five meters.

Ahh and now it got even worse, now it fails to flash the RX firware. It starts but at some point during the process it stops and the screen on the Taranis says "Firmware Update Error Module refused data [EXIT]" - The only one it does now flash is the non-eu R-XSRFCC171009 version, but flashing the TX with the XJT_NONEU_170317 still doesn't make it work. Does anyone know exactly how the LED:s should look when it goes into binding mode? I recall the red led should flash when successful, but should there be anything before that? Because right now, it always just goes to solid green only, which according to the manual indicates an active link.

Just to follow up, it may help someone in the future since I found no one through days of scouring the webs for information who had this problem and thus no solution. No, it was not using non-matching firmware, nor the firmware version of anything at all. Apparently it is possible to put you radio in a state where it can't successfully update the firmware of neither it's own internal transmitter module nor external receivers when updating OpenTX - every time I was flashing firmware everything appeared to work, the progress bar completed without errors or warnings - but the flashing had no effect. What I ended up doing was using an FTDI-chip and a bit of passives to be able to flash the modules using the FrSky S-port Update tool directly from USB. Exactly how is far to long to write here, it's on the scale of a Bardwell video, but if anyone has a similar problem ask me and I might be able to help you out.

@@bewing77 hello. I have the same problem like yours. I had Taranis EU version and r-xsr fcc version. They did not bind, and somebody told me to upgrade the receiver to eu version. I did that and now the r-xsr has always a solid green. with each firmware update says successfully but don't sure what firmware I have on my rx or tx. I did like dozens on each :( . what is the solution? I don't know what a FTDI-chip is... :(

Same as flashing any other firmware. Just download the LBT firmware instead of the FCC firmware.

I am using the matek vtx fchub I am trying to follow these directions but my smartport is going to motor signal pad 5 not a part, am I still able to update this way and what would I put in the cli?

It should be the same, with the plug on the bottom of the X-lite. It uses standard servo wiring (signal, power, ground) same as the QX7.

The RXSR usually comes with a servo plug that connects it directly to the QX7, yeah.

Your transmitter should listen for active signals from radar etc. and only if that is not found the transmitter can transmit on that frequency.

It is Aug 21, '18 and I'm ready to switch to this protocol- can anyone who has recently purchased this receiver tell me if the flashing is still required for the latest firmware, or is it preinstalled and ready to rock? After using Spectrum for a long time it seems unusual to have to flash firmware on on either the radio or receiver, guess it's the work required to make it work properly?

Download the correct XJT firmware and re-flash it.

I'm a little confused by the question. The Matek F405 is a flight controller. Binding is done between the receiver and the transmitter, and doesn't have anything to do with the FC. So I'm not really sure what you're asking.

I just don't know damn thing about anything except how to fly fpv some I done it twice and I got a knack for it and I love it love it okay the problems in my radio and I got the new tranis X Lite and I had to get a computer I used one so I could do all this it had 12 viruses on it and I don't know how to use a computer and it's all foreign what you guys talked about but I'm picking up on it slowly and here's the thing I got the goggles Skyzone o2 I just got the FR sky X Lite, Tyro 99 Quad Racer batteries chargers I signed up for the simulator but can't get nothing to work paid for it anyways I live on a budget of not much Social Security but I can't work on race cars no more and I'll probably be in a wheelchair soon haha just feels like it . I can't get none of this shit to work man and I don't see any of it come with instructions and let's see no the fry sky m receiver or something like that anyways green lights coming on at all my Motors will twitch and that's it if there's anything you can suggest ,What I have it's a bug real bad and it ain't just that I've got a have a fix and fly you know what I mean maybe you can help yeah you could send me a download for that SD card maybe my mistake was with I downloaded the wrong stuff I copied off some other RU-vid site that said I'll leave ya everything you got on an SD I have to download it to it while yeah it made it work made it came on all sexy but it didn't do a damn thing for an airplane can't donate much but I definitely am feeling guilty for not I've watched almost all your videos and still you know you guys are talking what's the red light for on the little FC board whatever flight controller haha I know you guys are all cool talk to you later to you later bye

Just re-flash the internal radio with the correct firmware. You can download the firmware from the FrSky web site.
