Hello John, i want to use the module from Dx5e and mod a external bind button as well. taranis mod and bind is via software bind button which is done in menu.. does anyone have idea how to add external bind button to a spektrum module
Hi Zazir, Bind on button can be done. Here is the multiprotocol module site that has the information. github.com/pascallanger/DIY-Multiprotocol-TX-Module/blob/master/Protocols_Details.md#bind-on-channel-feature .
@@dronepatrone Hello Patrone, thanks for your message and reference link, however i am looking for a option how to have physical bind switch like it's available on spektrum radio, frsky djt xjt module which we press and then turn on the power to let module go into bind mode.. same option i am looking while getting a module from Dx5e and put it into a non taranis radio.. i have a hitec radio and it doesn't have option in menu using which i can switch to bind.. rather it was a same physical bind switch on its hitec module like we have on frsky djt and xjt modules
Excellent tutorial, however I have a IRangeX module and it seems the SAFE offsets and -80 to 80 range edits you did don't apply to it as it is not a true Spektrum module. I had to revert them to regain function on my Sport Cub S. I tried them because my AS3X is either on or off, no intermediate setting.
Thanks! On some models, I assigned Channel 5 to a 3-position switch and reversed the output and that seems to allow for all 3 flight modes on some models. Good luck and Happy Flying!!!!
@jps99 I looked at the website for the IRangeX module and it does auto convert channel order and receiver output ranges to 1100us to 1900us for DSM which is why you had to revert to 100% travel. According to the manual for the Sport Cub S, you could try setting the Channel 5 three position switch to +100, +40 and 0 in the outputs and possibly the inversion of that. Hopefully that works. I may have to add the IRangeX module to my list of upcoming videos. Happy Flying!
@@dronepatrone Okay, that was above and beyond the call of duty! I am impressed by your spirit of helpfulness and will give that suggestion a try. You earned a SUB!
I know these are mainly known for their price to feature ratio, but how is the build quality of one of these compared to something like a Spektrum DX6?
Hey Richard, Spektrum VS FrSKY build quality? Well Spektrum is a premium radio brand that has better feeling stock gimbals, intuitive menu systems, amazing customer service and feels a bit more solid in the hand. FrSKY has a better radio link, ultimate in customization but a heavy learning curve, newer radios now come with upgraded gimbals, lots of spinoff companies offering new radios based on the FrSKY protocol creating competition, innovation and low prices (Jumper, Radiomaster, etc..) My daily driver these days is the Radiomaster TX16S which has a built-in Multi-protocol module and I use mostly FrSKY receivers. In the end it really does come down to your intended use and personal preference since, both are very good systems but, neither is perfect. For the FPV and drone world, an FrSKY type radio is a better fit. If you plan on mostly flying Horizon Hobbies products then Spektrum will be an easier fit. If it's RC cars then Futaba is your go to. Happy Flying!
@@dronepatrone I’m actually quite interested in that Radiomaster as it is pretty cheap. Is it something I could grow into and not be forced to know how to program right off the bat?
Hey Richard, Yes, you can start with minimal programming similar to a Spektrum radio. OpenTX has both an internal setup wizard and a desktop program called OpenTX Companion and, finally there is an incredible amount of resources online that you could refer to. Here is a quick video on what an initial setup may look like for you, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-x0SzOaB5W24.html RadioMaster TX16S Affiliate Link: www.banggood.com/custlink/K33YC1c3U4 Happy Flying!
Exactly what I was looking for! However, I have a Carbon Cub, with the flaps on but they don't have the servos installed. I have Safe, Intermediate and Expert mode. How would I set those modes up on my Taranis X9D? Thanks in advance! Merry Christmas!
For the "gear channel" which is channel 5 set it to a 3 position switch, that will switch between the 3 modes. Aux1 "panic/LAS" is channel 6, set to a 2 position momentary like SH on top right of the X9D radio. Aux 2 "flaps" is channel 7 set to a 3 position switch. This will not work with the homebrew module that I'm using since, its only 6 channels. You will need a multiprotocol module to have access to channels 7 through 14. Happy Christmas!
Hi Brent, I would start with the DSMX_22 protocol and don't adjust the deviation down to 80% since this module will do it for you externally. Here is a quick binding video..... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zI2gTNuPR00.html BTW, which Timber and which Taranis? And did you do the firmware update to the external module as well as having Opentx 2.2 or later on your radio?
