This is the best tutorial on this subject I have seen, and I have checked out many. The dialog is clear and the he doesn't talk to fast. He is also obviously knowledgeable. How does he use the mouse to control the field of view and still be able to click on controls?Also there is a visual representation of the HUB that follows the cursor when the actual HUD is not in direct view? Anyone?

I use TrackIR... It's a clip I put on my hat, and it tracks where my head movement is. Some people get frustrated with them, but the key is configuring the settings to your own liking.

2 white and 2 red for the PAPI (Precision Approach Path Indicators) is a good 3.5 degree slope, all red is to low all white too high.

This explained it a lot better than the other tutorials. Much easier than I thought too. Thank you!

Couple quick tricks: On takeoff, if you are going to be returning to the same airfield, adjust your heading to match the runway as you sit on it for an easy more accurate heading. Leave it there unless you need it for mission navigation, or then take note of the actual runway heading for landing reference later. (Runway heading markings are almost always rounded off a bit). You can use it to get the reciprocal easily if you need it, too. Your HUD ladder gives you a quick reference to glide slope. Put your TVV on the end of the runway. If the ladder shows more than -3 deg. you're too high, if less, you're too low. It's the easy way to get you roughly on glide slope to then fine tune it with the ILS, or get on slope if eyeballing the landing.

This helped so much more than other tutorials and forums. Thanks!

That's great to hear. Glad it helped!

I think you weren't getting a distance at around 9:00 because you were too far from the station to properly communicate(Transmit AND recieve) from the signal. I could be wrong, but that's kind of the understanding I got from RalfiDude's video explaining TACAN in the A-10C Never mind. This could be an issue you can face if you're too far away, but what happened in the video was a bug

Glad to hear it wasn't me (though I wouldn't be surprised 😄)

It would be nice to see how to use tacan to navigate to a lost wingman. Tell wingman to set TACAN to any number between 1 and 63 and you set yours to his number plus 63.

That would be fun. I'll see if it's possible and may post a video on it if so.

Yo! I am starting to get more into the game and I was able to get it started up in the air and kinda land it, the thing I am struggle with in the form of navigation, is that I can not get the TACAN frequency or numbers on the CDU for some odd reason. They just show up as *** and I’m not sure why. Please help😁

Don't know if I've seen that one before, but I also haven't flown the A-10 for quite a while. I'd say your best bet is to check out Chuck's Guides for the A10. Really good documentation and how-tos, and is my go-to on any new module. Good luck!

How do you tell the wind direction? I must be missing it somewhere.

In the mission editor, or the briefing screen.

its frustrating you seem to have gotten the same issue with tacan as me, it seems to just... not work? i had no issues with the f18's tacan but the a10 does not sem to want to pick up tacan signals

It's been a while since I did this video, or even played around with tacan, but if I recall, it is more of a bug with DCS. I think that wind direction plays a role at some of the airfields, but not all, and they'll just switch off the opposite runway's signal if that's the case. Seems like something that would be easy to fix on their end, but who knows.

nice job. but the runway numbers true headings so that means you have to subtract magnetic deviation, ~5 degrees, to get the course heading -> 90-5=85
@Shadow__133

Nope, runway numbers are magnetic headings.
@RattlerSSBN
@RattlerSSBN 2 года назад
Runway headings are magnetic headings divided by 10 and rounded so they are not necessarily exact magnetic headings. A runway may be named '34' but its real heading may be 342°. Because they are magnetic headings they are also subject to change as the magnetic field around the earth changes.
