The title does not deceive you folks, this really is the all-famous Deshler, Ohio! So... for the people who don't care too much about weather, it's been batshit CRAZY here in Ohio these past few months, we currently hold 2nd place for most tornado reports, which is... absurd. Anyways - on May 7th, 2024, there was a tornado warning placed for Henry & Putnam Counties, including the city of Deshler - (Link to Warning Message: mesonet.agron..... This warning just so happened to have a tornado on the ground, tracking into the direction of Deshler, so, in a frantic attempt, Deshler Fire & Rescue activated one of the Thunderbolts for the warning.
Fast forward a few weeks later, Deshler Fire & Rescue made an announcement on Facebook that they in-fact WOULD be regularly testing the tornado sirens once again, in a testing window from 10AM-12PM. Once I saw this, I knew I had to make this happen. On the First Saturday of June, me and some other people checked the Deshler Railcam (via Virtual Railfan), and as 10:00AM struck, 2 of the 3 Thunderbolts wound up flawlessly! As soon as we heard this, Me, Dominic & Jeremy (@SuperSirex127), Michael (@mysst1c_), and Aiden (@SportyTrainGuy) decided we absolutely needed to come here on First Saturday of July, and make this happen.
It finally came the day this could happen, so we packed up, got out of the house by 6AM, and got to Deshler by 9:30AM. Dominic dropped me and Aiden off at this unrecorded unit in Deshler, and Dominic, Jeremy, and Michael went to the unit with the Darley mounted on the same pole on the west side of town. Both of our sirens went off at about 10:01-ish, and I also heard the north side unit wind up, which leads me to believe all Thunderbolts work accordingly, so be prepared to see something of that one of these next few months ;)
