To me, start with a 152/172. Then progress into a plane with retractible gear and a constant speed prop. I wouldn't start using an autopilot until this step. Then multi-engine GA. Then a commercial turbine single and/or twin using all of the goodies. FOr me, after this point I went to an ATR and Dash-7. I have the BA146 bought, but haven't flown it yet as I don't think I'm ready.
Another reason for recommending the 152/172s is the fantastic visibility! When I started it took me quite a while to figure out what kind of flying I wanted to do.
Before MSFS2020 I found myself quite competent to fly the A2A Piper J3 and Lear 45. Leaning by " Try and Error" 🙂 Since I started using MSFS2020 (After a short sabbatical) I started flying the C152 and upgraded after a few months to the C172 classic and still flying the C172 months later because I feel I am still learning basics in navigation, real live weather flying and aircraft systems. I am aiming to fly the Learjet again sometimes with much more knowledge and understanding of basic physics and aircraft systems
I when learning to FLY one should NEVER EVER use an auto pilot. If you do you'll become dependent on automation and when the AUTOMATION fails you'll DIE.
Of course: these videos are made for Flight sImming purposes; but I agree that you should learn the basics of flight first, before relying on the Autopilot.
@@Huddison I don't know what UK regs are but here in the USA to fly in IMC or above FL180 you must be Instrument rated Equipped Current & Qualified in tha AC. Just saying. Instrument Training is one of the Simulators Greatest Assets. Nothing as Exerilating & heart trobing is to Break out at 200 & 1/2 seeing the Rabit. Even in a Sim.
I would say the aircraft you choose depends on the type of flying you want to do. After you have gone through the MSFS flight training and some YT videos, you should have some competency with basic skills and concepts. After that you can explore other aircraft. To date I really like the Vision Jet. It seems to be the ideal balance between simplicity of operation and aircraft performance. The G-3000 is much more intuitive than earlier versions of Garmin systems. It’s like the difference between Apple and DOS. One consideration for me is how much work do I want to do as a single pilot. The more complex the aircraft, the more tasks have to be delegated to the AI copilot. Otherwise you may be overtasked. I have my sim settings set to Hard for almost everything except AI copilot flys when I pause the simulation (I don’t want the aircraft to become suddenly chaotic when I unpause), and I have the taxi ribbon turned on (some airport taxiway layouts are very complicated and many Simbrief airport charts have mislabeled taxiways which do not agree with ground control taxi instructions). Just follow the blue arrows. The most difficult thing for non-pilots such as myself is getting the controller sensitivities correct. It would be nice if more actual pilots could share their controller sensitivities for the sim aircraft they are flying. That should become standard etiquette. Keep up the great content!!!

Hello Hudderson,I know this does not relate to this particular video,but my msfs2020 is behaving terribly, I've got stutters,my scenery is blurry, I've tried to delete saved space,deleted rolling cache, nothing helps, I'm using Xbox series S,this has just happened out of the blue,your help would be greatly appreciated.
