This is one of the best 3:47 seconds of the overview of FSHD. I just realized that a friend of 15 years could not explain my disease to a mutual friend. I thought I was doing a fairly good job of educating my friends, my bad !! this video will be my into for educating others going forward, Thank you.

It should be illegal to have children if you do not engineer the DNA so that it cannot continue. The fact that it's up to people to decide such a thing is absurd.

Hey that's a terrible idea. You likely don't know that what you're saying is called eugenics, and has been used to oppress people like me for decades. Lots of famous fascists and dictators have thought the exact thing that you have. It should always be personal choice to have children or not. My mother has muscular dystrophy as well as me and it's honestly better than if I was alone.

Anonymous Cat Anonymous Cat It has nothing to do with oppression. Though it can be done wrong and out of hatred, it is on my part purely motivated to save people like you from suffering. You can lie to yourself all you want, but the truth is that you would have a better life if you didn’t have muscular dystrophy. One thing is pass on average crappy genetics to your child which ruins his/hers life in the dating market or in any other facet of life, another is to give them a disease. It is immoral as fuck to do unnecessary harm. If you do not acknowledge that, you are lying to yourself. We’re acquiring the technology to do something about this. We no longer have to enter the genetic lottery to be in this world. Yet, people like you are so morally confused you can’t even figure out that having genetics that cause you suffering is worse than having them changed. And in defense of eugenics, it is not just a benefit for the individual, but for all. The better out DNA is the faster we will progress as a species, which unless you don’t wanna get rid of cancer either is a real step in the right direction. Having a population full of falling IQs is a big problem, and we can’t even employ a big percentage because of how stupid they are. Are you telling me you want them to suffer in poverty, even though it’s not their fault that they lost the lottery AND it can be changed? Fucking absurd.
