This guy is unbelievable. I think we set a record with the largest deficit in a college playoff game and then this record-breaking losing season after going undefeated in the regular season.
Miami's O line took 2 years with great O line recruting and coaching to get to that level. Portal is tough with O line. Those guys are hard to find there.
In today’s cfb world anything can happen. Mike needs to replace the coaches and coordinators with tried and true personnel. Those personnel will bring their own players with them and through the portal we can replace the positions of need. This isn’t 2000. It’s possible to right a program way faster as long as Mike makes the right decisions. The offseason will be his make or break
Not really worried about keeping any player. The QBs may have some upside, but don't see why team would be knocking down the door to get them and that goes for the rest of the players. Why in the world would another team want any of these players?
@@TheDrRJP It is simplistic. But, the comment places accountability for the program where it belongs, and it poses the correct big picture bottom-line analytical question.
I feel as an FSU fan for over thirty years, l have not been able to wrap my head around the inactivity of the players and Coaches! They appear lifeless! Too many drop balls and confusion! They need an independent third party to intervene and find out why the disconnect is taking place! Can we forfeit the rest of the season and rebuild?😩
"Reputation"?!? The reputation of CMN as a coach and this program as a whole is right down there with the likes of Enron, New Coke, and Ryan Leaf. What CMN has done to this program really is rare, spectacular and something to behold (for all the wrong reasons). It would take parting of the Red Sea-level miracles for him to be able to pull out of this. Luckily for him, he's going to get at least 1 more year to give it his best shot.
Go back 9 mos and 90% of all of us thought very highly of Mike running this program. Gushing about this portal class,So much so Alabama was trying to pluck him and FSU said oh no, and locked him down. Im not saying this is acceptable, obviously. But imo, he screwed up in delegation and trusting people that let the team down. Trusting,,,⭐sWe have a few free lancers unfortunately. My opinion
In the modern era of college football, that is post WWII, no team in D1/FBS has either won a National Championship or had an undefeated regular season and failed to win at least 1/3 of it's games the following season. Even the 2019 LSU Tigers having gone 15-0, managed a 5-5 season, LSU is the first reigning champion to not finish with a winning record since the1967 Michigan State squad. Prior to WWII, the 1939 Michigan Wolverines went (1-7) after winning the championship the prior year. The HISTORIC and colossal failure of our beloved Noles is a devastating blow of legendary magnitude. There comes a point when a programs credibility with recruits is unrecoverable, be them from high school or the portal, regrettably that point has been reached, as you can be darn sure our recruiting competition will make certain the aforementioned facts are known. It's time to fire Mike Norvell
The jury is out on Brock. He's not a top 20 QB. Not sure about Luke. He is too quick to give up on the play and bail out. He does not keep his eyes downfield when the first receiver is not open. Right ?
Exactly! I've been saying the same thing for months! DJ Dookie and Cam Ward were not the only options. Literally any QB in any P4 team would have been a better choice than DJ.
What makes you think either qb wants to come back? Also what coordinators are going to come here? Even if you overpay no one wants to come to a team after a season this bad? Even if you overpay the coordinator that person has to be idiotic to risk worsening their career coming to work for a coach who just won 1-2. Idk how they turn this around without getting rid of Mike
Where would they go? Off of the tape they have? Not saying either QB could not go anywhere, but I don't think they are burning to leave. If anything, I would think their demand would be the OL needs to change or they would leave for safety reasons. I'm sure that many coordinators would interested in turning this team around. Some really good recruiters would make a huge difference. I don't think you can scheme around a bad OL, or this WR group. If these 2 groups were above average, we would not even be talking about this right now. There are a couple "keys" to making this a good team, and there are many coordinators and position coaches who would like to come.
I get all the hate. I understand that this is year 5, but I've seen some positives during this youth movement, and I wouldn't mind seeing this play out. I do think we need some changes on the "offensive" staff. I would like to see anyone who could get the O-Line fixed. If that means Atkins has to go, then he has to go. I can't believe that, at this time last year, I was worried that someone was going to come in and steal Atkins away from us. Now I don't know if I want him on staff. I think that fixing the O-line would solve a lot, not all, but a lot of our ills.
I know it's hard to overreact given they were undefeated last year, but he has lost this team so much that it's going to be very hard to get people to want to come here and play under this scheme
@WheelzGaming88 "scheme" is that what Norvell is running, a "scheme?" Oh, look another run play on first down...or my personal favorite... the back to back, goal line, qb sneak for exactly 0 yards...
It’s less a problem with Mike and coaching staff IMO, and more a problem with the talent. We just don’t have the same caliber players - it’s the only constant. Solution: bring in people and resources that can recruit top talent.
sadly, our noles gonna have do their best maintain skill players they have and invest every penny they can muster on an OC, o-line coach and complete overhaul of the o-line
We have to have the worst fan base in America, just a year ago yall was all on Mike Jock now we have a lil adversity and now it’s time to dump him , true indeed we shouldn’t be in this position but all the crying and belly aching isnt going to change anything, let see if he makes the changes in the coaching staff to get this right , recruits parents also are watching what yall say also
Yes, Mike Norvell is the ONLY ONE who can bring FSU back BUT he ABSOLUTELY has to get help from psychologists trained in treating PTSD patients. Once Mike realizes that the issues are psychological and beyond his capacity to handle, he will rebuild the program the way he did before after those issues are properly resolved.
Doesn't it look like FSU has been trying to "train up" a head coach every few years since Bowden's winning decades? Player development is something we continually talk about. What about head coach development? Is there a "coach whisperer"? Get that person!
I can't listen to Norvell's canned speeches for more than 30 seconds. Imagine the players having to listen to that every day. They have tuned him out, and they don't care.
I think it’s time to just bite the bullet. Eat the 63 mil and fire the guy.. it’s going to cost you more to keep him around. Too much money invested into football to have consecutive losing seasons. If it means you have to cut spending on projects and stay in the ACC then do it.. we can’t afford to keep Mike around for another 2 years.. I think the only way the admin fires him this season is if we somehow lose to Charleston southern.
Remember LSU didn't want him he's completely defeated broken he has to get his staff like a fish the O-line coach should have been tossed by now he'll the GT game had me saying it's gonna be a long season and fire norvell might have people saying audit the public colleges it's to much turnover to just be AD/and alumni
5:07 I don't believe retaining Norvell is a foregone conclusion. I think every week with each additional loss the "support" for keeping him diminishes. Lose to UNC at home and to Mack Brown for the first time ever and watch things get ever worse. Lose at ND in an uncompetitive game and watch things get worse. Potentially look poor in a win vs an FCS school, and watch things get worse. Lose at home to end the season to our in-state rival who also isn't great - but is vastly superior to us this year - and who may be with an interim HC after losing 4-straight games, and watch how things change. That would be Norvell's SECOND loss to an interim gator coach in his 5 year FSU tenure. NOT GREAT!
Fair assessment Jeff. How does he or can he fix this? The Name of the game is recruiting and he has failed miserably. He swung and miss in the portal and can't turn to his roster to fix it. Where does the $$$ come from to buy a class???
It's not the coordinators W /O Jordan Travis what is Norvell's record at fsu. Prior to Jordan did the offense look like this or better. Last 3 games w/o Jordan & with nfl wideouts and an nfl running back plus an all acc tight end the offense looked like this. Purdy, Milton, Rodemaker, the 3 qb's this year all look the same in this offense. Lamar made Louisville look like their oline was the best unit in all of college and when he left it looked like this years fsu line. Petrino won coach of the year with Lamar and was called a qb guru & offensive wizard just like Norvell with Jordan Travis
How can they afford to do anything? Coaches grt paid more to get fired. How is there nothing in a contract that voids what looks like borderline fraudulent malice to not perform?
With an O-line like ours, playcalling like ours, a cancerous lethargy in the locker room like ours, receivers that leave their hands in the locker room like ours how does any QB say "Hmm... Florida State looking like a good fit" 13-1 to 1-11 is garbage truck juice & there is absolutely no way to church that up & make it pretty...
@lindseywalker6925 " He's not been in Tally long enough." He's been at FSU longer than he was at Memphis...your premise rests on a "false equivalency" we're not interested in being Memphis, although, ironically, we're worse...
After 8 games this season Norvell has only scored 21 once this year his offense has struggled against weak defenses but yall call him a offensive guri I no the online has play horrible but I no theirs a combination on the team that could have given u a chance to move the ball but his stuffiness has call this team embarrassment on both sides of the field fuller no better everything open on his defense wrong alignment ever play these coaches are frauds
Better stop picking on Norvell he has to wear sunglasses to keep from showing his tears. Cry baby again this year. Best move of the century was Norvell's agent saying Bama wanted him. ?? For what as a commentator?
Luke >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Glenn ...Glenn is a mutt talent wise sorry NEVER EVER will hold a clipboard in the NFL let alone start for top 25 team EVER
Coaches cannot coach players that are incapable of playing. Drop the Lawsuit and beg the ACC to take our losing asses back. A complete and total unmitigated FAILURE. This Team has only begun to LOSE!
Also the recruitment is really taking a hit we’ve got 4 star players flipping their commitments and only one 5 star player that is still on board so that leaves only 3 stars that will sign! And that’s going to mean that next season will be the same as this season! And again I’m going to keep saying this but FSU waited WAY too long to build that facility and attract better players!, Jimbo said it 12 years ago and the same is still happening now so I can only hope that the new facility turns recruiting around!
Just make it easy. Shut the program down completely. Seriously..Nobody wants to see this garbage year after year. FSU is an absolute joke of organization. They don’t have the money to buy their way out of this 💩 show. The fact Norvell is an absolutely terrible recruiter should have raised eyebrows. Certainly not worthy of a 70 million dollar….85% of which is guaranteed.
only thing in that game exposed was culture and fact Kirby coming from coaching tree he comes from uga depth chart was 3 deep in 4 and 5 stars and culturewise uga starters for most part played bowl where noles opt’d out and depth chart for noles is dismal. since fisher deciding beginning of his last season he was going Texas a&m and not even recruiting for fsu and then taggart yrs, the product was 💩, no way norvell building depth to the likes of uga
Last year was a perfect storm for Mike with all the pieces he got from the portal but as soon as y’all lost Travis, despite your record, you guys weren’t a top 10 team I’m sorry. Pretty sure Norvell talking to Bama was what secured him his insane contract. It sucks to see this even tho I’m not an FSU fan.
FSU fans blaming everyone except the HC have low standards for the program. Norvell is not the second coming. He has not recruited nearly well enough to compete at the highest level on a yearly basis. FSU fans you should expect way more.
Norvell pulled off the greatest bank robbery heist of all time at $60 million. I’ve never seen a program collapse like this and there’s no end in sight as the recruiting has completely fallen apart. FSU fans clowned Mario for his record in his first 2 years but he was building the program from the inside out with the trenches and recruiting high school kids. Norvell can’t recruit nor can anyone on his staff so he’s dug himself a hole that he can’t climb out of. If he couldn’t recruit after a 13-1 season how the hell is he supposed to convince kids to join him after going 2-10?? FSU is in serious trouble. Aren’t they still paying Taggart’s buyout?? Ouch sucks to be You 🤡🙌 GO CANES
He can recover but was never the coach that would win you a natty. He was always a mediocre coach. He could win you ten games. He just never would have made you a National champion again.
Couldn’t happen to a more deserving program and fanbase. Karen University throwing that huge tantrum about how much better they are than everyone starting 1-7 😂😂😂
