i think the developers stated their goal was to make a game where 9/10 runs end in failure, and that they do kind of regret it

God I forgot about FTL, never thought I’d see it again but it’s great to see y’all play it!

Over 100 comments and I've only seen ONE that mentions FTL: Multiverse Free total conversion for FTL that came out 7 years after the original release. Unique crewmembers, significantly more weapons/drones, more alien species and subtypes, something like 80 ships to unlock with most of them having at least one alt layout. It's what a sequel to Faster Than Light should have been, more or less.

Fun fact: The "stealth" C doesn't have any stealth module or shields lol

FTL is my dedicated "turn my brain off and listen to podcasts while playing roguelites" game during this point of quarantine (it went Hades>Gungeon>FTL)

This is one of the last games I'd expect you to play! It's such an intricate and unforgiving game once you really get into it, I hope you guys feel like making more FTL videos because this was great

Oh FTL! I love this game! It actually was my first PC game! I'm so glad to see you two play it! Some tips : you should use the autofire so you don't have to micromanage each engagement as much, pretty useful especially later in a run. One of the icone on the left below your crew list on the right is for saving each crewmembers' post assignment, and the other one is for automatically sending them back to it! You also have a button to close/open all doors in the bottom right.

I highly recommend the Multiverse mod it adds a lot of things and has quite a few secrets

One of the best ways to play this game I found was “2 player Mode” One person plays the Captain of the ship, And one person plays Pilot. The captain is in charge of where to go, what deals to make and every other choice, and the pilot is in charge of moving the ship and general combat

The fact that Zack is rockman is extra funny. It immune to fire damage but Zacky Zack made entirely of explosive residue

Fun game. Harder than it has any right to be. By the way, watching you two play games and hearing about Zach’s MOS (91F if I remember right) inspired me to pursue a job as a Firearms Repairman. Probably not in the military due to some underlying health issues, but as a certifiable gun-nut it’s a dream I intend to follow.

I saw a good run once using the raiding ship. They had a clone bay and stealth to help

The B-Layout of the Lanius Cruiser is really good for boarding builds, it has a teleporter, mind control, clone bay, a flak gun that requires less power, charges faster and has a narrower blast radius, and 2 lanius crew member at start just in case, but doesn't start with sensors, and has a level 1 engine. It is a lot of fun

I need more of this. Make it a series.

FTL is one of my favourite games. One of the reasons I bought an iPad was the ability to play FTL whenever I want.

Did you know? If there are low oxygen in a room you can open all the doors to equalise the oxygen on the ship, that way it recharges quicker.

fun fact: if you have a ship that cant possibly hurt you, but has people... you can cripple their oxygen and kill the crew that way, which will give you more scrap in the long run.

For anybody wanting to beat the game on normal a tactic I use is to grind all my crew to max skill in the first or second sector. Upgrade your shields to level two within the first two sectors, find an enemy ship with just one or two lasers that can't get past your shields, start the fight and then walk away (for 10 to 15 minutes) until your shields, engines, and pilot have all trained up to max skill. If you have a weak single-shot laser you can also set it on autofire to train your weapons-crew at the same time. Helps significantly in the first couple sectors

one of the Rock ships gets a fire bomb as its starting weapon and its great for crippling ships without destroying them. its by far my favorite weapon.

Here is the best tip for survival: ALWAYS rush two pont shield, then enough power to keep it comfily on all the time. Saves a lot of scrap from repairs which you will need

My favorite race has always been the Lainus. By *FAR* the most OP race. Hire another, get rid of your human, turn off the oxygen generator, and vent the whole ship. Immune to fires and intruders, and more power. The just target the enemy's oxygen. EASY wins.

Oh man, FTL is probably one of my all time most favorite games. Any time I see someone play it I have to hop back in. ...I'm sure my wife will understand if I spend our anniversary just playing FTL, right?

I love this game. Doing the Gila Monster mass mantis invasion is so much fun. Hard for the first zone or so, but you get so much more when you take a ship whole. Defeating the boss can be tough. Be warned if you kill all the crew of the Mothership it’ll take on an AI which is brutal. I found it’s best to leave one of the crew alive in the main guns that way they can’t repair the other systems as you peck them down. I find the hardest of all play throughs is Engi: drone only. RNG is so dependent in that.

Honestly I can say, out of all the people I've seen on RU-vid, Mike and Zach Complement each other in the same way that Makriplier(MARK), Muyskerm(BOB), and Lordminion777(WADE), Compliment each other. Its like a salty and Bittersweet :)

In sector 1, I prefer to upgrade to 2 layers of shields. It will earn you more money in the long run than repairing.

there is a game that is literally FTL but with MP called Tachyon. its free but kinda dead. has some basic stuff to it, still fun and lets you make custom ships

Missiles count as weapons like a 150mm howitzer counts as small arms.

I think there's some sort of audio issue because this video has a lot of really high pitched piercing sounds. Little pips and squeaks throughout from the game and I think maybe from the spoken audio too? I am not sure. It isn't a big deal for one video but if this is a series then I'd appreciate the high pitched sounds getting filtered out in future. I forget what the name of the kind of filter I'm thinking of is called. Also Pebble Zach is my new favorite character on this channel besides Miss Cactus.

So you are doing well. What I would have done was buy the Long Range Scanners and save up for a second shield layer. Having 2 shields early is a big advantage.
