This may be old news to you but the little tab you're pushing is the actual locking tab. If you look on the opposite end of the mount, there's an actual lever to depress, releasing that tab. However, it looks as though your mounting configuration may prevent access to the lever.

I bought my FTM-200 Last August. I have had NOTHING but issues with it. Last weekend it TRULY Broke down. Monday I took it to the HRO in Portland where I bought it, and they are sending it off to Yaesu for repair or replacement. When it comes back, I won't even install it-it is going to be sold and I will be purchasing an Icom 2730.

No more yaesu rigs for me either I had bought 2 new yaesu ft-891s both had issues less than 5 months old

How does it sound where you have it mounted and with the speaker facing toward the console? No issue hearing it without an external speaker? If I get the radio I'm thinking about mounting it in sort of a similar position in my truck but with the speaker facing outward and will mount the head on the dash using Lidos quick release mount that allows you to push a button to remove it from the mount to take with you

Thanks for stopping by and watching! I haven't had trouble with the speaker facing toward the shifter. I found the speaker gets more than loud enough to overcome the placement disadvantage.
