ftm Timeline (Twin Edition) 

This one hit home a little, I have an older sister and wondered why I always wanted to be like her and wear dresses like she did when we were kids. Long story short I too found out I was trans during my early teenage years but due to fear of societies input and my lack of confidence I kept it a secret and just tried to be "normal". I'm 28 now and happily 1 month and 2 days on HRT :) The main reason it hit home though was that.... my dead name is Luke :P I'm surprised when I see other Luke's lol I hope it treats you well. I fits you. Be ready for all the Luke I am your Father jokes, and "Cool hand Luke" jokes ;) thank you for uploading your timeline. Next is a hormone update timeline!!! Right? But they're twins. They looked exactly the same. They looked like CHILDREN regardless but then we are conditioned to associate short hair with boys so even though they looked the same it made him look way more like a boy. It's interesting how we shove these ideas onto kids so young instead of just letting them be free and develop how they want to. Fair play to the parents for being supportive and it looks like they weren't pushing gender norms on them from the beginning which is cool

My parents say that what I wear is for boys but they still get it for me. I had to slowly wear more masculine clothing instead of going straight to the boys section though. I don’t think I’m trans and I have long hair but I think I’m just a bit of a tomboy. I’m nearly 15 so I’m in a big stage of questioning though. I remember being 7 and my signature outfit was ONLY spider man shorts. I didn’t even wear a T shirt. At this time I also tried peeing standing, let’s just say that didn’t go well… 😂 :) ❤

I’m not trans but my parents have always done that too and everytime we went shopping if I want to go in the guys section I could I never did Bc I’m not trans but ya. Also I used to get truck toys and stuff along with my dolls because they didn’t care they just let us be who we wanted and it worked out.

I’m not trans, but I’m really appreciative of how my mother raised me... she actually hated how girls were expected to wear pink so she’s buy every colour and I’d usually wear orange or green. I hate when people say that if we don’t push gender norms on children they will somehow turn trans, it’s completely untrue.

Yuki Xia literally until like age 11 if I had seen then I never would have guessed that they weren’t both biologically female. That’s the way I want to parent my kids. If they want to be girls and be super feminine that’s fine but they don’t that’s ok to. No gender roles. I wish my parents did that for me

yeah little kids can often pull off being a girl or a guy, once you get to a certain age that's when most boy's faces start to square out a little bit. it's very fortunate for kids who discover that they're trans when they're really young, because they can pass pretty easily. once you hit puberty that's when things become a bit more difficult to manage.

Just think about the struggle he had to endure even though with looks he passed but once he matured I’m sure he had to deal with a lot of mental challenges once he went through puberty.

@Juliana Silva No but there's a big difference between a trans person and a tomboy. I don't agree with this person but I think alot of people don't understand why trans people exist. It is a mental condition but not a delusion. A lot of people respect that condition and use preferred pronouns. Think of it this way...if someone has say PTSD you aren't gonna purposefully remind them of that trauma because you don't think they deserve "special treatment" or something.

It's a blessing and a curse. I'm from the generation where it was all physical copies, not digital. So there's a whole file cabinet full of photos of my sister and I, as well as ~100 photo albums. The curse is..how do you throw those out?? You have to at some point. Be thankful for digital cameras haha

Small children don’t look like they have a certain gender unless they are put into those clothes or atmosphere. If you saw them out on the street in different clothes they could pass as a boy.

As someone with an estranged sibling and no knowledge of your situation, some things are bad enough to keep you apart and for good reason. Don’t ever feel guilty for having boundaries. The whole “but you have to forgive/deal with family” mindset can be toxic and a lot of people will never understand that. I did that. I went from hating skirts and jeans and dresses to wearing them cause it seemed like I should (although I didn’t mind some of the stuff I had). I always felt off, I did make up and wore clothes that showed my chest and stuff, and it really didn’t make me happy. Everything always felt off, no matter what I did. I found out when I was about 14-15.

Many girls struggle with this if they don't like or identify with traditionally feminine things (that was me).. i hated my female body, being called a girl, thinking of myself as female, etc... That doesn't mean that we are somehow male, even though we identify with a lot of supposedly male things, think we have male brains, etc.. This issue is so complicated. I feel that as teens we are looking for final, ultimate answers to all our problems, including gender dysphoria. Hormones and gender reassignment isn't always the answer.

Heidi H thank you for sharing that, it is true feminity doesn’t equal female and masculinity doesn’t equal male. For me personally, it is hard to explain why I knew trans was the right identity, there are many more factors than what I have said that helped me understand.

I always identified with most traditionally "masculine" qualities, and i saw traditionally "feminine" qualities as weak.. not that i judged others that way, but in myself. I hated and was disgusted with my "female" body. I had gender dysphoria since childhood (born with xx chrompsomes) but i knew instinctively that changing my body would not make me more comfortable with myself... i felt separate from my body, yet disgusted with my body... i just didn't want to be connected with my body... I guess that must be different from what many people who transition feel?

Heidi H I cannot speak for everyone who has transitioned, I can only speak on my experience. For me it was a feeling that I needed to make this body the right one. I felt disconnected from it not only because it has female anatomy, but the fact it didn’t feel like it belonged to me. When I started binding and packing and cut my hair it felt so good I actually started seeing the good traits I was born with. In addition to the benefits I got from pronoun changes and other things.

It’s not even the fact that I support her anymore, she’s 35 & my baby & now has her own baby, 4 year old sperm donor mini me (my grand baby is my world). I have always known many male & female gay people, which in my brain is now old fashioned normal lol. In the last handful of years I’ve tried to make a point to educate myself more on the whole LGBTQ+, because if I am interacting with someone from this set, I hope I can speak to them respectfully & have some kind of understanding of the journey they are or have made, it’s such a broad community now it blows my mind. @@es2774 some non-binary people "transition", like a person who is ftm/mtf but they're still valid and not male. I'm personally non-binary and the only reason I won't transition is because I'm sensitive to medicines and surgery wouldn't help my mental health and outlook on myself

@Lacey Kean it's when you're neither female nor male, personally for me, when I "dress up" or present as either it makes me uncomfortable. My preferred pronouns are they/them, and although some may say that's plural, even dictionaries state how it can be used in a singular sense. And it's okie! You were polite when you asked :)

@Lacey Kean I'm not sure of the specific term, but it is possible to have a preference for people who are more gender ambiguous when you look at them, like some can have a preference for people who are feminine but still date males because of how that male might present. I'm personally panromantic, so I'm romantically attracted to anyone. Someone who is non-binary can be put under the umbrella of trans because they are not cis, though it's not common for those who are nonbinary to say they are trans since they don't transition. The word non-binary is a big umbrella term like the word gay, I could say I'm gay but really mean Im panromantic. Non-binary collects all the terms that you might use if you're not female or male, like you can be a demigirl (you sometimes identify as a girl, and other times you don't) demiboy, agender (when you don't identify with any gender), genderfluid can be considered a more specific term underneath the umbrella that is non-binary. I'm personally genderfluid because sometimes I feel more feminine or masculine, but most of the time prefer to be neither. Similar to sexuality, labels that you choose should be ones that you connect with. Being bisexual and pansexual are very similar, but I prefer the latter term. Being non-binary and genderfluid are very similar, I prefer non-binary. To each their own! agree. I feel the same way. I went through phases of having long hair and dressing like a 'girl' because i wanted to fit in but each time i would go back to cutting my hair cut and dressing the way i wanted to be and not how the world wanted me to be. I'm still yet to come out to my family but i have known since i was 12 and even eariler i knew something was different. The first ever memory i have is at school when my teacher asked me what i wanted to be and i said i wanted to be a dad.
