FHF BH serve cont. 'you could end up serving it too high or too low.If you have a small stroke, you'll have a better power input and a better feeling.' "People usually use their forearm which is wrong, giving them a bad serve. The best way to do a backhand serve is to rely on the fingers and the wrist. Use your thumb to push the racquet, and twist your fingers. This will make you have a small forearm action." 'In doubles, you generally use a backhand serve. You don't normally see a forehandserve
@Musicalinfluence
@Musicalinfluence 12 лет назад
First part (service bit): Straighten your arm, make sure you point the racquet head backwards by really opening up your wrist (bending it extremely). This way, the shuttle will fly really high and far because a lot of the power comes from the wrist. The difference between long and short services lies in how much you use your wrist. In a short serve, you use your wrist to cut slightly across to shuttle so it falls short. In a long serve, you use your wrist for power to lift and hit the shuttle
@Musicalinfluence
@Musicalinfluence 12 лет назад
CY cont:'another problem is about recovery of jump smashes. If I jump smash, where am I supposed to go? If I go there, then where is my partner supposed to go?' "If a player smashes at the back of the court, then the other player should protect the front of the court. When one of the players plays a defensive shot (such as a clear), then the players should recover positions in an anti-clockwise direction. Notice how the offensive set-up moves clockwise though.
@Musicalinfluence
@Musicalinfluence 12 лет назад
CY:'The way me and FHF play is whoever plays a crosscourt, should move forward and the other moves back when appropriate.' "Notice that whenever a smash is played on an opponent, it is usually a backhand that returns or blocks the smash. Why is this?" CY: 'If you use your forehand, you have almost no manouverability. For example, you can't take shots that come here. Whereas if you use your backhand, you can take all sorts of shots. You can also use it for what should be a forehand shot.
@Musicalinfluence
@Musicalinfluence 12 лет назад
FHF JS cont. when we were younger, we'd practice the action and general play for around 2 months, before we'd do proper/actual smashing. You must practice this first because this is a critical shot. The jump smash has 4 stages; 1) ready 2) move your body appropriately 3) prepare your racquet 4) execute the smash. Note that when you're in the air, that is when you really use power, and when you jump, make sure that you relax your body.
@Musicalinfluence
@Musicalinfluence 12 лет назад
CY cont.: 'very much time to try and play a cross court, so they are most likely to play a straight block/drop, so putting myself there saves me time to receive the shuttle. If they play it away from me, my reactions are fast so I can move quickly enough in time for a good shot.' "The two players will sort of follow each other around the court, covering and protecting their partner. Their formation will generally always be slightly diagonal."
@Musicalinfluence
@Musicalinfluence 12 лет назад
BHs cont. "also note that you use your wrist and thumb to generate most of the power. Watch the rotation also of the stroke. The rotation is quite similar for both forehand and backhand strokes." FH Drop. "You should feel the shot in the end of your racquet. You should aim your shots to be a little over the tape at its highest. BH Drop. "For this shot, you should angle your body with your racquet head point slightly down, and you should have a slight 'rubbing' action.
@Musicalinfluence
@Musicalinfluence 12 лет назад
"and infront of the player. General people will usually hit a bad contact point, which is lower and further back than is ideal. This means they cannot generate as much power." "Doubles is a very fast-paced and competetive event. It is also a very common play for recreational players." CY: 'They know how to jump, but their strokes are all wrong, and Sometimes they play forehand when they should have played backhand, and they waste time doing this.'
@Musicalinfluence
@Musicalinfluence 12 лет назад
BH drop cont. "Beware though, do not move your racquet too much. If you're going to crosscourt, then try some deception; pretend to go for a straight shot, but at the last second, receive it lower and execute the crosscourt by moving the in the same direction, but directing your racquet head a different way." FHF's comments:"I've seen a lot of people do the backhand drop this way, not using their fingers and wrist and instead, using their forearm. The forearm's power output is not specific
@Musicalinfluence
@Musicalinfluence 12 лет назад
FHF BH serv. cont. Also, recovering into play after a backhand serve is much nicer and easier. no 1-4 corners, the centre edges are 5 and 6. Backhand strokes: "Backhand strokes are a common shot. People tend not to use it to hit the shuttle very far. Also, when people play the shot, a lot of people don't turn their bodies properly. You should turn your body 180 degrees. You should also receive the shuttle quite high as always. People commonly receive it quite low."
@Musicalinfluence
@Musicalinfluence 12 лет назад
Second service bit: 'Now FuHaiFeng will teach us some tips on the backhand short serve'. Hold the racquet quite far up the handle, because a backhand short serve requires fast motion and a fast reaction, but don't hold it too far up the handle. If you look at Lin Dan, he generally uses the bottom half of his handle, but in doubles, it's a lot quicker so you hold it further up the handle. Sometimes, he holds it up here (shows in vid). Generally, you only really hold it up to here (shown in vid)
@Musicalinfluence
@Musicalinfluence 12 лет назад
JS cont. "many people create their power by swing their racquets straight down, when they should be swinging it diagonally across their body. This can easily end up in injury and poor directing of the shuttle." FHF: 'first, your stroke action should be like this *shown*. If you jump smash, you should rely on your abdominal area even more for power in the rotation. So a lot of people when they start to smash, they do this *shown*
@Musicalinfluence
@Musicalinfluence 12 лет назад
"Although many people like to play doubles, most of them don't know how the positioning in doubles really works. Essentially, the two players must cover the court and protect their partner when they are vulnerable." CY: "A lot of people are unsure about positioning in doubles. For example, if FHF plays a smash on the left side of the court, I'll follow him and go slightly to the left court as well. This is because a smash is a very fast shot, so the opponent will not have
@Musicalinfluence
@Musicalinfluence 12 лет назад
FuHaiFeng BH serv. Cont.: Holding the racquet around here (lower) will cause you inconvenience because you get less power and it's slower. The most important thing in the backhand serve is the power gone into it, and how you 'curve' your racket around the shuttle. It is also important to note where the contact point it, and where you start to input some power into the serve. 'There is a misconception that the sweet spot for backhand serve is here *points in the vid*'
@Musicalinfluence
@Musicalinfluence 12 лет назад
FHF BH NK cont. 'You definitely cannot use your forearm, because if you use your forearm, you're probably going to put too much power into the shot and end up hitting the net with your racquet, so it is better to use your wrist.' Jump smashes: "There are two kinds of jump smashes *don't know what they are, sorry. I think they mean straight and cross court*. To do a crosscourt, you should aim to slice accross the shuttle. If you try some deception to make it look like you're aiming it straight
@Musicalinfluence
@Musicalinfluence 12 лет назад
FHF Js cont. When you're performing the stroke, make sure you direct the shuttle downwards with power, and swing your racquet diagonally accross your body. this will make your shot a very effective and good shot. "The JS is a very difficult shot. One must master the stroke action, and get used to creating power in the air before their shot becomes effective. Also, receiving point of the shot is very important: the contact point is ALWAYS at the highest point possible for the player
@Musicalinfluence
@Musicalinfluence 12 лет назад
CY cont.: 'because it saves you time of having to change grip. Blocking needs fast reactions, so if you keep changing grips, you will probably end up being too slow, that's why you generally use backhand. If you have lots of time or it's played really obviously to your forehand, then you can use forehand.'
@Musicalinfluence
@Musicalinfluence 12 лет назад
BH drop cont. "These two shots are relatively similar. You also need to use your wrist and your fingers to gently 'touch' the shuttle over the net. Make sure your arm and your racquet foot are in line when you receive the shuttle. The crosscourt action is exactly the same for both hands, and almost the same for the straight drop; receive the shuttle infront with your arm out, and gently touch the shuttle. But for cross court, you must receive it higher, and put in a little more power into it

yes I know they did, and thank you for doing it. I know english grammar is irregular ( I had to learn it too) but compared to cantonese/mandarin it is way easier.

Because the speed of the shuttle is so fast, that normally a defensive block of the shuttle will result in a straight block, hence the front player follows the line of the person behind.
@Musicalinfluence
@Musicalinfluence 12 лет назад
Smashes cont. this will cause the opponent a lot more trouble. To cross court the other way, then cut accross the shuttle in the opposite direction (shown) by rotating your racquet face the other way. Whether it's straight or cross court, the receiving action is exactly the same. The only difference in the stroke is the rotation of the wrist. China's top doubles pair FHF and CY both do similar jump smashes; very high and hard shots, and they vary the direction with great accuracy.

some of the people in china are more internationally aware (as in, they travel around a bit and know people outside of china etc.) so they will have different sorts of techniques to access blocked websites. the most common way is to use a VPN
@Musicalinfluence
@Musicalinfluence 12 лет назад
BHD cont. *voiceover basically just reiterates what FHF just said*. BH Netkill: The racquet face must be straight and face downwards, otherwise the shot will be slow and not very effective. You also need to receive the shuttle at it's highest point possible. In this shot, you most definitely rely on your thumb (and fingers) and your wrist. This way, you get the best control, power input and speed."

However it will take quite some time for me to be good enough in the language to understand videos like these so please do translate it if u find the time; it would be much appreciated not only by me im sure ~
@Musicalinfluence
@Musicalinfluence 12 лет назад
FHF BHD cont. as the fingers. if you do this, and this, this way is a lot more stable. Dropping is the same, using the fingers is enough, because when you go into the shot, you already have the momentum of your footwork movement, so your momentum and the finger input is definitely enough for this shot. The reason why a lot of my friends usually hit it out is because they use their forearm. They use it and it's not ideal.'

CY: 'another probelm in doubles is who is supposed to play the shots that come in between the players? a lot of people argue of this and there is a lot of confusion on court. Really, the player closest to the shuttle should come in and take the shuttle. If a cross court is played, then the player at the end of the cross court line should receive the shot. If a straight shot is played, then the player at the receiving end of the straight shot should receive the shuttle.

FHF BH serve cont. 'and some people even hit it here *points on here*. But actually, the sweet spot for the backhand serve is here. A lot of people rely on their forearm for this serve, but this is actually really wrong because using your forearm will extend the stroke, which will move the contact point and will result in less power in the serve because some of the power "diffuses" during the stroke.
@Musicalinfluence
@Musicalinfluence 12 лет назад
FHF JS comments: 'there is a misconception that the jump smash relies heavily on a high power output, but actually this is wrong. So when they do this, the more they want to jump smash, the more power they want to put into it. This ends up in them affecting their arms badly. A lot of this is because their stroke action is wrong. They create power like this *shown* whereas it should be like this *shown*. The more you do it like this *shown*, the more likely you are to injure your arm.

I have translated it ;) Chinese is extremely wide because there's not really any grammar, so there's a tonne of vocab instead. So even if you're fluent, you'll need to learn badminton-specific vocab to understand 100% of this vid. Anyway, I translated it in chunks. I think I put what bit I was translating or who was talking or whatever so that should help because they're not in the right order because I was translating as I was watching the vid so y'know. just take a look, i'm sure it's there

Sadly its too much of a hassle most of the time to learn every language on the planet so it would be nice if some1 who actually understands the language the information is given in would be as kind as to translate it to give a wider audience an idea of what is specifically spoken about... and since english is somewhat of a lingua franca its kind of a given to use it... I myself speal English French German Swedish and a tad of Japanese and i'm planning on improving my japanese and starting chines
