Thank you! I have learned so much from your videos.. been playing 30 years and only I. Last few I'm realizing how important these little parts and upgrades are!! What a difference I have in my tone from following you!! 🤘🤘🤘 Rock on. EVH was the greatest ever 👍✌️. Jersey Jimmy
A big thank to you Adam for all the good upgrades and the great and simple to use tools like the spring puller and "the key" for intonation that make it enjoyable to do,no more wrestling with parts.
I recently bought the extra heavy duty noiseless springs and love them. After Christmas I’m going to do an FU-Tone hot rod on my Floyd 1000 series trem. Brass block, stainless steel hardware and titanium saddle inserts. I gotta buy the kids and grandkids Christmas presents so I have to wait. But after Christmas, it’s daddy’s turn! You’ve got the coolest stuff Adam!
Love ya Adam!! Keep it up!! I never realized how the smallest parts of the guitar that were inconsequential to ME to the effect they would make on the tone !! KEEP it up..HEY NOW!!!🤘🤘🎶🎶🎵
Great video with the mod upgrades, Personally l love the Wolfgang pup that’s standard in these superb axes. I won’t change it, but l will do the Brass block change though and the bridge. But saying this these guitars are pretty amazing as they come and no way horrible that these changes need doing asap lol. It’s a superb gigging axe. I prefer this than my Ibanez 7VW Jem by a long shot and l upgraded that to EMG actives and yes definitely livens up the Ibanez for sure👌👌
That push push mod is awesome! Very cool stuff indeed! Also, what size & model big brass block will work the best for the Frankie? I'm interested in doing FU Tone mods to my new Frankie. Thanks for any info.🙏
I was wondering why you wouldn’t wire it with just the neck pickup on instead of both being on. Turns out, it sounds freaking amazing! The bridge pickup gives it just a bit of the bite it needs.
When I tell you guys that FU-TONE is Amazing, I really mean it. Adam Reiver has worked on my guitars replacing the Mother Sucking Tone parts with FU-Tone parts , and the difference can't only be heard, it can be felt in your chest as the guitar is against you while you play it. It's just that obvious Adam knows what he's talking about, and what he's doing . Get yourself an FU-Tone Transplant for Christmas, or anytime, and make FU-Tone your New Year's Resolution
@@TheAxe4Ever Hey fellow AxeDancer. I live about 45 minutes away from FU-Tone and have been to his office a few times to take and pickup guitars. All my 80's and early 90's guitar heroes are his friends and sometimes their guitars are there getting work done. Adam is such a cool down to earth guy too. You won't be disappointed with his mods. Thanks for reaching out
The made in Mexico stripped series don’t have wonderful QC, I got my son one and the low E fine tuning thumbwheel was threaded into the bridge, the guitar was set up so the D-tuna didn’t work and the knob on the volume pot kept going around after hitting the end stop of the pot. The guitars are expensive for what they are too which only compounds matters.
Bought the push push pot from Fu-Tone and have looked at the wiring diagram on you site and watched the video multiple times but can't seem to see exactly what wire is where. The video and the photo on the website don't seem to match up. The video looks as the hot wires are being connected to the left side of the pot from the top and the wiring diagram have the hot being connected to the right side of the pot from the top. And what about the green and the red wire before any of the pickup wires are installed. t would be nice if a finished photo of the switch install was available for both options, Humbucker single coil separately or hum bucker and hum bucker/single coil combined. I can solder but have no electrical background so please help! Mainly not sure where to put the three black ground wires. Interested in the bridge mods but would like to get the pickup mod completed first.
i'm in the same boat, just bought all the upgrades from FU and cant figure out between this video and the website wiring diagram how to wire the push pot ????? Someone please help. I can solder, just dont know where to put the wires. Thanks !
Wire the middle switch lead to the left side of the pot (hot in) The wiring on the fu tone site is for the bridge alone and the bridge and neck together , easy .. If you want to have more distinct tone . Wire the bridge on one side and the neck on the other of the switch leads with hot in being the middle You will have more distinct tone difference. Buy some fender pickup foam to put under the neck pickup to raise it up for more balanced volume between the pickups
How exactly do you wire the pickup to the push-push pot? I bought a pot and soldering iron but I've never done anything like this before lol!!! The video was sped up at the point where you were doing the install so I wasn't quite able to understand. Anyone know?
Could u tell me why u used a trem block when the Frankie relics usually come set against the body what does the trem block add and which would u recommend on the Frankie also did u change the block in the Frankie relic or did it have a brass block already cheers
Do you have a better instruction on the push push for soldering in the the pot I’m getting an EVH next week and I definitely want to add this mod that’s is really cool deal better then pulling and pushing
I want to add a kill switch on my guitar to replace the tone pot because I don’t use it but will this work for my two voicing Fishman fluence as a volume pot?
I am going to wire in the neck (and upgrade the bridge.) Neck and Bridge will be independent of one another though. I want to add a 470k resistor on the neck p/u to roll off some of the highs. Not sure where the resistor gets wired in without a pickup selector in-between. Any ideas?
Hi, So I have one of these on layaway and bit by bit ordering mods for it. What size block would I need this model? I noticed that the EVH 5150 takes a 37mm. I just want to make sure everything fits without shaving stuff off to make it fit.
@@FloydUpgrades but what if i acquired a big block?does it affects the routing of the trem cavity even if im using a non floating bridge like evh guitar?

I've wanted to do a push push mod, or even install the blade switch, since I saw this guitar. Unfortunately with Eddie's passing, these are too hot to get a good deal on these days. Maybe in a year or so the casual buyers and/or opportunists will release some back into the wild, lol. Is the blade a 3 or 5 way, and is it functional?
It is a a 5 way switch and is functional, but you're better off leaving it where it is. I bought a 5 way superstrat switch and installed it and now have a whole array of tones: bridge humbucking, bridge split, bridge split+neck (humbucking), bridge humbucking+neck, and neck only. Great array of sounds and simple to put back stock if you ever decide to sell it. Great guitars but don't pay a scalper for one, they will be back in production soon, if they aren't already. You may have to pre order but that's better than paying hundreds over actual cost. Btw, the humbucker is 4 conductor wiring, all Wolfgang pickups are, you just have to trim back the outer shell of the pickup wire about half an inch to expose the other 2 leads.
Can your show how to install a Frankenstein bridge pickup into a Frankie guitar. The pickup mounting holes are different between the Wolfgang and the Frankenstein.
Since EVH guitars have been selling out for two months now and back orders are stacking up until spring at least a lot of EVH content is in order. The Standards needs upgrades the most. How about some how to on the EVH Standard. Pots, Tremolo upgrades etc. Won't hurt your sales either.
@@FloydUpgrades I graduated from that course :) Thanks for that! Keep 'em coming. Even if its a rework of a older video with a update or a little tweak. EVH content is on the menu. Lets make it a feast. Won't hurt your views or sales.
That cool but I would do another mod thats similar same push push with another push that would split humbucker the middle and itll be half humbucker and neck and neck by its self for strat stuff. If neck pickup aint that great sounding i would replace it with red single coil from dimarzio 👍 Two pushes good three better😅😊
Everything that you done was awesome! Two questions 1.Why would you need a tremstopper when all EVH guitars are not floating?2.Could you wire the single coil pickup with out the bridge pickup being on at the same time?
Hey Mark - Good questions! I add a trem stop for 2 reasons: to level out the bridge and the direct contact to the block has a huge tonal benefit. To your other question: Yes - you can st the up position to be just the single if you want it that way.
@@FloydUpgrades Thank you for the quick reply! All the more reason to get a tremstopper tonal benefit and level I would never have known that, that’s why you’re a genius! Thanks again FU-Tone 🤘
In the original Frankenstrat, EVH removed the 5 way switch but didn't know how to wire everthing so left it connected and just screwed it in where the middle pickup use to be. On the EVH Frankie guitar they have stuck a 5 way switch in the middle to honor the original build, but it doesn't do anything, it's not connected.
Question- Wouldn't there be an slight impact to tone by bringing that second pickup into the signal chain? Also the Floyd on these stripe series has a real brass block unlike the Standards, not sure how much of a upgrade the FU-block would really be on the stripe series. Perhaps a little, but considering the Wolfgang Standard's don't even come with a brass block it's a much bigger upgrade there... At least according to the EVH website specs, not sure how old the Stripe series model you have there is (since that stock block does not look to be brass). Last thing the pickup in this current generation of Stripe series isn't a Frankie pickup. It seems EVHGear discontinued that pickup, product page list that back pickup as a "EVH Wolfgang Humbucking", both Alnico II magnets and probably pretty close to one another in spec anyway.
@@FloydUpgrades Right, but I thought it interesting that in your video it looks like the stock block on that Striped series is not brass... The product page for this model list it as brass, but they do get things wrong sometimes. I know the Standard's do not come with brass blocks stock, but Specials do and was just curious what the stock block was.
Upgrade with the new block is huge I did the block the Claw and the springs from fu tone Order the push push switch and just installed it I wired mine different from the demo Wire the middle switch lead to the left side of the pot (hot in) The wiring on the fu tone site is for the bridge alone and the bridge and neck together , easy .. If you want to have more distinct tone . Wire the bridge on one side and the neck on the other of the switch with hot in being the middle You will have more distinct tone difference. Buy some fender pickup foam to put under the neck pickup to raise it up for more balanced volume between the pickups
you honestly think that's a fair upgrade video? a guy has to guess where you put which wires? then not all pickup have the same color wires soyu need to do a north south - + diagram before anyone can use it, I mean exactly what do you think your showing here? I see nothing, um you installed a push push pot? and?
The front pickup sounds like crap. I had a professional tech hook it up with the push push and it’s not the same as the original low friction volume pot in the guitar. It immediately changed the tone of the hum-bucker. And yes it was hooked up the same as the schematic that came with the pot. They will tell you sound is subjective but if you bought this guitar to kick ass like it’s meant to then don’t screw with Ed’s creation. I had the tech reinstall the original low friction pot and my sound returned to normal which was outstanding. Truth being said I wanted this to work and I was very curious what that front pickup would sound like. Save yourself the money and grief. Your welcome
By "front" pickup, do you mean the neck pickup? You'll need to raise the pickup for it to sound right...and a pot won't change the tone, that's in your head.
Well, a single coil should have a 250k pot, not share a 500k. Fenders sells a 250k/500k pot with concentric knobs (no need for a selector switch) I wonder if that is the best solution
So can you install the EVH Floyd without routing or does it have to be a curtain type Floyd? I've wanted to change over to a Floyd on some of my other guitars but don't want to hog out the top.
@@bigdaddycool4242 yeah I get that, I saw a while back that Ed was setting them up dive only and wasn't going to route the pocket out anymore.will it set to high on a different brand?
I have sent you emails and never got an answer on how you wired it up. You sell the pot you should give info on how to wire it up. You take my money but won’t answer my questions. Very unprofessional
If you can't figure out how to connect a simple switch in a circuit, you have no business buying electronic parts or plugging in a soldering iron, take it to a shop to install it.
