A full review of the popular Fuego Dance Sneakers after nearly one year of wearing them!
Hello! I am Jemma from Basakizz, a community for dancers of Bachata, Salsa, and Kizomba in Hong Kong. As there aren't many places to buy dance shoes in Hong Kong, I tend to buy all my equipment online. In order to give some options to our community members, we paired with Fuego to offer discount codes to any members of our community who might be interested in purchasing a pair.
I always partner with companies that I like and use myself. Still, after dancing in the Fuego dance shoes for over 9 months, I thought it was time to give you all a full review on my experience of dancing in Fuego dance shoes as a follower.
I have to say, I really like these shoes. They are extremely comfortable and great for dancing on all surfaces. I bought them so I could have a pair of dance shoes that I could wear in bars and on rough surfaces without fear of injury or ruining my lovely dance shoes! However, they do have some drawbacks, especially for followers, which I address in this video.
In summary, the Fuego Dance Shoes are perfect for a more casual dancer who does a lot of social dancing in bars and even outdoors. They are not suited for someone who does competitions or performances. I find them to be the perfect addition to my dance shoe arsenal. I use them for casual social dancing and save my suede dance shoes for more serious training or performances!

@@cristinaspence2858 Oh shame! 😞 Why didn’t they work? 🤔 Just curious as I have a pair of split soles and I really like them - lots of people have asked me about them and I’ve recommend them to a few people. @@basakizz I have wide feet and went up a 1/2 a size per what the website said. Due to the extra length, they did not fit well and would have irritated my feet while dancing. I had tried on a regular dance sneaker locally and decided that is if was going to get a flat sneaker (versus split sole) then I could just get the one that I had already tried on.
@basakizz
@basakizz Год назад
@@cristinaspence2858 Oh that’s a shame 😞 Your experience sounds pretty similar to another friend of mine who has very narrow feet. It seems like the Fuegos are only really good for people who have a very average foot shape 🤷🏻‍♀️ It’s a shame they aren’t more widely available in actual stores so people can try them on first… I think with all shoes (but especially dance shoes) trying them on for fit is so so so important 🙈 I was so against buying shoes online for that reason until I came back to HK and had no other option 🤣🥲

In case you care, the only way I can get rid of the smell for my other vegan dance shoes is to spray Lysol or other types of disinfecting spray inside the shoes first, then let it dry. Next spray shoe odor refresher and let it dry. This will keep the smell away for at least a month or two IF the socks you wear does not touch other shoes that has bacteria in it. Shoe odor refresher only gets rid of the smell for a brief period of time, but the disinfecting spray kills the bacteria inside that causes the smell. I have to do this with all my vegan dance shoes, otherwise the bacteria will quickly spread into my other none dance shoes as since i switch shoes before and after dancing. Thanks for your review though, I got my Fuego shoes today. May I also ask how often do you dance to get your shoes to this shape, and how long have you had this pair? Just wondering if I should get another pair as backup. Thanks

In this review - the pair that is super beat up were worn every day as non dance shoes too (I even wore them out hiking once 🤪). I wore them literally everywhere and when I got to the bar (usual dance venue here in HK) I wouldn’t change shoes. The newer looking shoes I didn’t wear as regular shoes and just changed into them when I reached the venue.

I should also add that I don’t take very good care of my shoes 😅 So basically if they survive with me then they last well 🤣 It really depends on how intensively you use them and how well you look after them.

Summary after 1,5 years of Fuego experience: cheap material that quickly breaks down. Even in a plastic bag you get less quickly sweat and cheese feet. Said plastic bag would also have a better fit. The Fuego sneakers must have been designed for yetis: Who has no bend lowering flat feet slips unfortunately constantly with the toes forward in the tip and should immediately a packet of ibuprofen against the pain dazubestellen. Owned them now just under 1.5 years and still hate to dance in these shoes. Rather buy a pair of adidas bath slippers, in which it dances at least as well and the sole has about the same material.

@jennifers6463
@jennifers6463 6 месяцев назад
I’d stay away from GFranco shoes. I’ve bought 5 pairs of shoes - 3 pairs for me and 2 pairs for my boyfriend. 3 of those 5 shoes, the soles are coming off. One of them were dance sneakers where the rhinestones were coming off and the bend of foot was making these shoes ugly.

Haha yes I originally felt that about white sneakers generally - now I wear them all the time 😂 🙈 Out of interest what are the other brands/alternatives that you’re referring to? 🤔 Not trying to be difficult or anything - I would genuinely like to know! @@sasithornamy Yeah same! Would be great if there was an alternative but I haven’t seen anything yet 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think it's individual. Many people I know including dancing teachers found a suitable alternative not among dancing shoes. And it should not necessarily be sneakers. I also found shoes I really like, but these are men shoes. I wear "Ecco Turn" shoes for dancing, which also are casual shoes. I discovered accidentally that these shoes are really good for spins. I am pretty sure there are also a lot of good shoes for ladies.

@@basakizz After a lot of experiments I finally bought these shoes too. They are not perfect, but I think they are still the best alternative at least for social dancing, especially for open air.

Yeah.. I’ve never seen a shoe snap in that fashion. I’ll pass. Shoes are premium priced from a relatively unknown company and the quality doesn’t seem to match up in terms of longevity. The selling point of these shoes (at least for me with street styles like jookin, flexin, generally gliding) loses its value in the face of having solid foundational skill in your dancing technique.
@basakizz
@basakizz 2 месяца назад
I think it goes without saying that no shoe can replace good practice and technique 💪 Sure, it can aid a dancer and help prevent injury but it’s definitely not a shortcut to becoming a better dancer ~ to be fair I don’t think Fuego tries to claim that either 🤪

Dancing in the rain is fine..if you're Gene Kelly or Donald O'Connor! Waste of money destroying a shoe made for an indoor dance floor wood or concrete.
