For me, is number one without any doubts; real dressage, with life, not a horse transformed into a mechanic, rigid, not free, not alive, not one with his rider
One of the very few times that I have felt joy whilst watching a performance. When will this prejudice against PRE horses disappear. Wonderful to see a horse happy in its mouth, really swinging through, and a rider who cares!!!!
The rider is classily trained in the Spanish/ Iberian style. The criticism I read of hands is absurd! The history of dressage is cavalry training, which is what I got from Granddaddy who was in Military school in the 19 teens. One hand needs to be free for a weapon, a lasso, to tip a hat in a park. A horse ridden with legs instead of German bridle torture is a useful companion. His hands are fine. You pursue artifice with low still hands.
Being present in that arena for Fuego XII's performance was one of the highlights of my life. Horses like Fuego are the reason people want to learn dressage.
Glenda Brown I would say it is the combination of horse and rider! I had one horse that was like MUSIC with me. He understood me and I him, it was a connection I will always remember and have never achieved since...I’ve come close, but nothing like English Falcon! An off the track TB. He was an awesome horse.
Still my favorite musical freestyle. It displays next to passionately ridden phenomenal dressage in very tough technical aspects, the ultimate partnership between horse and rider, the pride of this Spanish horse and heritage and last but not least the enjoyment in it all. He literally invites the audience to marvel with him during his ride and they get the message loud and clear.
Thank you, Spain, for Juan Manuel Munoz Diaz and Fuego XII!! This ride still gives me goose bumps every time I watch it. Please, no matter what the FEI judges say, please keep entering magnificent horses and riders like these so the world can see what dressage is supposed to look like. Gracias!
Fuego is the most dancing horse i ever seen. What a freestile, wonderfull music... and he look concentrated but relaxed... you see it when the ears are moving with the rythm of gallopp. One of the best rides evver, i'm sure.
Juan Manuel and Fuego XII won the night, if not in the eyes of the judges. He had to have known that the judges were going to slam him....and they did. He finished 5th. But he cared more about the exhilirating performance and appealing to the audience than he did about the score. I thought there was going to be a riot when they announced his score. I liked the universal "up yours" given by his team mate or coach at the end. Still gives me goosebumps.
@@deniseshephard6947 - Aside from 'politics', which seems to be a part of every human endeavor... this horse and rider are so different from the carriage horses that have been favored in international dressage competitions for several decades. The judges seem to be so accustomed to seeing horses with an artificial 'headset', behind the bit, with hindquarters not engaged, that have to be muscled through the movements... that they don't seem to recognize the lightness, the true collection, the consistent cadence, the impulsion of classical dressage when they see it. There are a few exceptions among the carriage horse riders. Extremely athletic horses can look good, even when trained from the head back, instead of being developed from 'the ground up', and collected from the hindquarters forward. (Anyone can look up the origins of warmbloods, by the way.)
How Edward Gal on Tortilas scored higher than this horse, even with two breaks, one into canter from the extended trot, and a smaller one neat the beginning of his test, is a mystery.
Yes very good done, the horse is very concentrated on the music and the reactions of the rider in this circumstances Juan Manuel, thanks and kind regards.
Honestly in a lot of dressage competitions and tests, it always appears as if the judges have some bias against PRE horses in dressage. It happens almost every time, no matter how wonderful the horse did. It's ridiculous.
@@SnidgetAsphodel It feels like the judges have some bias against Iberian horses in general. At the Tokyo Olympics, the Portuguese rider Rodrigo Torres and his Lusitano Fogoso delivered an impressive performance, and he was put behind Carl Ester who tried to put his horse's croup at the higher point, not to mention Jessica von Bredow-Werndl who got the golden medal while her horse had a hollow back all along. Sometimes I wonder if I still understand dressage.
I saw this and even though technically they did not win. They got the standing O they deserved. This was the most memorable performance I have ever seen. This horse is so brilliant and wonderful to watch. They make your heart sing.
This is one of my favourite performances in dressage I've ever seen!! I can't tell you how many times I've seen this video, makes me wish I'd seen it live!

How often does one see a horse change leads at every stride whilst going around a circle? Or top level riders in competition riding with the reins in one hand? To mention just a few aspects of this excellent performance.
I mean Valegro is of course awesome. But this is my favourite horse ever to watch I always come back to this video and have now named our new colt Fuego after this horse. Almost makes me cry watching this it's just so brilliant!
There are horses that cause an impact over a series of performances. There are horses who perform with such technical correctness they are considered nearly flawless. Valegro comes to mind here. And then there are horses who give us a performance with such magic and fire that they take our breath away. Fuego falls into this category.
Perfect, perfect , perfect. The best Dressage I ever seen. Mrs. Isabell Werth and a lot other Riders must see this and has to learn from this dream team.
Fuego is the most beautiful horse I have ever seen in my 60 years with horses. Simply breathtaking and at the end o their performance Juan can show off, they both deserve to. Perhaps Fuego isn't quite as technically correct as Velegro but who cares? Such a wonderful stallion and a superb job by Juan.
Love to see Spanish Andalusian horse in Grand Prix, Kudos to them and what a slap to prejudice judges who if it isn't warm blood don't like, Wonderful performance!
When horses turn their ears in different directions they are listening in that direction. Fuego was listening and concentrating on his rider. Great horse. Great performance.
I watched all the available rides from this competition, and for me it was the best ride. Morally, Diaz and Fuego are the overcomers, and let the judges be ashamed
Gives me goosebumps and teary eyes with joy every time! The showmanship, the proud Spanish heritage, and the talent of horse and rider. This is how dressage ought to be; fun!
I keep coming back to this amazing pair. That divine Horse! I mean , he can even do flying changes around the bend for goodness sake! I haven't see the warmbloods do that! I wonder what happened to him?
The most astonishing Kur I have ever seen in my life 👌👌👌 this is what Dressage should be 😉Enjoying your horse while giving your best, he deserved a place in the podium🤭well somebody must shake a little the Dressage world otherwise people will start to support more spectacular sports in to the Olympics in the near future. 😉
With a disengaged horse whos so ill trained their legs dont even move in sync in the trot? A horse who Piaffes hollow, not actually reaching under themselves? Looking at what you people consider "world class" im not surprised. Half of these riders should be disqualified over their horses broken neck alone.
I love tests like this. It reminds you that riding can just be about having fun with your horse and a bit of music, because this guy just looked like he was having a blast the entire time. :)
I love how is ears are airplaned at some points, issuing a challenge to the rider that says "Let's have some fun! This is boring!" But they're also back, listening, to his rider. The snaps of his legs are loud and clear and so much different than "Float like a butterfly," because this horse "stings like a bee."
Super ride. Super horse. Boy does Fuego listen to his rider. Got to love those relaxed ears always in contact with his rider. Just love this horse & rider combination. Super :)
Juan Manuel Munoz y Fuego XIII are the best team that I have seen in years. My heart soars with joy every time I watch them. I smile the entire time and have to laugh at the end when Fuego XIII jumps or is spooked. Juan holds on, while laughing. It reminds me of my horse and I. I am so happy that "caballoscardenas" shared this FUEDO XIII Kur Grand Prix Freestyle WEG Kentucky 2010 utube video. I'm going to try to put it on my utube page for others to enjoy. I am disappointed that the judges didn't give them a higher mark.
Totally agree Bini66ify (and others here) - having been in the crowd that night (specifically to see Totilas for the one and possibly only time it was likely for me to see him within driving distance in person), I can tell you Fuego's performance was ELECTRIC. The entire crowd was on its feet and going nuts during the trot extensions and the two tempis on the circle, plus the one handed one tempis. Juan Manuel and Fuego are making it look effortless - what lightness in the reins and thrilling
Can´t watch this over and over again... What a performance! What a pair of spaniards! Insane extended canter to piaff! Incredible!!! For me the true winner of this night!!!!
Absoloutly amazing!!! The horse and rider look like they're both having fun! You can really tell he loves this horse and what he's doing and that's what it's all about! :D
I must admit, I'm extremely new to spectating dressage, so there is a WORLD of info I do not know. But... when i watched this horse and rider move, in absolute harmony, it spoke to me. How could anyone not see how beautiful this emotional dance is? Again i dont know the details of what's looked for. But me, a nobody, was moved by this performance... therefore it had to have been magical for those who do this for a living. I'm left with goosebumps ❤
Fuego and Totilas, two horses which completely take my breath away and move me to tears every time I watch their performances. Nothing is more beautiful than complete harmony between horse and rider.
This stallion is amazing he is clearly loved and well cared for this stallion is enjoying the music his paces wow so fluent that crest of a neck its a shame there arent any of these stallions competing in dressage
Such a great performance - I still get goosebumps; Juan Manuel Munoz Diaz and Fuego XII did both a great job with a lot of sweat, but they both offered a great show to every one. Thanks
I save this to Favorites so I can watch it all the time. I love this horse and rider. The horse is so darn cute. Rider is awesome to get him into the rhythm so perfectly. He's HUGE. LOL Love this pair.
Blue Hors Matinee has a very memorable Kur as well, but doesnt have the same spirit Fuego has, but they would have made an astounding baby, too bad blue hors matinee passed away due to colic
OLEEEEE
Tania John how did those legs get laser silver ahhhh. I owned mostly grey horses and can aspire to have that level of clean 😂😂😂😂 even if squeaky clean....what do they use???!!?!??!?
After watching Totilas *And while I love that KWPN, Gal just... I don't know, the way Totilas held his head was bothering me.* seeing this horse is just amazing. I seriously want to get to this level of riding someday.
----2 months late---oops---lol---and I agree--Totilas is on good horse--BUT gal uses rollkur--which is sooo blind to see by new riders, ALMOST all of his supporters are NEW to the sport---I knew I was a few years back, and I loved them like no other team, now they are like ---LEAVE! lol ---if you know what I mean- How can the olympics allow such a thing to happen to horses? When clearly, you can tell and also they do it as training--you will find tons of articles about gal using rollkur and Anky too YET THEY STILL ARE COMPETING---and when lochte-U.S. swimmer breaks a rule--he gets banned. WHY? doesnt the same thing happen with riders who use Rollkur?
Still my favourite dressage test of all time .....the connection between horse and rider is wonderful....this is how it should be .... still gives me goosebumps .....
This is so amazing beautiful work and his horse and him are in perfect unison in everything ! He did a FANTASTIC job and makes sure he does his best at every piece in his work and has a gorgeous horse!!!
