Full to empty fuel range test on my Royal Enfield Continental GT.
Test was conducted on a mix of interstate highways, main roads, side roads and mountain passes.

We have bigger gallons over here in the UK (1 x imperial (UK) gallon is approximately 1.2 USA gallons). Therefore, your 67.66 mpg is about 81.25 mpg in the UK. That is impressive fuel efficiency, now I converted it to our currency 😊

I didn’t know that.. I’ve just moved to America haha. Good to know. Cheers for sharing that

Having been raised a teenager in Canada in the 70's I learned about the imperial gallon vs US gallon. US is 3.78 litres and 4.54 litres to the imperial gallon. I've actually gotten 75+ mpg US putting around the mountains in southern California. Once my warning light flashes I can only pump 2.2 US into it. That's a decent reserve

You're a braver man than me. I fill up at the 120 miles point regardless. Im getting the same sort of consumption figures though on British A and B single carriageway roads which look the same as the ones in this video. Nice to know if it came to it that i could squeeze a lot more out of a tankful because I'm taking it over the water to Ireland this coming summer for a little four day tour.

That's awesome, thanks for the cool video. I'm getting one of those for sure! Beautiful in every way.

Morning. Gorgeous colors in those trees. I can't believe you were able to coast all the way to the gas station VooDoo. That milage is fantastic. My Himalayan gets 72 MPG straight up. Cruised between Vegas and Parump yesterday. 7% grade up to 5490 feet. The Himalayan walked up this at 65mph... no problem. Love these Enfield's! That Super Meteor 650 will be at cycle centers in days. Will you test ride one? Gas...$5.31 yesterday Only use premium. I read regular makes the engine run hotter.

I knew getting down the mountain would be the easy part, making it to the gas station was questionable. The real lucky break came from running out within coasting distance of my exit. My Himalayan got 72mpg as well, I wasn't expecting 67mpg from the GT though. I was guessing 55-60mpg. I feel a little better about it now as the GT has the smallest fuel tank of all the REs and I was assuming poor fuel economy as well.

You're a much braver soul than I am to do this experiment. My days of pushing a bike miles are long over. Great info, as always.

I really couldn't have timed it much better! Having it run out in coasting range of my exit was a total guess, I knew I could at least get back to town once I went under that overpass but wasn't sure if it'd make it all the way to the gas station.

My wife and I have owned several sizes of bikes and always noticed that the gas tanks were sized to get you about 180 miles comfortably plus maybe a few miles pushing your luck. Great video.

Bold of you to do this test. When I bought my KLR650, I ran the six gallon tank out of fuel to check the real world range. It was upward of 300 miles, from a 6+ gallon tank. I regularly run it until it starts sputtering and I have to reach down and switch to reserve. It’s pretty consistently 305 miles. You might consider getting one or two of those one litre fuel containers to carry with you. I’m a pick up a couple of ‘em, for those out-of-the-way runs out into the wilderness. Keep On Truckin’

That's great range for a fun bike! And only slightly less than what I got on my Himalayan!

I was a little surprised at the results- I had assumed my Himalayan was much more efficient, I measured it at 72mpg. The GT came only 5 mpg behind.

Great way to do a real world fuel test. Nice MPG figures for a non water cooled bike.

Wow, 75 cts./liter. Our price is 2.20/liter. 1 liter on 28.5 kilometer, not bad.

@@UncleVoodoo in the meantime, I realized I'm doing 190 -200 km before the reserve light starts blinking. It's way less than what you're doing so I must be doing somehting wrong. Maybe the cause is my Zard pipes, dunno...
@UncleVoodoo
@UncleVoodoo Месяц назад
@@T_G_C_ I can definitely reduce the fuel economy by being heavy handed with the throttle, I have the S&S pipes so while it sounds cool… making it make those noises costs fuel. I generally err towards the safe side tell myself that max range is 150mi as opposed to the 200 I got in the video.

Impressive strategy. If I'd have tried that I'd have been pushing the bike for miles. lol

I was actually surprised I made it all the way back to the gas station, as there is a speed trap at the foot of the mountain and I had to scrub off speed as soon as I got to the flat portion. I was counting on having to push at least a few blocks, but it made it all the way!

How was your riding style? Easy throttle use? Which rpm range you were the most?
@UncleVoodoo
@UncleVoodoo 10 месяцев назад
Actually I cut this video way down as I did film the riding but cut it down for run time- I ran up to 100mph on the interstate (averaged 70mph) and was heavy handed through 2 twisty mountain passes. I ran 50-55mph for the last 40 odd miles on the Blue Ridge Parkway. I wanted to show it all but the video ended up being over 20 mins long. I didn't try to conserve fuel.

These are the Appalachian mountains of Virginia, USA. The area is at milepost 46 of the 469-mile Blue Ridge Parkway (Northern portion) where it intersects Rt 60 between Amherst and Lexington. Yes, very rural and beautiful..

Wow! You guys are paying NOTHING for your fuel! 10 dollars and 98 cents a gallon over on this side of the pond for the very cheapest poor quality petrol!
