Some Nigerians have lamented the increased hardship caused by the recent hike in fuel price and its resultant Scarcity in some states of the Federation.
In Asaba, Delta State Capital, some commuters decried the affordability and availability of petrol and the long time spent on queues at few fuel stations that have the commodity to sell.
Discomfort caused by high temperature in the bus conveying passengers from Asaba to Lagos parked on the queue for hours caused this infant to cry while his mother tried in the best way possible to comfort him. What can a parent do when the cause of his or her child's discomfort is beyond his or her capacity to solve the problem?
This was the situation of several travelers stranded on different fuel lines in Asaba on Wednesday 4th of September 2024 as their vehicles lined up to buy fuel at the few fuel stations selling Petrol at a fuel pump price ranging from 970 to 1000 naira per litre at Independent fuel stations while the NNPC Mega Station along the Asaba Benin Expressway sold Petrol at 885 per litre.
Some others lamented the increased in transport fares and the reduction in the number of passengers traveling as well as the huge hole created in their family budget.
Recall that the recent hike in Petrol pump price and resultant Scarcity is sequel to inability of tanker vessels with PMS to duck at the Nigerians seaports and inadequate storage facilities for reserved products as backup for such occurrences.
