Removing the fuel tank from the Suzuki Bandit is necessary for service and repair, but is also quite a simple and quick process.

Thanks Dave, really appreciate that. I’ve got the air filter on mine coming up 👍
@MotoMirius
@MotoMirius 3 года назад
Thanks. Normally for the air filter you can just lift and prop the back of the tank up without needing to disconnect anything. Filter cover normally takes a bit of wiggling to prise it out of it's home. Good luck. Skäl David

I’ve only got 11000 on mine Dave and wondering if that little fuel filter needs doing too.
@MotoMirius
@MotoMirius 3 года назад
@@David-sb7vg Its more a function of time than mileage. An issue with many bikes and certainly the Bandit, is rust from water which sits at the bottom of the tank, especially with a bike that doesn't get ridden a lot.

Yep I reckon we're experts at tank removal . Mines gone south again so tanks gonna be off again ! Peace and love brother 👍🏻☮❤ wish I was there and you were here for moral support and we could both laugh at our predicament ! 😢❤❤
@MotoMirius

Well, this was the amalgamation of two tank removals, so we seem to be syncronised with our three cylinder Bandits. I'm about to pull carb 1 off the end of the stack rather than deal with the throttle cables!

Hey thanks for this. Do I need to ensure the tank is empty? If I don't will fuel pour out when I remove the fuel filter hose? Thanks
@MotoMirius
@MotoMirius 2 года назад
Tanks are designed to be removed without draining - it would be very expensive for bike servicing at workshops otherwise. You will get some leakage of the fuel that is in the tubing but that should be all.
@KarlPrukk
@KarlPrukk 3 года назад
Hey, nice video. Could you tell me how large is the tank? on my bike, when it says two lines fuel left out of five (180km city driving from full tank), carburettors wont get any fuel anymore and bike will stop. When i go to refuel i can add only 12litres.
@MotoMirius
@MotoMirius 3 года назад
Thanks. It may vary by model but I think it will normally be around 20 litres. Since your fuel gauge is showing part full, that would support it and suggests that you have a fuel pickup problem.

Thank you so much for this! I completely removed it by myself and sent it for fixing some craters! But one quick question: the first two hoses that are indifferent, one of them wasnt attached anywhere, is that the correct way? Or did it disconnect from somewhere when i sided the tank?

Could anyone advise where I can get torque bar bolts and nuts for a bandit 600 04. Mines just came off and nearly killed me by the back break locking up. This was after paying someone to look over my bike and check it was safe. I will be doing my own stuff from now on by watching your channel.

I got no vent hoses and a vacuum pipe. My 2006 GSF650 sometimes randomly dies. It takes around 5 min to crank and get is started again. So i suppose the tank isn't able to breath to get the fuel in the carbs. Thank you for the helpful video!
@MotoMirius
@MotoMirius 2 года назад
Vent hoses aren’t necessary but you do need to make sure that the vent pipes in the tank are clear. There will be a fuel drain which is less important and then a vent to allow air into the tank as the fuel level drops. Sometimes this is incorporated into the filler cap. If you ride then take off the filler cap and you hear a hiss of air then you know you need to clear the vent - it will cause the bike to die randomly. Vacuum line to the tank is only if you don’t have a fuel tap.

Hi Dave thanks for the video, 2 questions: the fuel tap on the left side under the tank, need to come off at all? And the second one is, as I will replace my old tank do recomend any component to be replaced for a new one? Thanks in advance... Great stuff 👍👍👍
@MotoMirius
@MotoMirius 7 месяцев назад
Thanks. Fuel taps are normally only removed if they are leaking or you want to do a full respray. Not really much to change or upgrade on this, it's just a tank and the stock components are well suited for a stock bike. Good luck!

hello thanks for the video question could you tell me at minute 6:30 we have a big hose and small hose is the small hose suposed to be connected to somthing ? it connected to mothing on my bike just like the big one
@MotoMirius
@MotoMirius 4 дня назад
Small hose will be a breather or drain. It's better to have it fitted because it means you won't risk fuel dripping onto a hot engine or exhaust.

Just what I was looking for! Do I need to empty the tank of gas? It sounds like you have gas innit but it doesnt leak? :)

You will typically get some leakage from the disconnected fuel lines but the tank should not leak.

Hello everibody, I am worried about fuel leak, is problem if I do this operation with some gazoline inside? thanks
@MotoMirius
@MotoMirius Месяц назад
You will get a little spillage from fuel that is the pipes - the tank will not leak unless you have a faulty fuel valve.

@@albertopego8220 If you do it with the tank almost empty then it will be lighter but otherwise it will not change anything. No, I did not have any acceleration problems. Changing spark plugs is just part of normal servicing - the purpose of normal servicing is to prevent avoidable problems happening

Tough issue. My starting point would be the wiring running up past the headstock to the clocks/ ignition switch as that is the most likely place for a broken or damaged wire, but check the wiring elsewhere to see if there have been any pinches or damage to the loom. Good luck!

@MotoMirius
@MotoMirius 2 года назад
@@adammountjoy3336 You'd have to hunt around. Typically you have to build that relationship before your need help. But electrics are quite simple even if frustrating. It sounds like you might have a problem with the switch or its wiring. Just be patient and take one wire at a time. It's very common for wires to get damaged around the steering area becuase of the movement. It's worse if some has done a poor repair especially if they have used solder.
